Hotel is quite far from the main city centre of Colombo

Hotel was very clean and tidy. I was accidentally charged twice by the receptionist for the room. Although, this was dealt with quickly and professionally.

The only downside? The property is right next to a train track, and trains do come and go every few minutes — starting even before 5am until midnight! But to be honest, after 3 nights, we somehow got used to it.

We absolutely loved our stay at 50 By The Sea — the ocean view was nothing short of spectacular! 🌊✨ I could’ve easily stayed in bed all day just soaking in the peaceful sea view right from our room. The property felt like a hidden gem — private, secure, and so serene. We really appreciated the strict security and privacy; it made us feel safe and completely at ease throughout our stay. Although it’s located slightly away from the city centre, it wasn’t a problem at all — getting around was super easy (and affordable!) with TukTuk via PickMe. If we ever come back to Colombo, we’d still stay here again in a heartbeat. 🩵

There is no possibility of optional breakfast. However, it is possible to have breakfast in a separate bar in the same building but is entered from the outside.

Very good and clean accommodation. Good service for the value. Nearby there is a large and beautiful beach and several beachside restaurants. I would stay there again.

Loud music from bars and restaurants in front of the beach. But this is not the hotel's faule.

Very clean rooms and towels, very helpful staff - helped us to redirect the package and have it delivered on time, good water preasure. Whole stay was great.

The room was nice and clean with a great view of the ocean. Bed was very comfortable to sleep on and I didn't wake up with a sore back which was a bonus. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Initially we booked the room for 2 nights but extended our stay for another 2 nights as we were very happy with the place. Excellent security downstairs to the apartment complex where there is someone there 24/7. That alone was a huge bonus and gave us peace of mind to venture around and enjoy our holiday.

If you book this hotel please be advised that the traffic is insane right outside with noisy cars, trains and everything in between that stop only from 12am to 4am, so this can be very challenging.

1. The building doesn't have a main entrance. It is quite confusing as the front facade - facing the main road has a restaurant, while one side has an ATM but no entrance, and the other side has a simple, almost-hidden side-entrance through a parking space. It seems dodgy to have an entrance to a beautiful place through a side, manned only by a security personnel (luckily helpful and kind). 2. The noise of the road is heard fully and abundantly in the room. It was like we slept on a very comfortable pavement on the side of the road. We barely got any sleep with trains, rowdy and loud boys singing with a bluetooth speaker at 2am, and vehicles zooming by on a Saturday night. The 'french-windows' need to be replaced with a sealed thick glass or other alternative that significantly reduces sound travelling into the room.

The room was neat and cosy, the bed was comfortable and the toilet was clean and nice. Basic amenities were available for a comfortable stay.

Nothing bad but there should be a gym and a pool at the property.

I loved this place. Very comfortable and clean. The staff is really helpful especially Prasad. My stay here for 18 nights has been really exceptional. There is noise from outside but i played deep sleep relaxation music on TV while sleeping. The security is great especially for female solo travelers. I’m gonna come again and stay here for sure.
