How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe stay at the Nine Arch Jungle Inn was great! The view from the room is amazing! Waking up to a sunrise with that view was magical. Also the breakfast was the best we’ve had in Sri Lanka. We also had our laundry done. Probably the best of all was Gavi! He was incredibly helpful! He picked us up in the tuktuk the first day and dropped us off the last day. He was always taking care of us and ensuring the experience was perfect. Thanks Gavi!
Truth is, getting to the hotel is a bit tricky, as there’s a steep road to get there with no light at night, but it can be done with Tuktuk.

Verified reviewIncredible views 5 minute walk to nine arch bridge Amazing staff We had dinner cooked by the hotel and it was amazing, highly recommend Very clean We got picked up by TukTuk from the main road - recommend packing your things into a smaller bag to stay here vs bringing a suitcase / big rucksack
My friend heard a couple of noises from monkeys in the night, but I personally didn’t at all and found it very peaceful

Verified reviewI loved it here. It felt like I was in the middle of the jungle, with fabulous views! Location wise, very convenient for the 9 Arch Bridge. It's a little way out of town, with quite a walk up a hill to get to the main road, but it is walkable (or you can go along the rail track). However, Gavi was amazing and basically carted me around in his tuktuk whenever I needed, which gave me easier access to some of the hikes in the area (recommend Little Adam's peak for a fairly easy climb - mostly stairs) and the town centre, which is great for some shopping and a more lively vibe. The room is really quiet, except for the monkey's!! Once I'd worked out what the sound was (you know when you shake metal to make it sound like thunder - that sound) and stopped freaking myself out, I realised it was the monkey's on the rooftop and quite liked hearing it! Also, there are fire flies in the area, which are absolutely beautiful to watch! I thought I might struggle without aircon, but the fan is powerful and kept the room cool. It was very clean and comfortable. Would recommend in a heartbeat to stay here!

Verified reviewGavi, who worked there, was super kind. He helped us with our luggage and provided a tuktuk for going back to the main road in Ella. We had the best breakfast, with the best view! Only 5 min walk to the train! Would def recommend!!

Verified reviewExcellent location with great views of Nine Arch Bridge, only a 3-4 min walk downhill to it too, so a perfect place to stay if you want to experience it early morning before the crowds come. Host was very helpful and dropped us into town on his tuktuk a couple of times. We didn’t opt for breakfast but it smelled amazing both mornings we stayed! The room was clean, spacious with a big bed and well equipped bathroom and nice shower.
I’m downside is no aircon but we had a powerful fan.

Verified reviewAbsolutely awful experience. I do not recommend this place.
1. The place was dirty, and the photos online were misleading—they didn’t match the actual condition of the room (see my photos) 2. It’s extremely remote and hard to reach. The tuk-tuk ride there was uncomfortable, and nerve-wracking due to steep cliffs and many people to avoid on a very narrow path. Once you're there, you feel completely stuck. 3. It was very noisy, with lots of people passing by to see the bridge, loud music playing late into the night, and frequent trains going by. 4. Worst of all, there were rats running around inside the room. I was alone and terrified. I messaged the staff for help, but no one came until the next morning.

Verified reviewYou feel like you are one with nature, there are animals around you but none come in to the room or balcony so you also feel safe. Gavi was a great host. The view of the bridge from the balcony is hard to beat.
Nothing!

Verified reviewWe liked our stay! It is a bit of jungle here, with monkeys, squirrels and bugs. But the room is very comfortable and has an amazing view on the bridge! The way down is for the more experienced tuktuk driver, they are more than happy to help get you there and back.

Verified reviewSuch a cozy cabin with front row views of the bridge! Even though the weather was rainy we were able to enjoy the bridge to the full on the terrace. Gavi and his family are just next door and look after every detail, from helping us drive the tuktuk down to all our meals and drinks. No need to go anywhere, just enjoy the best view in Ella! Hottest shower we have had in Sri Lanka and well thought out cabin with different lighting options and thick curtains to give privacy.
Nothing it was spectacular! 10/10

Verified reviewThe location and the host were absolutely perfect. We arrived ill because of the food somewhere else. Our host took care of us. He is a hero.
Nothing, the location is in the middle of je jungle and hard to find and on the end of a steep hill. However. The host wil take you anywhere you want with his tuk tuk.

Verified reviewI have mixed feelings about this place , originally we were supposed to stay for two night but then went for another place the second night. It takes you a minute and you will be at the bridge, you can see the train from the terrace. You can access the inn only by tok tok and at night it can be scary as there is no lights
There were lots of insects which is expected since you are in the middle of the jungle, no kettle , no chairs. The electricity went out for an hour at 5 am Monkeys can jump on the roof

Verified reviewLocation. View. But the people running the property really don’t care for the guests. In for it just for the money.
Shocking experience. Place is run by a local tuk tuk owner how operates this booking.com listing. Owner is not at the property and dosent care of the listing. Worst part is when we got there the tuk tuk owner said your room is not available since the previous guest is extending. Worst experience. Luckily there is a caretaker you said there is another place right next to this property run by a really sweet local woman who was a gem of a person and treated us with utmost care and ensured our Ella experience was good. Cheers to the lady but careful of the guy who runs this listing. They was in for it just for the money just because in the recent past Ella is bursting with tourists.

Verified reviewThe view of nine arch bridge. Being in the jungle and listening to the animals at night. Our host Gavi was great and provided a Tuk Tuk when we wanted to go to Ella city or other locations. The breakfast was fantastic and served on our balcony overlooking the bridge.
The roof of the property is galvanise so when it rains it can be very loud. Monkeys tend to run across the riff also. We had ear plugs which we would recommend if you are a light sleeper. Otherwise the property is great.
