How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI really enjoyed my 4 nights in Akash Treehouse. I was welcomed with smiles and a delicious juice after a long trip there. The owners Dinesh and Devika were just so kind and smiley. They gave me a good price for trips which was so helpful! So be sure to ask them. Shan and Rosan made my stay more interesting, fun and real Sri Lankan! The breakfast was delicious and my treehouse was so comfy, clean and spacious. Be ready to have a visitor or two in the bathroom like a little frog, lizard or strange bug (harmless) which made the experience more wild. It’s a great place to stay, tucked away in Sigiriya.
thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️

Verified reviewA truly rustic experience. A cute tree house, quite spacious, comfortable beds and clean bathroom. The host, Dinesh was great and very helpful. The location is a short distance from the main road, but Dinesh took us around in his tuk tuk to all the places. The food was great too and I would definitely recommend this place for one-with-nature kind of experience.
The treehouse is rustic, so I wouldn't say this as a problem, but at night, there are a lot of creaking and wind-driven noises from the roof and walls which did creep me out a bit.

Verified reviewGood vibes, nice and kind people, nice treehouse, clean , hot water available and air-conditioning, nice breakfast. They helped us with their tuk tuk and charged us as local people. Totally recommended!!
You may encounter some bugs, but you are staying in a treehouse, so it's acceptable and normal. A 20 minute walk from village centre.
thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️

Verified reviewThis was a lovely find in Sigigirya, the treehouse is located beside the hosts home! It was super clean and the bathroom was clean with a lovely shower. The beds were comfy, now it is a tree house so animals are sharing there home with you 🙃 The family and Shaan were very helpful in organising trips etc. The breakfast every morning was so nice and fresh! The village is a small 25 minute walk away with restaurants.
Nothings
thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️

Verified reviewThe hotel had a nice bed and eating area. We had lovely breakfasts and also a nice kottu one evening. The location is pretty good with only a 20 minute walk to the crossroads. There are also plenty of restaurants available nearby.
The owner was putting in another treehouse during our stay. We got woken up by loud construction works 2 different times very early in the morning. After the first time, I nicely asked them to maybe start a bit later, since there are guests trying to sleep. A day later, we were woken up by banging again. Not very respectful towards your guests.

Verified reviewIt is directly in the jungle and you have a nice view from the treehouse. The room was also very clean. And the people are very nice. The picked me up from bus station but I had to pay for it in the end.
The breakfast was unfortunately not very good. The didn’t ask about food preferences. And the coffee was quite bad.

Verified reviewThis hotel is truly wonderful. Staying and sleeping in the treehouse was a unique and unforgettable experience. But what made it even more special was the amazing host family. The father picked me up from anywhere and drove me wherever I needed to go, organizing great trips and anything else I could possibly need. The mother is a fantastic cook and prepared a breathtaking breakfast that I’ll never forget. I can wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone!

Verified reviewAkkasa Tree is a charming place. The cabins are very cozy and very close to bars and restaurants. But the best part is the family who runs the accommodation. They are very welcoming and always willing to help. They can organize tours and give you advice if you want, all without any hassle.

Verified reviewStaying in a treehouse but feeling at home :) The hosting family was lovely and very helpful when we asked for advice. Meals are prepared with love and with fresh ingredients from the owners, including meat, rice and fruits. Planning dinners and breakfast times with the owners was very easy. You can’t go wrong here, warmly recommended.

Verified reviewThe place was very clean, and the room had all the necessary amenities. The homemade local breakfast was delicious and a perfect start to the day. It is located in the middle of the forest, so you are constantly surrounded by the sounds of nature. It’s a peaceful and beautiful setting, but if you are sensitive to noise, it might not be the best option for you. Overall, it was a good experience.
