How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

All good.
Nice homestay, the room was very nice and clean. Shared bathroom was clean. Breakfast good and friendly staff. It is located a bit out of city center but in a very calm, safe and nice residential area, I often walked to city center and in the evening took a fast and cheap Tuk tuk.

Bath water came slow. Some small bugs in the bathroom.
Clima and fan were included. The beds were great. Clean sheets. Breakfast was great, they made it just for us. The staff was very helpful. They immediately replied when messaged. They carried out bags. Updated our rooms since it was available.

The family that runs the place is very kind and helps in everything they can. Large and clean room, the wi-fi works well and the breakfast is good, Sri Lankan style!

It’s a bit further from the city center. But it’s easy to get a tuktuk with PickMe.
Very friendly people. Clean room. And acceptable clean shared bathroom. The ceiling ventilation worked good. We didn’t miss the airco. The breakfast was great. At night very quiet.

Wouldn't have minded if it was more central, but obviously the owners can't help that. Bathroom could have been a bit cleaner (was a little grubby in places but nothing serious)
Good Sri Lankan breakfast included in the price at time of your choosing. Owner and family are very welcoming and happy to help. Great price all things considered.

Separate bathroom & toilet. Curtain inside room tend to rise for the fan speed
I love the location & welcome of them. Also I did enjoyed the stay & very comfortable & clean.

The room and the floor in it would look much better with a fresh coat of paint.
The family is very nice and I really liked the complimentary breakfast, it's usually some local vegetarian food like dosa or spring hoppers. The Wifi worked great and you can also rent a bike here. I also liked the location, the neighbourhood is very green and not too busy.

In the bathroom, the water flow from the showers, bidet showers, and the cistern is very slow. It's a major issue.

I suppose that they are not get used to foreigners yet, but we felt a bit unattended. We had to tell them that we had no toilet paper, ask for new towels, no recommendations about what to do or where to go… also we rent a bike and it was overpriced (local people told us). We had a mechanical problem with the bike and all the feedback that we had was to call a X number written on the documentation, when we don’t speak the local language… also they need to have a Whatsapp number because it’s difficult to communicate with them. They are a good family and we would appreciate if they care more about their guests in the future.
First of all I want to say that we had a good time in this place. It is good and we stayed 4 nights there. The house is big, the breakfast is decent and the bathroom is ok, and not overpriced.

Room was smelling a little moldy. Shared bathroom was small and therefore toilet + floor etc was always wet. There was work done so it was loud.
There was a comfortable bed to sleep and the people there were very nice. The guy helped me to cancel one day as i needed to check-out earlier. For that i gave one star more. It’s all quite simple. Breakfast was vegan (good!).

The owners are very nice and helpful. The rooms are clean and have windows that let in lots of air.

Early breakfast was a little difficult.
A great place with a nice host family who was very helpful and welcoming. Not too many rooms (4 in total) to share the bathroom with. We enjoyed our stay and felt very safe.

Door locks seems not to be really safe ...
Nice stay, good local breakfast, helpful and friendy family. We had two rooms for 2 people each. One room was a little bit tiny, but we could use the balcony every time. That was very comfortable. Bathroom for the two rooms was outside, extra room in the same floor to use only for the four of us. That was okay. The one room had a little an untended flair.

Guesthouse with only a few rooms that is run by a very welcoming and helpfull young family. The city and other sights are easily accessible by scooter (rented from the owners).
