We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaNothing it was great
This was an excellent stay. They have 2 independent cottages, both new, and very comfortable. Lots of plugs, comfy beds and a great front porch where we sat and watched the birds. As you will notice there are LOTS of inexpensive accommodations in the area. I think they make most of their money as they also offer safaris. While the rooms were excellent and the food great, the safari offered by the son was very good in both quality and fair price. We have been on lots of safaris in Africa, this is not the same, but for the area it was very good. For example, the vehicle was able to make ti through muddy areas that others cant. Our guide knew a lot (most) of the birds and all of the animals. And he even had a book and binoculars- a rareity. He did not crowd the sightings like some of the other guides, and yet we still saw everything. In fact he is so popular that the neighboring accommodations were always asking him to guide for them as well. But if you stay at Pinnacle you get priority! We even ate our dinner at the accommodation- a large tasty meal for a reasonable price! They even packed us a breakfast so we could eat it on safari.

United StatesWiFi wasn’t the best. And there was a bit of an ant infestation problem in and around the rooms. We were provided with spray to kill them, which was very helpful, but that just left dead ants everywhere. Harmless little creatures that mostly stayed out of the way, just not the best inside.
This was such a lovely stay. First of all, the way the rooms are set up is amazing. We got our own little building all to ourselves. Inside and out was charming and nice. Comfortable and had everything we needed. The hosts were the best though. They made us feel welcome and took such good care of us. Beyond just the standard welcome drinks, they brought us tea twice and some local sweets. And made sure all our needs were taken care of and were very helpful to us. They arranged a very nice safari tour with their son, for a very reasonable cost, offered us a ride into Udawalawa Junction to go to the ATM, and even got us a tuk tuk to the bus station on the morning we left. The breakfasts were delicious and were served with nice drinks. Overall, a very good place to stay and we highly recommend!

Pinnacle Safari Resort was by far the most comfortable stay during our trip in Sri Lanka. We chose it due to it proximity to Udawalawe National Park but the place itself exceeded our expectations. the rooms are newly built, and there are no shared walls so you aren't disturbed by anyone else. The showers had hot water and everything was very clean. We had breakfast and dinner during our stay which was also very good. You can choose between a western meal or a sri lankan meal. We booked the Safari with them as well which we also enjoyed. All in all, It was a memorable experience! I would have stayed an extra night if I could. It is family run, everyone is so kind and service was top tier. If you want a restful stay, I 100% recommend them.

Amazing new bungalows located in the quiet neighborhood. Rooms are new and have everything you might need. The water is hot, internet was fast enough to work (first time in Sri Lanka! :D). The garden is nice and quiet, you could observe birds and other animals. There are a variety of food options for breakfast, you could also order lunch and dinner from the lovely family. The biggest plus is finally Rashmika and his family, they are super friendly and helpful, making sure you have everything you might need. We booked afternoon safari with Rashmika and it was so amazing that we immediately booked out again for the next day. If you want to visit udawale national park on safari don't look anywhere else, this is your place! Highly recommend both the place and the safari!

United KingdomWe thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Pinnacle and appreciated the warm hospitality of the entire family. Everything that others have already mentioned was of a really high standard, including the room and facilities (hot water included; we didn’t use the Wi-Fi, so we can’t comment on that), the cleanliness, the paid home-cooked dinner, and the family’s help with additional bits and pieces. The guesthouse has just two newly built rooms, which likely explains the low number of reviews so far. We also went on safari with them, which isn’t part of this review, but it offered reasonable value as well. We used taxis to get to and from the property and nearby towns, so we can’t comment on the public transport options. Similarly, I’m not sure there’s much within walking distance (at least not comfortably at night), so you might want to consider that if you’re staying more than one night and arrange transport or dinner in advance, as we did. We definitely recommend staying here for easy access to the Udawalawe safari.

Great welcome in this small family guesthouse surrounded by a magnificent garden. The room and bathroom were large, very clean and comfortable! We slept very well. They have their own jeep and offer to do the Safari tour themselves. We did the safari with Rashmika, the son and it was great! We saw many animals, Rashmika provides lots of explanations and stops as soon as there is an animal (which we had not necessarily seen before he showed it to us). We also had dinner and lunch there, it was excellent. They also booked taxi and tuk tuk for us. Great experience in this establishment, thank you for everything :) I highly recommend.

LithuaniaWe had amazing time. Family is taking very good care. Young man is doing safari ( you do not need to look and book somewhere else). Parents are taking care of food, whatever you wish to be cooked. Two guest houses are in the middle of garden, surrounded by exotic animals, birds plants, ... 100% comfort. They also arranged transportation to Ella with very reasonable price.

LithuaniaThe most wonderful place to stay. The apartment is surrounded by a beautiful garden, with many beautiful trees around. Everything is very clean and tidy, comfortable big bed, great shower. Before arriving the hosts offered to make dinner. Although we had been in Sri Lanka for a week, it was the most delicious meal we had during the entire trip. The rice and curry tasted divine. It cost 2000 per person, but it was worth every rupee. The hosts are very helpful, very polite and respectful. Upon request, they organized a safari for us. Thank you very much.
