Exceptional service by friendly and welcoming hosts at The Dale Mirissa. Excellent, quiet and comfortable location, close to many beaches. Snorkeling, whale watching, surfing and other fun activities can be easily arranged by staff. A variety of tasty meals are served in huge portions, with fresh produce from the garden. A memorable place well worth the visit!

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The facilities were exceptional, great shower and it had everything you needed including a fridge. We liked the style of the room and the patio space at the front.

    Property response:

Good morning 😊 Thank you very much for your valuable review. We appreciate it, it means a lot to us. See you again.❤

This hidden gem is really worth to stay. Its a bit away from main road, so surrounding is very peaceful and quiet. During breakfst we witnessed family of peacocks browsing around. To the beach and city its just 20 minutes walk. The owner and his wife were very nice and sweet. They greeted us with amazing homemade juice, helped us with everything. He gave us tips and suggestions what to do around. In the morning they prepared soo tasty breakfast. Western breakfast, traditional srilankan breakfast, fresh cut fruit. Owner was always available and very helpful. Room was spacious, clean and bed was really comfortable. We were here only 1 night because it was off season but we definetly coming back during season and to this place. Recommended 10/10

    Property response:

Thank you so much for your kind words! 😊 It was a pleasure hosting you. We look forward to welcoming you back during the season. Until then, safe travels and best wishes!

We chose to stay at The Dale because we saw on Booking.com that it offers a very good breakfast and cooking classes. We were not disappointed. The friendly family even prepared a special gluten-free dinner for me, which was excellent, as was the traditional Sri Lankan breakfast. The room was also very nice, clean, and functional – it had everything we needed, including a small terrace that opened right into the lush jungle. The family was extremely friendly, attentive, and absolutely service-oriented. We didn’t lack for anything. Their three friendly dogs brought us a lot of joy and laughter.

We had a great time at The Dale. Nice room, very clean and an excellent shower. The location is excellent, a short walk along a lovely street into the town and beach. Along this road are some great restaurants which felt more authentic than the ones on the beach. The breakfast is fantastic with so much to eat! The owners are incredibly helpful and friendly, telling us lots of local information and were happy to sit and chat with us. Would highly recommend and hope to return one day.

Peaceful, felt like a homestay. The cold towels and welcome drinks were a lovely touch on our arrival. The a/c unit was was very efficient and quiet keeping the room cool. Welcome relief after the beaches. our children really enjoyed staying here and rated it as one the best places we stayed during our trip. The hosts were very helpful organising trips, tuk tuks, drives and helping with trains. Amazing breakfast.

Sanath and his family are exceptional hosts, I felt so at home in this resort thanks to their kind and generous hospitality. The resort is set back a little from the beach but it's still within walking distance. We were treated to a wonderful home made breakfast from Sanath and his family, the food seemed to never stop coming, these are incredibly generous people and they sure know how to put on a spread, the food was delicious and it was so nice to have their company while we ate. We learned that they make some textiles there, some of their products are for sale and they're really good quality, the button ups were so good we had to buy one. If you stay here I would go in with the mentality of giving a healthy tip, because they will certainly earn it. Truly great people to stay with.

Sanath and his family were so welcoming and friendly and it was a pleasure to meet everyone. The Dale is a little set back from the town of Missira, which means it is peaceful and quiet, and walking to and from the place gave me the opportunity to see a slightly more residential and less touristy area. I would say this spot is better suited to those in search of a quieter time than first time travelling party goers (which of course I have been myself), given the family live on site and it is a little back from the town. As it was a little further out, it was very reassuring to have the family living there, who always greeted me warmly, including their three dogs (though it was Romeo I bonded with most). The room was very nice with an enormous bed and a large continental/ Sri Lankan fusion breakfast was on offer, and enjoyed. Sanath used to be a tour guide and he therefore is very well equipped to help you organise any tours. While the main thrust of my trip was more beach-side than organised tours, I decided to go to Udawalawe National Park, and from there on to Hiriketiya. Sanath organised my driver to the Park, the Jeep to take me around (which was fantastic) and thereafter the lift to my next hotel in Hiriketiya. Again, I was very reassured to have had this organised by Sanath and I might not have gone otherwise. I also managed to leave my sunglasses in the car and so Sanath got them back for me and I collected them en route to Galle from Hiriketiya. I also asked for some laundry to be done in record time, including getting dye (from my beach bag) out of white clothes, which Sanath’s charming wife dealt with without batting an eyelid. Finally, Sanath introduced me to a friend of his (Riswan) who is a jeweller who came to visit me at the Dale. I was under no pressure to buy anything, and of course I bought loads of stunning jewellery; again I would have been ambivalent about doing so in a jewellery shop where I didn’t have a link. Thank you so much!

Spacious and clean rooms! Fridge and hairdryer were supplied in the room, there was always warm water. Beds were comfortable, we also liked the pillows. Owners were helpful and friendly, spoke well English. Breakfast was great, they served every day something else. They sell also nice (and affordable!) clothes we didn’t see elsewhere on the island. Always a warm welcome by the property’s dogs. :)

The AC didn’t turn cold enough at night, a good cleaning of the filters might help with that. Also toilet had a door but its open above. Price of the stay is on the higher side, so would have been nice if AC worked better and if the toilet was fully closeable.

Clean by Sri Lankan standards. Friendly and accommodating hosts—the host welcomed me in the middle of the night. Cold water available for purchase on-site.

    - The most expensive stay I had in Sri Lanka, but not the best value for money. - Small and worn down. - Extremely loud air conditioning, making it difficult to sleep—had to turn it off. - Generator runs loudly most of the night. - No fridge in the room. - A bit far from the beach, with a very bumpy road at the end of the walk. - No scenic views or interesting nature in the area. - The town itself isn’t particularly special—Dikwella would be a better choice for a more relaxed atmosphere.

We stayed in a triple superior and it felt very spacious. The accommodation is located down a narrow dirt track, but only a 10 minute walk to the beach. Breakfast each morning was homemade and tasted incredible. We were impressed with all the food and you get a lot. The owner is a gentleman, super friendly and helpful, and it was a pleasure staying at his beautiful home.

Lovely little guesthouse down a small lane ( quite difficult to find so get directions before you set off !) in a quiet but convenient location in Marissa - about 10 minutes walk to some excellent restaurants along Udalpilla Road ( including the No. 1 Rotl Shop which was fab). And 15 minutes to the beach. We had a lovely stay - the hosts could not have been more attentive and they made us a delicious special New Year’s Day breakfast which was simply wonderful . Well equipped large rooms in the countryside and would thoroughly recommend !
