A decent place to spend a night. Close to the bus station, 15 min to the beach

The wifi is not the strongest.

The property is well maintained. It's big compared to other places where I've stayed. There's parking, a lobby, a small kitchen, an ironing board, WiFi, hot water, fridge, tables to eat, plenty of room to sit, chat or relax.

Mosquito net was included in the room info but our room did not have one. We had our own net with us which we got to hang from the fan so it was no big deal for us!

We had a comfortable stay and we really liked the location because it was in the middle of Hiriketiya beach and Dickwella beach! Owner was friendly!

Uncleanliness

The host was helpful and kind. I arrived later at night and he helped to settle me in, ended up paying extra for AC because of them mosquitoes! There was no net, the property had everything you need, large bed, shower, toilet etc all the basics. It was a bit unclean unfortunately, not too bad but worth mentioning. Some stain on the pillow case and bugs, cobwebs, dust etc. like I said, not horrible but could’ve done with a dusting. Thank you! The host helped with my bus also and let me check out a little later 🙏 it’s in a great area, some food spots around, close to the beach and not far from the main bus station :)

A morning prayer or something like it in the nearby building at 7:00 or 7:30 that lasts for 10-20 minutes. It is loud enough to wake up a person. Since we woke up early for the beach, that was fine. Only on the day of departure we needed extra rest. The place could use some renovation and an overall occasional room cleaning, not only floors. Light switches, furniture and window grates were somewhat dirty/dusty. The walls in the room and kitchen desperately need repainting due to the wear through many years. The photos reflect the state as it was at the beginning, but it looks a bit grim now.

We booked 2 rooms: one with AC+private bathroom and one with a fan+private bathroom. AC room is very recommended, since the day heat is no joke. The rooms are a bit small with not much place to put your things, but for 1-2 nights should be enough. The room with the fan could bring the temperature to the norm for sleeping at night, but it wasn't sufficient for the daytime. Another drawback of the room with the fan is a dark bathroom. Enough to shower, but shaving or applying makeup would be challenging. AC room has it better. The host is friendly and helpful. For a fee the laundry service did a good washing of the clothes. Common kitchen area was nice, but you need to request the cups, dishes and utensils to be provided. The kitchen is shared for 3 rooms, but since we took 2 and one room was empty, it was all for us. Even if not cooking, the area is great for taking food go-to in the nearby restaurants (which was just 1.5$ per large portion) and eating there. Location-wise it isn't too far from the beach, the supermarket, which also sells alcohol and market stalls with vegetables. All of this is within 15 mins of walking.

The cheap room we stayed in was the worst one we have been in our 30 days stay in Sri Lanka even though we stayed in even cheper rooms. There were just one little window and you couldn't change the air in the room at all, and if you wanted to open it you would lost all your privacy. There was no cellular signal and wifi was more non existent either as it had only one bar at it's best. There was no bug net (the only acommodation in Sri Lanka we had that didn't has it) and no blankets. Also the bathroom wasn't well kept and there was a lot of dust and mess under the bed. The host was kinda friendly, but didn't show us around what we can use or anything.

I really loved the location it is between Hiriketiya and Dickwella beach. Close to everywhere. Owner was kinda friendly. Maybe the AC rooms are better.

Endless mosquitoes… Some rooms have no ac No restaurant

Cheap and location is alright, 10 min walk will bring you to closest beach, a lot of places to get things needed around the hostel. Home owner was nice and helped with every request. WiFi was mostly good
