We asked for more toilet roll but never got it, think from a language barrier, the towel rail fell off the wall but they said the property was fairly new, it was slightly more expensive then any where else we looked at otherwise it was great

Could not fault the place even if I wanted to.

This was by far one of the best hotels we've ever stayed in. From the initial greeting to the last goodbye, it was an amazing exceptional experience. Place itself is situated on a small road surrounded by green pastures. Very quiet. The rooms are clean, tidy, and extremely well maintained. The toilet and washroom are very clean and immaculate. The pool area was small but comfy and very calm. Perfect for nice little drink and relax. The whole hotel team was absolutely professional and very attentive. They were there in a flash if you ever needed anything. "No" was not in their vocabulary. I would like to give thank you to everyone who made our stay memorable. And special thank you to "LAKMAL, ISURU, AND THE Cheff RENUNKA". They went out of their way to make sure stay was a memorable one. I would gladly recommend the Dhalaya Resort to anyone in a heartbeat. Only stayed for 2 nights. Have we had the time we would have stayed more because it was such a pleasure.

There was some building work going on, which was a big disruptive. The music in the restaurant was too loud and not appealing for the setting, the menu and the character of the restaurant was trying to appeal too much to Western tastes, there was not enough Sri Lankan influence. The staff in the restaurant were very accommodating however, it was a little bit chaotic at times for example at breakfast we had to ask for coffee three times before it arrived and we asked for some water and they only gave us two glasses when they were four of us.

The bed were very comfortable and big, the room was very spacious, the AC was very effective, the staff were very friendly, the bathroom was very clean and I loved the shower and I liked the fact that there was only 6 rooms.

Very nice, small cosy resort. Very new. Super friendly staff and delicious food. Good safari opportunities nearby, which the hotel can also arrange. Rooms looked brand New, beautiful and well maintained. Very comfortable. Lovely swimming pool. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to stay in Udawalawe and the surrounding area.

Lots of ants in the bathroom (there was less AC in the bathroom than the main room), a couple of (small) ants in the bed. I guess this is to be expected as you're in a very natural environment.

Really hospitable and friendly staff, beautiful accommodation, great value, easy access to elephant safari, would definitely recommend staying here!

We were looking forward to using the pool and recreation area, however this wasn’t able to be used unfortunately. The management promptly recognised this and we appreciated their consideration.

The team were very friendly, helpful and attentive. They looked after us well. The rooms were great - very comfortable beds ! The decor was nice; they were clean and well provisioned. The food was very good. We especially enjoyed the dinner. Renuka the chef and his team made up some yummy packs for our safari. We thought the position was fantastic- we could walk out of the property and see other attractions in the area with ease.

Extremely kind and attentive staff who went out of their way to keep the hotel and restaurant open for us despite us being the only guests that night (out of season). Made such an effort to make a beautiful meal for us, even getting a dish from another vendor for us that they didn’t have in that evening that we really wanted to try. Great location for safari and opposite the elephant transit home.

We absolutely loved our stay at Dhalaya. The rooms were brand new and spacious. The staff were very kind and the food in the Hungry Monkey restaurant delicious - the best Sri Lanka vegetable curry we had during our travel!

Great location. Lovely pool.. Meals were served in a lovely thatched restaurant in the garden and really nice. We asked for some breakfast to take on our safari which was packed up for us. The hotel is almost opposite the elephant transit home which you can visit at feeding time. Nite- the transit home only accepts cash.Very pretty gardens in the hotel and friendly staff.

No complaints

Perfect room to stay for a night on safari. Restaurant on-site was nice. I would recommend the Sri Lankan food over the western options. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The best thing was the shower! The water pressure was amazing and the temperature steaming hot which had been missing in lots of other places we stayed in Sri Lanka. It was a short walk to the elephant transit home

I booked this hotel for the water slide. Both were broken with rough concrete that would shred your back.

The resturant was good. The safari was awesome. There are only 6 rooms in the whole hotel.

We loved everything about this place

The staff was very welcoming and friendly. Rooms were spacious and clean. They’ve got fan and AC as well to fight the hot weather. Our family specifically loved the food provided at their Hungry Monkey restaurant. We had all three meals there. They had a huge variety of food and everything was delicious. Special thanks to Mr. David who was very caring and arranged everything for us. We took a quick swim in their beautiful pool as well. Overall it was a wonderful stay and will definitely come again

The room was fresh and spacious and well decorated. The Location was ideal. We were welcomed with a great drink and a cold towel. We ate dinner at the restaurant and it was very good. Even with all the wonderful aspects of the property, the staff was the standout. The main manager was so professional and knowledgeable and very present. He took care of a small issue with concern and speed. The experienced waitress who is the mom of a little girl provided world class service; we looked forward to seeing her at every meal.

My experience at Dhalaya Resort in the Udawalawe area was wonderful in every way! The location is characterized by stunning natural beauty, surrounded by breathtaking views that captivate the heart. The gardens of the resort are incredibly beautiful, filled with diverse trees and plants that create an atmosphere of tranquility and serenity. The service was highly professional, with staff always being warm and welcoming. The rooms were clean and impeccably arranged, adding a touch of comfort. The resort also offers a variety of recreational activities, such as safari trips to explore the wildlife. The hotel provides meals and drinks that guests can take with them on their safari trips. The restaurant serves delicious dishes that showcase the authentic flavors of Sri Lanka in a delightful way. I would like to thank the reception staff, especially the young lady Dilmi, for their kind welcome. I also extend my gratitude to the staff member Lakman for his professional service and room preparation. I cannot forget the lovely young lady in the restaurant, the amazing chef, and the restaurant manager David, who provided an exceptional experience in presenting the delicious Sri Lankan dishes. Lovely clean accommodation, really close to game reserve and the Elephant transit home. The restaurant attached to the hotel is great and really helpful with gluten free. Staff were all really helpful and friendly, in particular David and Sajini were exceptional. Would definitely recommend and we would stay here again.

Nothing - all our needs were met.

Loved our stay! Shout out to Gayantha who was always available to assist and make suggestions. Everyone on his team was friendly and keen to help which was wonderful. As other guests have noted the breakfast is huge! We tried different things on the dinner menu and they were all delicious. The rooms were very spacious and spotless, great air con and wifi and the bed and pillows were perfect. Pool and bar very welcome after a hot day. The location is great, just a 2 minute walk to the elephant orphanage. Outstanding stay.

The entire stay at Dhalaya was exceptional! Sri Lankan hospitality is unmatched, and the staff at Dhalaya were next level! We happened to be visiting on my wife's birthday, so I contacted them ahead of time with many special requests. They arranged our safari with the BEST driver/guide we've ever had at a very fair price. They also went out of their way to provide a surprise birthday cake, on the house. I also asked if they had hookah, which the owner said they would arrange for us. Come to find out, they had a hookah delivered from Colombo THE NEXT MORNING, just so we could use it that night. Absolutely amazing! The grounds were very well kept and the location was perfect. You're a short walk to the Elephant Transit House and a slightly longer walk (or short tuk tuk) ride from town. The rooms are spacious, beds comfortable and the shower had endless hot water. The on-site Hungry Monkey restaurant had some of the best curry and rice we've had so far! A HUGE thank you to the entire staff for their incredible care. There are many options in Udawale but in my opinion, Dhalaya Resort guarantees to make your stay in Udawalawe an absolute dream!

The soundproofing between rooms was non-existent.

Spotlessly clean little resort with great rooms, delicious food and friendly staff. All in a superb location. The bed was hands down the comfiest we have slept in in Sri Lanka so far.

Everything about this property was outstanding. The rooms were beautiful. Much better than expected. The most impressive aspect was the staff. Each and every member of staff went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. They thought of everything, even the maintenance and room staff were so thoughtful. There was nothing they wouldn't do, including the chef preparing a complete Sri Lankan banquet for our family, even though it wasn't on the menu. The team made this trip memorable for all the right reasons. I highly recommend visiting this hotel/resort. Special thanks to Davey and the restaurant staff for making us feel welcome and very happy!
