Amazing view, the family room was clean and spacious. We loved our stay at Gaia Ella! We took yoga/meditation classes in the evening and a cookery class in the afternoon which was a lot of fun.

The cookery class was a bit expensive considering you are not only cooking for yourself but for everyone else in the lodge! A part from that, we had a great experience at the eco lodge. FYI you have to walk up 130 steps to reach the lodge, but the view is breathtaking!

If you’re a traveller wishing to immerse yourself in the mountains and join a community brought together over yoga and shared meals - this is the place to come.  Jan, who runs the place and leads the yoga classes, trained in India and delivered incredibly transformative sessions - for both mind and body. Leaving ego at the door, he connected us all in the space and bought the energy of the group together.  Yoga here is more than just movement - it’s a way of life. His guidance was refreshing and grounding. It’s what truly made the experience and set us up for a beautiful, mindful holiday.  There’s a deeper story behind this place too - one of generosity, where they support schools in Sri Lanka by donating musical instruments and helping out in meaningful ways. Come here for deep relaxation, for resetting, and for grounding yourself in nature. Insane yoga classes, beautiful food and people, and our master bedroom was just what we needed!

We knew there was going to be stairs - and for a fit person, it really wasn’t so bad. We just planned more effectively, to minimise travel up and down!

Amazing place for yoga lovers! Yoga shala with breathtaking mountain view and beautiful and deep yoga classes with Jan. For your comfort the place serves breakfast and lunch/dinner by your request. We had a family room, it was spacious. Just note that you are in the mointains so it might feel a little humid.

The place is located on a hill, so climbing the stairs to the top might be a challenge for some, as it's quite steep. But it wasnt problem for us and our 8 year old.

Superb location with great views. The facilities were better than anticipated. Walking up the stairs were like a pilgrimage that takes you off the beaten track into a true Cloud9 experience. Well worth it. Al the guests we spoke to wanted to stay longer. You won’t be disappointed! The highlight of our stay in Sri Lanka. We are already thinking of when to come back! Super nutritious breakfast s and dinners too. We even had monkeys visit is too.

Staff was nice, the place is very laid back and has a lots of nature around.

As other reviews have mentioned, it’s a steep climb up to the property, some parts of that climb need repairing.

A truly magical place. Stunning views, impeccable cleanliness, and a warm, genuine welcome from the hosts made our stay unforgettable. The morning yoga class was an unexpected and wonderful highlight. Everything feels new, fresh, and thoughtfully designed. The short uphill walk to reach the ecolodge only adds to the charm and the sense of being in a unique, peaceful retreat. Highly recommended!

The view that opens up is breathtaking. Great place for Yoga and relaxing in the nature. The owner Jan is managing the hotel really well. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. Food was delicious and the yoga classes were really fun. Definitely recommend this place if you’re staying in Ella.

A great quiet hotel with amazing views to the mountain and the waterfalls. The personnel was super helpful. Meals were excellent including the breakfast offered. Dan and the team are organizing great Yoga sessions. Totally recommended. Not to be missed!

The road to reach at home. Its not good because no stair, even no proper foot steps. Not safe in road.

The location is great ! Not far from town although you have to climb up to reach the guesthouse, however the view is spectacular , probably the best in Ella !!! The family that run the place is lovely , she offers complimentary tea for all guest and if you are lazy to go down to town she cooks an amazing vegetable soup for a reasonable price . They also have a kitten ( kitty kitty ) that is super cute ! I miss him already 😭

The climb can be hard if you are not fit ! But lucky we are and I’ve found it a good exercise

The owner and her boy are the sweetest! Her English is not that good, but we used google translate. She helped us carry our suitcases up and down the stairs. You can sense how the place is very important to the family. The view is unbelievable and the breakfast is so good and varied with different local specialties. So good!

It is a bit of a walk from town and a climb up the stairs - especially in the wet season. Unfortunately we also got some leeches from walking in the night, but that is very common for Ella this time and the owner was very helpful and provides us with salt so that we could get rid of them.

The views are amazing. The room was large and comfortable with a good private bathroom. WiFi was excellent, the best we've had so far in Sri Lanka. Owners were very nice, helpful and friendly. The breakfasts were superb, best food we've had, very filling and different each day. The area is kept very clean. Would definitely stay again.

The path up to the accommodation needs the steps re-cutting as they are difficult in places

Actually, I had booked another hotel and I came here by mistake with my friend. And when I came there, I chose to stay here for this view. It is an incredibly beautiful, peaceful and absolutely beautiful place. Watching this beautiful view in the morning, hearing the sound of the birds, looking around was an incredibly nice experience. The price is very good, Most importantly, the room smelled clean. Usually rooms smell musty and you can't breathe, but here there is no musty smell at all. very close to the train station , walking distance is 10 minutes. The room was clean, the bathroom had hot water, internet connection perfect and in the room iron and ventilator etc. The lady who hosts me is incredibly hospitable and kind. She washed my clothes and gave me them, thank you very much🙏

You have to climb a little. It may be difficult if you have luggage. But when you get to the hostel, it's worth climbing for that beautiful view. Climbing is a bit dangerous because there are no stairs at the bottom or in the middle.😕

Amazing view, lovely garden for bird spotting! Cozy room!

It was a warm room, but luckily they had a fan which we used during the night.

The View was beautiful, the homestay is in the middle of a huge hill which is right in the jungle. Breakfast was good and made with love. The little garden in front of the homestay is really beautiful and clean.
