We had a wonderful stay with Nuwan and his family in their beautiful handmade cabin. The views from the accommodation are stunning and we had homemade breakfast each day including delicious fruit taken straight from the garden. Nuwan was a superb host - responsive, kind and generous. We wished we’d had dinner at the accommodation more than once as well as it was much better than the other places we tried in Sigirya. Nuwan also arranged tuktuks for us to get to Pidurangala Rock. Thank you so much for having us to stay!

We loved our stay here and would recommend it to everyone. So far, it has remained the nicest one we have stayed in and we already miss it. The room and bathroom are furnished beautifully, making it a very luxurious stay. The cabin is very private and has a nice view out over the fields. We woke up to birdsong and the nearby roosters, which we loved. The family who owns the stay is incredibly kind and looked after us well with snacks of fruit, great breakfast and a delicious dinner in their garden. They arranged for our Tuktuk to hike Pidurangala rock for sunrise which got us there before the large crowds and they also gave us bikes to use throughout our stay. It is well situated, a short tuktuk ride to main strips of restaurants, and a pleasant (albeit hot) cycle.

Beautiful and serene location surrounded by many fruit trees. Unfortunately, we were only able to stay one night, but I would love to come back here. The family that owns the place is warm and helpful with really cute kids. We had a truly authentic and delicious Sri Lankan meal. The jackfruit salad was my favourite along with the eggplant. The mangoes were from there own garden and truly something 😍😍

We absolutely loved our stay! The accommodation itself was beautiful, comfortable, and perfectly maintained, but what truly made our experience unforgettable was the kindness and warmth of the people who run it. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and cared for, always with a smile and genuine hospitality. We left with wonderful memories and a strong desire to return. Highly recommended!

This is a secret gem in Sigiriya! The host are the most beautiful and kind family. The room and bathroom which they built themselves was very clean and spacious. We decided to eat dinner at the property one night and thank god we did because we were blown away by the meal, the Dahl was one of the nicest things I have ever tasted, no exaggeration!

This place is outstanding. The attention to detail makes this homestay stand out. Run by a young couple who know how to look after their guests. Loved everything about this homestay: accommodation, food, view, and host family were incredible. A highlight of our trip around Sri Lanka.

Beautiful views of Pidurangala. The hosts and their cute child were helpful and welcoming. We had a home cooked dinner and breakfast there, with the dinner being our favourite in Sri Lanka! Would recommend.

Staying here was one of the most memorable parts of my trip to Sri Lanka. This small, family-run business is something truly special. The owner has lovingly hand-built a beautiful wooden room with a stunning open-air bathroom—surrounded by nature and full of thoughtful details that make it feel peaceful and unique. The view from the property is absolutely breathtaking—lush greenery, birdsong, and on clear days. It’s the perfect place to slow down and soak in the beauty of Sri Lanka. And the food! His wife’s cooking is beyond amazing. Every meal was fresh, flavourful, and made with such care. It felt like eating with family—every dish was a celebration of local ingredients and traditional home-cooked goodness. What makes this place even more special is the warmth of the hosts. You can feel the heart they’ve poured into their home and their hospitality. If you’re looking for a peaceful, authentic, and truly kind experience, don’t miss this gem. Highly recommended!

The hosts are the sweetest and most welcoming people we have encountered so far. The house is beautiful and very comfortable. The level of detail surprised us, 5-star hotels can learn a thing or two from this retreat! The breakfasts and dinners in the garden are out of this world and definitely a must when you stay here! The free bikes were a nice compliment. Would stay here again any day!

The most beautiful accommodation we’ve ever stayed in! We were warmly welcomed with a homemade juice – such a lovely touch. Everything was perfectly clean, like brand new – a beautifully made bed, a stunning bathroom, and thoughtful details everywhere. Tea, coffee, water, even cola, umbrella, hairdryer, fridge, air conditioning, fan, and even a power adapter – absolutely nothing was missing. And the surroundings? A lush garden full of fruit trees and a breathtaking view of Sigiriya Rock. Thank you for the perfect stay!

We had an amazing stay at Golden Rock Retreat. The house was located in a very tranquil place with an amazing view of Pidurangala rock. The cabin itself was well equipped with everything you need and thought of very well. Owners were the most loving people and made sure everything you desired was taken care of. Wifi was great, we had no trouble with two people streaming videos at the same time.

It was truly an incredible experience. Not only the welcoming hosts, but a dinner under the stars with Sri Lankan food, excellent breakfast, a balcony overlooking the rock and the jungle. Everything was perfect! Thanks to Noun, his wife and the entire family! Highly recommended!

This is quite possibly the best accomodation my partner and I have ever stayed in! The A frame room was very well built, amazing hosts and we rented bicycles to ride around the town. Breakfast included was a great bonus. We had dinner cooked by the hosts each night and it was delicious. The hosts were so kind and welcoming, we would encourage anyone to go ahead and book this place! Such a gem of a spot supporting a beautiful local family.

I can not stress enough how beautiful this property is, what an amazing find! To open your door in a morning and take in that view… spectacular. It’s so peaceful and we enjoyed sitting listening to the wildlife. I can’t believe how cheap it was, such amazing value for money. If we are ever in Sri Lanka again we will 100% go back, this is a must stay! The couple who run it are so friendly and kind, they make amazing food, all in all it’s just simply incredible!
