Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

We had a very nice stay in this clean and convenient room and bathroom. AC worked very well and mosquito net was convenient. We could also refill our water bottles downstairs. Host was very nice and gave us good advice on where to eat and go out in the surroundings. Location was also really good, we could easily walk to the beach and main street/restaurants of Hiriketiya. Thank you!

We had a great stay here. It is perfectly located between Hiriketiya and Dikwella beaches with just a few minutes of walking to each. We also enjoyed the water refilling station which was a great way to reduce plastic consumption. Our room was a bit too small for two but we managed and the property has multiple bigger rooms to offer as well. They also have a great balcony where you can hang your towels and swimsuits to dry. The staff is also lovely.

We really enjoyed our stay at hiriketiya hideaway. Clean rooms really & friendly owners. And close to the hiriketiya beach. Perfect base to rent a scooter and explore the area.

A card reader for taking payments would be great.
The property is new, clean and the aircon is great cooling the rooms down even when it's 36 degs outside. The staff are super friendly and allowed me to store my bags after check out. I was able to get some work done in the shade of the veranda with a fan to cool me. Location is fantastic for meeting up with friends on the more relaxed Dikwella beach, as well as the more hectic Hiri.

The accommodation at Gimantha's home was great. Everything was clean and nice, at the same time very close to all the places in Hiri. I have to specially mention Gimantha himself, who is really extremely reliable. He arranges everything and is very friendly. If you are travelling to Hiri, this accommodation will definitely satisfy you. We would be happy to return again.

The social side does lack a little, but that can’t be helped.
Host was outstanding, made us feel very at home and safe throughout our stay. He was very informative with the area and provided us with lots of suggestions and plans for each day of our visit to Hiriketiya. The whole place was very clean and well maintained. The accommodation was only a 10 minute to walk to the beach. We had a great stay here and would highly recommended.

The accommodation was really nice. Walking distance from everything. The host was super helpful and nice. The room we had was a bit small for the amount of luggage we brought but we didn’t mind at all. There is a nice hot shower and the airco works really well. Thank you for a lovely stay!

The beds were comfy and they had mosquito nets, everything was clean. The owner is just the sweetest guy. They offer free coffee and water and he even took us to the bus Station.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hiriketiya Hideaway, and I can't recommend it highly enough! The room was spotless, spacious, and beautifully appointed, with all the amenities. The bed was comfortable. One of the standout features was the exceptional service. The staff was friendly, professional, and always willing to help with any request, no matter how small. Whether it was offering local recommendations or providing extra towels, they made sure everything was taken care of. Overall our stay at Hiriketiya Hideaway was very good experience. This place is highly recommended.

Rooms were so small, we could hardly move around the bed and no space for bags. No WiFi. No atmosphere or vibe in this hotel. Better options elsewhere
