Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The house is lovely with a breathtaking view. The staff is so warm and welcoming, and made us feel at home right from the start. The breakfast was very very good and plentiful and it’s served in the garden at whatever time you need arranged. The place is very quiet at night and the bed is very comfortable, so a good night’s sleep is granted. The position is strategic because you can easily get to the 9 arches bridge and also to the trail leading to little Adam’s peak, but for everything else, a tuktuk can be arranged at any time.

i don’t think there is another hotel that can give you the same view than this one. The room was right up the nine arches bridge, which you can reach in just 15 minutes from he structure. The room was clean and everything is new ( they built it 6 months ago). We suggest you to have breakfast there, since you’ll experience a real Sri Lankan breakfast with an amazing view. The host and her husband were very helpful and kind, they’ve helped us a lot considering that the street to reach the structure is not accessible by car so they picked us up ( and our heavy luggages) with their tuk tuk

LithuaniaWe absolutely loved this place; it's like something out of a fairy tale. The room is brand new and spotless, with tea, coffee, and a small fridge. The hosts will provide all the necessary utensils if you want to eat in your room. Only breakfast is served here, but they can get you to Ella center in 10 minutes, where you'll find supermarkets and many restaurants. The view of the bridge is stunning – much better than from right next to the bridge itself, which you can easily walk to in 10-13 minutes from here. The hosts are incredibly kind people and helped us with everything. We're so glad we chose this place.

NetherlandsIt's not the easiest place to reach, with some stairs. We didn't mind, but it is good to keep in mind.
This place is truly amazing. The view is beautiful and you have the whole place to yourself. Extremely relaxing, especially ever visiting the somewhat chaotic center of Ella. The owners are lovely. I highly recommend staying at the Hobbit Hole Hideaway when visiting Ella. Best place to watch the Nine Arch Bridge from.

Gorgeous little retreat in the hills above Ella. Beautifully built and with everything you need (except perhaps air con!). Amazing view across 9 arch bridge, which is directly below. Lovely breakfast. Very kind hosts always happy to drop/collect from Ella (about a 10min tuk tuk ride).

GermanySasil and her family were very kind and helpful. They are amazing hosts. I highly recommend to stay there, they made our stay perfect. Only thing is, when you reach the property you need to walk down on a hilly way and if you reach there at night it is very dark. Sasil's brother hepled us to go to the property but I suggest that they should renew the way of walking and put some lights around the stairs and the way to the property

NetherlandsWe would recommend to install an AC in the room or install a insect screen at the door so you could open the doors for a few hours because it is more chill at night time.
We loved our stay at Hobbit Hole Hideaway in Ella – a cozy and unique place surrounded by nature. The highlight was definitely the unbeatable view of the Nine Arch Bridge right from the property – truly the best spot to see it! Everything was clean and peaceful, and the hosts were incredibly kind.

GeorgiaBecause of its remote location, many of the houses around the area source from rainwater. Due to this the water pressure was kept lower than comfortable for the shower and there was one instance of water running out which wasn't ideal. MOST IMPORTANTLY - Bring the payment for the booking in CASH as the pay is not taken from the website or by card. Thankfully we had that exact amount but fair warning to fellow travelers.
This little cottage in the mountains of Ella took my breath away! The soft fog in the afternoon, the sun rays highlighting the view of the Nine Arches Bridge, the soft pattering of rain.. this was the perfect getaway for relaxing and getting some peace of mind. Our host was a lovely lady and her family (I didn't catch their names) treated us so well and with such a smile. She prepared for us the most delicious papaya smoothie that I still dream about and breakfast upon request. The home cooked meal was one of the best and most memorable meals we had on the island! Keep in mind the location is about a 40-minute walk from Ella Town, but we had no discomfort walking back and forth at all, although tuk tuks are available along the road if you get tired or caught in the rain.

SloveniaEverything was perfect, there isnt a single thing I would change.
Perfect! Everything was absolutely amazing. The view is fantastic, food was delicious, it was extremely clean, quiet at night, the staff was very helpful and very nice. It is a completely new room, build about a month ago so everything is new, nothing is broken, it also looks amazing. Room was big, had enough storage space, toilet and shower are separated which is another plus. The shower was modern and definitely the best and the cleanest we had in Sri Lanka, same goes for the room and terrace. The hanging net is only yours to use, it is safe and again, like everything else, compeltely new. Towels, coffee, tea are provided. Breakfast costed 5€ and it included food and juice, highy recommend. Less than 10min walk to the Nine arches bridge and 5min tuktuk ride to Ella town, you can also walk over the bridge and then to Ella. There is not a single thing that could be done better.

United KingdomWe loved Hobbit Hideaway. But please be aware it’s very hard to get a car to the venue. So it’s best to arrange the Tuk Tuk to meet you at the top of the road. And there are lots of steps. Breakfast was excellent. Otherwise it’s an amazing room and view is AWESOME.

United KingdomHobbit Hole Hideaway is an amazing place to stay in Ella. The view is absolutely stunning- you can see the bridge from the bed! I spent a long time relaxing on the terrace soaking in the view! The cabin is brand new and very well designed. The hosts are super kind and thoughtful and cannot do enough for you. I stayed two nights and enjoyed a beautiful Sri Lankan breakfast both days. A tuktuk can be arranged into town or just to the top entrance. I wish you the very best with your new property you’re doing a fantastic job!!! Thank you so much 😊 This property would not work if you have limited mobility or lots of luggage as there are quite a few steps down.

United KingdomNothing significant at all. The owner allowed us to store our bags in her house on checkout day for a few hours. The breakfast was outstanding and she even brought our washing in when it rained whilst we were out tea picking!
Love this place. Not inexpensive, but you really do get what you pay for. Its private, the view is amazing and having been into Ella....i wouldn't have enjoyed anywhere else as its a party town and we value our peace and quiet. Handy to walk up to Little Adam's peak and friendly little corner shop at end of the road.

NetherlandsThere was nothing that I did not like. However be aware that you have to get down some stairs to get to the place. If you’re really old or can’t walk well this may not be an ideal place to stay.
This is a new accomodation and i was incredibly amazed by it. It’s literally a hobbit home with a fantastic fairytale view on the bridge. Shower was hot and bed was really nice. It’s super modern on the inside and the little garden is really cute and spacious. You could hang out there and watch the trains pass by for hours. I actually can not think of anything that could be better. It was amazing. And for that price it’s such a gem!
