I would highly recommend this place. Desmond the hotel manager was so friendly and helpful. He gave us options on tours with no pressure to take them. But when he did arrange for Kuma to take us around the old city his knowledge and English were excellent. At the hotel the pool was a welcome relief after the heat of the day. The chef produced some fantastic food and everything was at a very reasonable price. Apart from us all the other guests were cheerful and we all got along. Thank you Desmond and Staff

A nice place to stay in Anurâdhapura, in a quiet area located in the south of the city. The room was simple but very clean and sufficient for a stay where to spend your day discovering the cultural beauties of this beautiful are of Sri Lanka. The small swimming pool is really a 'plus' to refresh when you come back to the hotel to rest after a long day of discovery! The breakfast and also meals were very good and affordable. We have taken some dinners as it was very convenient to enjoy the hotel in the evening, on the top of the daily breakfasts. The owner and all the people from the hotel had been really very welcoming and help for information and find a car to continue our trip. Thank you again for your well appreciated help! :-)) I can only recommend the Kutumbaya hotel for your stay in Anurâdhapura!

Breakfast is average. Place is nearby a noisy road ( although quiet at night). It does leave an impression of not beeing very clean place despite the effort of the staff.

Dorm was a bit small at full capacity and the shower head was broken. But i assume that’s fixed asap. There were two shower-heads so it actually wasn’t an issue. Nonetheless, i would definitely recommend!!

The road can be a bit noisy at rush hours, but this is easily countered with AirPods if you want to sleep in late, and it also made for great people watching as all sorts of vehicles go by in their daily routines.

Upul was very helpful and attentive! It was very convenient to be able to eat on site and the food was very good, in particular, the Sri Lankan lunch buffet. The room was spacious with lots of horizontal counter space and the shower had good water pressure and lots of hot water. We walked around the local neighbourhood a bit and felt safe. The pool surrounded by lovely plants and greenery was also great to cool off in after a hot morning exploring the ancient city. Our guide for the ancient city tour and late afternoon drive to Mihintale was Kumar; if you get a chance to go with him, you will be extremely satisfied!

Comfortable dorms with good showers and toilet. The host is extremely helpful for planning a memorable stay in the city. Via Kutumbaya we got a tour with Kumar, I highly recommend you asking for him if you want to learn about the ancient history of the city. Other than that the AC in the room worked very well and the pool is a huge plus which make this accommodation quite luxurious.

After we showered the second night 3 cockroaches showed up in our room. Since it’s on the ground floor and they get attracted by moist i don’t think there’s anything to be done about that. We didn’t say anything to the staff about it either.

The staff is amazing. Everyone is so friendly, especially Upul. He was always asking if we were OK and if we needed anything. He gave us a lot of information about the things to do around Anuradhapura without being pushy and was always transparent about the costs. He arranged everything for our trips (guide, transport,..) so we didn’t have to worry about anything. There’s a cosy bar with good food. I loved going for a swim in the pool after returning from our trips. The room was basic but it had everything we needed, including good working airconditioning and a fridge. For the people complaining about the mosquitoes: Just get a good repellent :)

We weren’t fond of the English breakfast, I guess the Sri Lankan breakfast is better but you have to order it a day in advance.

The pool was a huge plus as it was really hot during our stay. It was also clean. The stuff told us about the ruins in Ritigala which was a very good recommendation a little bit off the beaten path.

Our bathroom door had a badly broken handle. There was absolutely nowhere to hang anything. Not much around the hotel, and it's on quite a busy road.

Small hotel that was quiet when we stayed. Friendly manager and team, who served a very good breakfast both mornings. The pool was lovely after a day looking at the ancient city. The outdoor showers are an interesting addition. Good value
