Review Great location with a beautiful view of the lake and lovely garden. Milan is a superb host. From the moment we arrived we felt so welcomed and looked after. He arranged a fantastic guide for Mihintale and the next day the same guide took us to the ancient city. Milan knows the guides well and selected to match our wants. Then there is the food - cooked by mum - we think she should be on Masterchef. We had dinner on the first night and it was so special we ate there our second night as well. Milan shared the history of the dishes and arranged dishes to our taste (authentic but not too spicy). Comfy bed. Lovely bathroom. Great aircon. The room was perfect. We highly recommend Lake Wave. If we return to Sri Lanka we will return to this place too.

The hotel is comfortable and well located, near a very pleasant lake. The owner, Milan, and his family were very kind and helped us with everything we needed. We had dinner and breakfast there, and everything was delicious. 100% recommended!

Don’t hesitate to book this hotel. Milan is a very friendly host who takes a genuine interest in his guests and tries to create a program tailored to them during their stay. You can also come here for delicious food. He asked us what we had already eaten so he could suggest something we really had to try, and he also took our daughter into account. He employs a fantastic guide who can show you the most beautiful spots in Anuradhapura. We absolutely enjoyed the way Milan welcomed us and how he was eager to share more of Sri Lankan culture with us.

Milan is an exceptional host. He organised our tuk tuk driver for the old city and Mihintale and the quality and price were excellent. The meals were great and the lake front location was outstanding. It kept the temperature down and provided a nice pathway around the lake for strolls and still walking distance to the centre of town. Milan also arranged for a driver to take us to Habarana who was cheaper than the Pick Me (Uber) price. Highly highly recommend!

Actually let me sum this up for you: -perfect room, clean, airco, small balcony (+view lake) -food 10/10 -hospitality 11/10 -small clothing shop (owners mom), self-made/sewn --> Etihad had our luggage so we were forced to buy clothes but my god was this the most friendly woman in Sri Lanka, even adapted a dress to my size and with the leftovers made a hair band for free. -nice walk around the lake -market acrosse the lake worth visiting -GO HERE.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Lake Wave Hotel, thanks in large part to the young owner, Milan. He went above and beyond to make our family of five feel welcome and well-cared for. On the spot and short notice, Milan expertly arranged perfectly suited excursions for us both within and around Anuradhapura. After our adventures, we were treated to delicious dinner and breakfast options. Highlights included the flavorful Jackfruit curry, breadfruit curry, and string hoppers, all served with tasty sambal and roti. Every meal was truly special and delicious! Beyond the fantastic food and excursions, Milan even took the time to teach "us boys" how to excel at billiards – a fun and unexpected bonus. The hotel's location is also ideal, with a 2.5 km footpath surrounding a beautiful lake situated right between the hotel and the water. It was perfect for an early morning run. We will definitely be staying at Lake Wave Hotel again on our next visit to Anuradhapura.

We should have stayed longer.

Lovely spot next to the lake with a little garden with two hammocks. The family who runs it are very friendly and helpful. We had both breakfast, lunch and dinner there and the food was great! They made a big effort at breakfast to provide things for our children that they would like. We left early the last day and they got up and made a packed breakfast we could eat on the train. Our familyroom was nice with comfortable beds.

The hotel is in a beautiful place right by a lake, and the owner is lovely and really helpful! He helped us plan our trip, organised a great tuktuk driver/guide for the city at a very reasonable price, and even showed us to a restaurant with amazing and cheap local food. We also had a meal at the hotel, which was great Sri Lankan home cooking. I really recommend staying here!!

The room is very basic but has everything you need

I don’t know where to start! If you are looking for a wonderful location with the most beautiful people, pick here! Milan is so incredibly helpful & organised the best tours we took in Sri Lanka. We learnt so much from our guides and the prices were very low. Milan’s mother (amma!) is an amazing cook and seamstress. The food they cooked us was amazing and between them they organised many different foods that we had not tried before. The garden is absolutely beautiful with the hammocks and leads out to the lake which has a new path you can walk around. The hotel is full of beautiful plants everywhere! Amma makes the most wonderful clothes and other items. I had some trousers and tops made specially in fabrics I chose and love them! We really enjoyed our time here but mainly we loved spending time with Milan & his amma. We were very sad to leave and can’t wait to return some day :)

Its in a quiet neighborhood. The rooms were okay. Not super clean but had all the facilities. The owner accommodated our request to provide breakfast.

The bed broke in the night and I had to find alternate sleeping arrangements. I felt the linen was not cleaned properly. The place needs an ungraded.

Property was quiet, in a pleasant waterfront location. Room was a good size, bathroom was new and adequate. Good air-conditioning and WiFi. Breakfast was extra, good Sri Lankan breakfast. The owner was extremely helpful in all aspects and especially going to the trouble of sending belongings we left behind, by courier to our next hotel.I was very grateful for his effort in this.

Could have a kettle in the room. We asked and one was supplied.

Great place to stay in Anuradhapura, the garden with view on the lake is so nice, especially after a very hot day. Milan is an incredible host, so welcoming and helpful, it was a true pleasure to meet him! The food (both breakfast and dinner) was copious and amazing - among the best ive had during my trip in Sri Lanka!

great location for morning walks around the lake

Milan is super nice, helpful and organized, the best Tuk Tuk drivers for excursions. The rooms are simple. Good air conditioning, comfortable bed and your own bathroom. The garden and the view are very beautiful, located right on the lake. Breakfast and dinner are prepared by Milans mom. Both very tasty and only recommended. It felt like a homestay. I can only recommend it .

Large rooms, with comfortable beds. The A/C was working great, and in terms of cleanliness it was pretty good. The beds were really comfortable too. The host Milan was superb, and attentive to our needs and his mom cooks amazing food! The whole complex is very nice, with a nice yard. Milan also has bikes to rent.

WiFi was decent, there were times that we had trouble with connection.

The atmosphere is relaxed and informal. The hotel host and staff are very helpful and friendly. The location, near the centre of the new town, on the bank of a lake, is perfect. There is a hotel garden, bordering the lake and the rooms have all thinkable modern facilities (super showers), ours even had a small balcony. Sulanda, the mother of the host, has a small tailoring workshop in the hotel. She is a good and experienced tailor. What more do you want!?

Our host Milan was attentive, polite, and well spoken. He took the time to explain everything from the delicious food he served up to the sights and attractions in the area. The accommodation itself is a cute lakeside hotel with a beautiful lush garden. The quality of the food was amazing. Local SriLankan dishes with local ingredients served with care and attention to detail.

It's hard to fault for the price.

Backing on to the lake gives walking access to some restaurants. Great host but don’t challenge him to a game of pool because he will probably beat you!

Great place to stay in Anuradhapura! In a lovely quiet location on the edge of town with a lovely back garden overlooking the lake. Convenient to the temples but peaceful - the breeze from the lake made the garden a lovely place to relax after visiting the temples. Milan and his family are wonderful hosts and the home cooked food is great. My room was also spotless and very comfortable. Milan also organized perfect tuk-tuk trips for me with an excellent driver who also acted as guide. Siri was extremely knowledgeable about his hometown and the temples - he did not simply parrot what it says in the guidebooks! This was a truly exceptional place to stay when visiting Anuradhapura!

Great place to stay - totally recommend!

The location is good being on the lake with a walking path. The room was clean and comfortable with a fridge and balcony. The meals served are great, tried breakfast, lunch and dinner here and all were fantastic. I recommend.
