We had a truly wonderful stay. The staff is very attentive, helpful, and extremely friendly. You can tell they are all well trained—it really shows as a guest. The rooms are very clean, beautifully equipped, and spacious. You can swim in the lovely heated pool, play tennis, badminton, or even mini golf. The food was excellent, and the breakfast was plentiful and very delicious. We would love to come back if we travel to Sri Lanka again. Highly recommended!

What an amazing hotel. We were treated like royalty; the staff were so kind and friendly. It was Sri Lankan New Year when we stayed and the hotel hosted some fun party games for the guests on the lawn. We were made to feel so welcome. The room was spacious and the bed was comfy. The view from our balcony was incredible. The food was delicious - the chef even went out of his way to prepare a special curry for me. The grounds are beautiful and there is a short walk directly into the tea plantations from the hotel.

The bathroom was a little tired so didn’t feel like 5 stars. It didn’t affect our overall experience though. We stayed at Langdale as part of our honeymoon and also informed the hotel about it prior. Opposite to other hotels we stayed at where we got a little something, like a cake, decorated bed, candlelit dinner or similar, we didn’t get this here. A little something here would have made a difference.

Absolutely stunning property, it almost felt fairytale like watching the green hills around us while playing minigolf or taking a stroll around the tea plantation. Very very picturesque. We also enjoyed the heated pool and my husband the tennis court. The service was also very good and a la carte breakfast excellent.

The dining room is poor and an ordinary space . Needs windows overlooking the view . If you can get a table on the conservatory that is a much better area. Dining room staff were a bit slow and disorganised but the food was good.

Breakfast was good . Dining room lacks any atmosphere. The setting is breathtaking and beautiful walks into the tea plantation Heated swimming pool and was wonderful !!

Nothing. Our stay was absolutely perfect

The location was amazing, set in the middle of acres of tea plantations. Peaceful, scenic and refined this is an amazing property with amazing staff who could not have done any more to make our stay just great. The breakfast was very high quality with impeccable service and a beautiful view through the open windows looking out on to the countryside. We also had dinner both nights of our stay and again the standard was very high. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here on my next trip to Sri Lanka.

Nice colonial style hotel but the prices are at the higher end.

The bar area is not very comfortable, no tables at the lounge area and the high stools are not meant to sit for long. Also the bed hasn't been super comfortable.

The hotel is an old tea plant and is designed in a very colonial style way. Staff was attentive and nice. We also had the dinner included in our booking. Overall it's a good stay but it was the most expensive stay we had in Sri Lanka and compared to all other hotels given the price levels, we did not get the same comfort.

Luxury in the middle of a tea plantation

This hotel exceeded our expectations .We’ve been treated like royalty. The service is of a 5 star hotel. And the best part is that it’s in the middle of nature. This is a 13 room boutique hotel in the middle of a tea plantation , nothing else contaminates the sights. I wouldn’t hesitate one second on choosing this hotel over any of the 5 star hotel in the centre of the town. The extra mileage is more than justified. As you go further to the west from Nuwara Eliya the landscape gets better and better, more unspoiled. The views are unbeatable and the building is a charming 130 years old planters bungalow recently rehabilitated that is spotless clean and in a perfect state of maintenance. The food is outstanding . We were on a half board basis which I strongly recommend , not that you have many other options but you don’t need them either because once in the hotel you don’t want to leave any more. We enjoyed all the activities offered . Please don’t miss the Horton Plains hike . It’s very easy and very gratifying. We saw deers in the wild and impressive views. You don’t need a guide if you don’t want to. We also walked around the property and through the tea plantation , magic landscape , swim on the warm swimming pool and visit the tea factory, a must. Also try to buy as much tea as you can at Somerset. It’s premium quality at very affordable prices compared to Europe . In addition, as our train was delayed they kindly offered us a late check out. I would strongly recommend this hotel if you are planning to come to Nuwara Eliya and you want luxury in the middle of nature.

    Absolutely nothing. Everything was perfect.

The staff were super professional and helpful. One time I went to for a sightseeing, they contacted their regular company. We were supposed to arrive at 4 pm, but I asked the driver to pass by a local shop, at 5 pm they were calling the driver to check if I'm okay or not. They also celebrated my birthday. This is perfect place for whoever is looking for elite standards.

The location could not be more perfect. A gorgeous cottage right in the middle tea fields, you could not ask for a better way to experience the Nuwara Eliya/ Nanu Oya hill country. The staff were exceptional in theory professionalism and friendliness. The fppd was exquisite. And the view will be forever seared into my memory as what heaven might look like. If you manage to pull yourself away from the delights of the cottage, the Somerset Tea Factory tour was absolutely exceptional. My friend had already been on a tea factory tour and for me the trip was really perfunctory (when in Rome) but it was absolutely fascinating, I learned so much. I could not recommend it more. A top tea-er experience!!

Breakfast and dinner set menu options were very limited. Also I think meal prices were expensive. I would prefer to eat in restaurants at city center. Breakfast meal size could be improved.

Location, staff, room, quality of the service and the old britidh style of the hotel. Tea plantation tracks, and the view from the hotel
