Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThere are alot of ants and insects in the bathroom, and you can't leave the doors open for too long as mosquitoes will come in. The location of the hotel isn't the best either as theres nothing around. I would recommend staying here only for one night to visit Wilpattu National park. Even then the hotel is actually 20km away from Wilpattu.
The staff, especially Meneka, were incredible! They were very attentive and polite. The hotel rooms are big.

Sri LankaI had a comfortable stay at this hotel. The rooms and facilities were well-maintained and provided a relaxing environment. The diner and breakfast options were good, offering a variety of tasty dishes. Overall, a pleasant experience.

AustraliaOur stay at Lavendish Wild was deeply disappointing, and we feel compelled to warn others — particularly women — about the experience we had. The male manager’s behaviour was nothing short of disgraceful. He was rude, arrogant, and openly misogynistic. During check-in, he blatantly belittled and spoke down to his female staff in front of us. He refused to acknowledge my female companion, directing all conversation exclusively toward me, simply because I am a man. It was uncomfortable, offensive, and completely unacceptable — especially in this day and age. His entire demeanour was smarmy and unlikable, leaving a very sour impression from the outset. His only redeeming action was helping us charge our electric tuk tuk, but even that came with an attempt to overcharge us — demanding double what other hotels had previously charged — and only backing down when we refused. The hotel itself is in poor condition. With serious maintenance and a complete cultural shift in leadership, it could be something special, but right now it falls well short. The atmosphere is strange and uninviting, adding to the overall discomfort of our stay. Breakfast was average at best. The only positive aspect was the kindness and professionalism of the other staff, especially Mairnika, who looked after our room with care and grace — despite clearly working under difficult and discouraging conditions. We would strongly advise against staying here. There are far better options closer to the Wilpattu park entrance, and none of them (we hope) tolerate the kind of backward, disrespectful behaviour we

United KingdomI recently had the pleasure of staying at Lavendish Hotel, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The hotel offers a perfect blend of comfort, hospitality, and a great atmosphere. The rooms were clean, spacious, and well-equipped with all the necessary amenities. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, always ready to assist with a smile. Special thanks goes to Pradeep the manager of the property. One of the highlights of my stay was the beautiful ambiance and the peaceful surroundings, making it a perfect place to relax. The food was also fantastic, with a variety of delicious options to choose from. Whether you’re traveling for business or leisure, Lavendish Hotel is a great choice for a comfortable and memorable stay. I highly recommend it!

ItalyWe arrived at this 4-star resort with high expectations but were immediately disappointed. The reception was dirty, with mold on the ceiling. Our rooms were infested with cockroaches, bugs, and spiders, even on the bed. After calling the manager, we were moved to another room, which was still dirty, with stains, dust, and no hot water for showers. Breakfast was terrible—just omelets, a few slices of papaya, and coffee. Worse, our luggage got infested with white bugs from the old wooden furniture, spreading into our clothes and toiletries. The pool was green and full of worms, completely unusable. Despite all this, the manager, Praveen, refused to waive any charges and was very rude. We left after one night, losing half a day of sightseeing in Anuradhapura. We found a much cleaner, friendlier hotel for $30—avoid this place at all costs. It’s not worth 4 stars!
The staff (not the manager) is friendly
