How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewNestled in the greenery with the breathtaking views, this is place you want to enjoy for more than one day. It's situated little bit uphill, but really short walk from/to the beaches. There are two rather different beaches, so you have a choice of very natural and rather long Silent Beach that is great for walks and fun in the waves, or closer Unakuruwa Beach, which is more sheltered and thus better suited for swimming. We enjoyed very much the yoga deck for our morning practice. Although there were no classes at the time of our visit, we were perfectly fine by ourselves. Also, there is a huge, well managed garden as a part of property, so your privacy is guaranteed. Breakfast were plentiful and very tasty. There is a possibility to preorder also dinner, which actually is a good idea if it gets really warm, as there is always a nice breeze up there. We had 2 very spacious rooms, both very comfortable and balcony views were simply great. The whole place is very green, taken care of and calm. If you want to slow down a bit and enjoy the nature, this is a right place.
We stayed there for 4 nights, and it was not enough :)

Verified reviewThe Little Tamarind is a wonderful place to stay. Gorgeous views, outstanding breakfast and facilities, and walking distance to Sri Lanka’s most beautiful beaches. Each morning two Grey Hornbills came to visit us. Very accommodating, friendly and attentive staff.
Nothing, we enjoyed our stay very much.

Verified reviewA fantastic location in a sleepy seaside village. Two mins walk to the beach. I was the only guest but Eli, Sunny and the team really made me feel very welcome, and accommodated changes in my booking. The breakfast that was included was excellent. It's an ideal place for a short visit to unwind.

Property based on a huge hill with steps. Be mindful when booking with elderly/young children. The little house is outdated and is situated about 2 minutes from the main hotel, be aware if booking as a group.

Verified reviewGreat location. Friendly staff. Good breakfast
The owner booked us in knowingly on a day when a religious ceremony was being broadcast from 2 loud speakers in a house directly below. They should not have taken bookings as it went on all evening and night to 5am without interruptions. No sleep was had at all. Not worth the price. Check before you book.
Dear Richard As explained to you number of times. There was a religious ceremony that is not coordinated with us - no one knows when it start when it is finished etc. This event is very rare and you were unfortunate to be disturbed by it It may happen in any village and any place across Sri Lanka. We would not know it in advance and could not estimate when it is going to end nor we can stopped that. I do hope that you come again and enjoy , like many other guests before, the quiet and serenity that little tamarind offers.

Verified reviewIt’s a beautiful place in the nature and just 5’ walk to the amazing silent beach. Ruth and the rest of the team were so so nice! The room is so big and comfortable, colonial style with a big bed and cozy mosquito net, you can spend hours in the terrace with views of the sea and the noises of the jungle, at night you can see the stars from the bed, it’s so beautiful! The dinner and the breakfast were delicious!! The even allow us to stay a little bit longer and do the check out later :-) You can relax in the main common areas within the hotel, certainly we recommend this charming place to stay in one of the most beautiful beaches in Sri Lanka. We totally recommend to stay here!!
Everything was perfect!!

Verified reviewWe stayed in the family suite - large, very comfortable, with outstanding 180 views from the balcony. There are two exceptional beaches within five minutes walk. Silent Beach to the left was pristine, few people and wonderful if slightly choppy swimming. Fisherman's Beach in the other direction was easier swimming, most people were there for the surfing. Lovely relaxed vibe. Both had great friendly places to eat and drink. One of us was celebrating a big birthday and we were treated to breakfast on the balcony with flowers from the garden and a cake for tea which all the team came out to share. Very special. To add that the hotel is set in large gardens in the heart of a friendly village (we were greeted by everyone), with a number of recommended home cooking restaurants. Enjoy! An amazing place.

Verified review+ team is amazing, extremely helpful and nice + location is great + room was spacious, terrace huge and the view astonishing
- natural airing and cooling (no ac, sliding layered windows, sliding doors, airing holes in the doors and between window panes) results in drafts, bed is placed exactly on the route of such a draft, hence it was constantly drafting. Got a cold due to this - concrete floors/tiles are not pleasant for bare feet due to draft - no hairdryer and no comfortable bathroom lighting (mirror)

Verified reviewThis is a peaceful calm hotel with wonderful staff. The facilities are limited but because it is trying to connect you to your location, not fancy silly things. Ruth, Sunny and the staff are very kind and attentive. It’s was a lovely stay. Very relaxed.
I needed better connection for WiFi. But I understand this is not the ethos of this hotel. Consider this if you need to be online often.

No WiFi in the room, and total oversight from our end when booking there is no AC in the room. Sri Lanka is way too hot at the time of year we visited to not have AC in the room.
