Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

This place is an absolute gem! You definitely want to stay here when you are in Ella. Beautiful view, super kind host, silent around you and quite quickly you are in the busy streets of Ella for a fun evening! Also can't forget to mention the best breakfast we have had during our 3 week trip through Sri Lanka.

Netherlandsnothing, whish we could have stayed longer. place is fully booked long in advance, so book timely.
On the top of a mountain 10 minutes by tuktuk from the centre of Ella, a fantastic little house with beautiful views. Very tasteful and modern design, two floors. Excellent beds, balcony that you don;t want to leave. Most helpful owner. Great breakfast. Very steep small road last part to the house, so if you are with your own transport, better to ask the owner to pick you up 5 minutes down at the main road. Tuktuks can make it to the house with local experienced drivers. Great start for walks. Great privacy, not other tourist around, but at 7 minutes walk several small (3-4 table) local restaurants with much better food than down town Ella.

What a fantastic place to stay, and the sweetest family! It's the last house on the mountain. The view is phenomenal. We loved the view and the peace and quiet. We thoroughly enjoyed it on the veranda. There's a real atmosphere here. The accommodation is new. The owner, Laksna, designed and built the house himself. We haven't seen anything comparable in Sri Lanka. Beautiful furnishings and design, done with great care and attention. The accommodation (which reminded us of a luxury mountain hut in Austria) is super clean. The bed is new; a very thick, comfortable mattress. A lovely bathroom. Shampoo and coffee and tea facilities are also provided. Nothing was too much trouble for the owner (who speaks good English). For example, he arranged a perfectly clean room for our driver and picked us up and dropped us off by tuk-tuk (this accommodation is less suitable for people with limited mobility, although Laksna was always willing to drop us off and pick us up). And then there's the food. Mother and aunt cooked delicious meals for us twice. The flavors were fantastic, and the selection was enormous. Just like breakfast. For us, the best food we had in Sri Lanka! My mother, aunt, and other family members are incredibly sweet, hospitable people who work from the heart. They truly care about their guests and do everything they can to make their stay as comfortable as possible. We also enjoyed the sweet dog, Maniki. Thank you so much, Laksna and family, for the wonderful stay! We will always remember you.

NetherlandsWe had the most incredible overnight stay at Miracle View in Ella – truly one of the highlights of our trip to Sri Lanka. The unit is perched on top of a hill with breathtaking panoramic views over the surrounding mountains – absolutely stunning at sunrise and sunset. It felt like a peaceful escape, yet warm and welcoming at the same time. The house itself is beautifully designed – cosy, comfortable, and clearly built with love. We learned that the host personally built the home, completing it just four months before our stay, and the care and craftsmanship really shows. The beds were super comfortable, and every detail of the space made it feel like a hidden gem in the hills. One of the most heartwarming parts of our visit was how wonderfully the host connected with our 5-year-old daughter. She instantly took a liking to him, and he was so kind and playful with her – even letting her help cook breakfast in the morning. Speaking of breakfast – WOW. It was hands down the best we’ve had during our entire trip (possibly ever!). I would come back just for that alone. They are currently working on building additional units, and if they’re anything like the one we stayed in, I’m sure they will be absolutely fantastic. The host’s warmth and hospitality made us feel right at home. We left with full hearts and hope to return someday soon. If you’re visiting Ella, I 100% recommend staying at Miracle View. It truly lives up to its name!

Netherlands-
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Miracle View. The cottage is spacious, comfortable, and very clean, with lovely beds and a great shower. Waking up with the truly stunning view each morning was a joy. The host is incredibly friendly and helpful. Every morning, a generous and varied breakfast was served, with something different each day. A real luxury to start the day. The house is located on top of a hill, which gives you those amazing views. It’s quite a challenging climb on foot, but the host was always happy to pick us up, even when we had our own tuk-tuk. For trips to the center, he also arranged a reliable tuk-tuk taxi without any trouble. All in all, a wonderful place to stay with a warm welcome, great facilities, and service that truly stands out. We would definitely come back.

United Arab EmiratesAlso, the road leading to the property is quite narrow—only a small car or tuk-tuk can make it up. Our driver couldn’t drop us off directly, so we had to rely on Laksha to pick us up from the main road, which felt a bit inconvenient—but he was kind enough to help, and we truly appreciated it. Despite that small challenge, we would absolutely love to stay here again if we return to Ella!
What a lovely cabin—literally perched on top of the mountain! It features a huge balcony with an epic, breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains. The cabin has two spacious bedrooms—one on the ground floor and one upstairs—with comfortable beds that can easily accommodate two people. Laksha and his mother were kind, warm, and accommodating. They served us an amazing breakfast, which was such a treat after our early morning hike to Little Adam’s Peak. There's no AC, but it was cold during our stay, so we didn’t mind at all. Just a heads-up: bring cash if possible, as there’s a 3% charge for credit card payments.

United KingdomThere was nothing we didn’t like about the property.
Lakshar’s beautifully crafted and fitted out cabin is a little slice of heaven perched high on a mountain top with stunning views. You literally feel on top of the world, in an oasis of calm. But you are just 10 mins in a Tuk Tuk from lively Ella. What a spot! And what a wonderful host Lakshar is too. Kind, gentle and full of ideas for how to spend your days, always on hand to sort transport. And to wake you up when you order breakfast for a certain time and oversleep by an hour because it is so peaceful! And wow. What a breakfast. Delicious! Lakshar’s mother is a fabulous cook. The quantity and variety is enough to keep you going all day. Thank you so much for looking after us and our teenage daughters so well.

He was incredibly kind, always ready with helpful advice, and even supported us with some personal matters during our trip—something we truly appreciated. The breakfasts were generous and delicious. United KingdomNothing. If you struggle with walking then the last bit up to the cabin would be tricky - but it’s just a short uphill slope where the road finishes. Less than five minutes walking.
Away from the hustle of town and up on a beautiful quiet ridge with a stunning sunrise and sunset view. A new cabin, nicely fitted out with a separate upstairs for our daughter to sleep. Kind hosts who helped us with bags from the station when it poured with rain. And a tasty and generous breakfast.

IndiaRather than dislike, i would term it as adventure! Accessing the property was in fact a lovely adventure as the road access is under construction. But it's all worth it! Trust me.
We stayed in 6 properties during our holidays in Sri Lanka and this was the best property we came across. Too comfortable rooms, beds and the property itself is very attractive. And the view is indeed it's a miracle. The owner is very very co-operative and a good human being. Breakfast was also awesome. it was homely atmosphere.

SpainWow! This was such a special place to have found. It really gets you into the mountains, with a beautiful 100m walk up into the summit of a gorgeous viewpoint. (Sunrise and Sunset). The privacy was unmatched and was perfect for a couple to enjoy the beauty. The cabin is very good quality and extremely cozy for those Ella nights. Lakshan, is one of the kindest hosts you could possibly ask for! He arranged a bike for us, amazing rain gear, and also offered tuktuk rides whenever we needed them. Breakfast was wonderful and delicious every morning (whatever time you request). We stayed for 4 days but wish it could have been longer. For sure coming back! With Love, Alba and Justin

GermanyNo problem for us, but be aware there is an about 100 Meter steep rocky path that you need to walk up to the homestay. No car/ tuk tuk can go all the way up.
This is hands down the most beautiful accommodation we've ever stayed in! The wooden house is newly built, super clean, and looks like a Pinterest dream. The beds are insanly comfy, we were looking forward to sleep every night. The views are breathtaking: you get a nice panorama, even higher than Little Adam’s Peak! Watch the sunset from the balcony and the sunrise from the other side. Breakfast is incredible, made with so much love and attention to detail. The best dhal we've had in Sri Lanka! Lakshan is the sweetest person ever, always helping with great tips for exploring the area. He and his family take such good care of the guests—it feels warm, familiar, and welcoming. He even organized a free tuk-tuk pickup from the train station and helped with our luggage up the last 100m of the steep rocky path. If you’re hesitating because there aren’t many reviews yet—don’t! It’s just because the place is new. 100000% recommend! We loved every second and would come back in a heartbeat.
