Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

This place was perfectly placed at half way for us between Anurahdupura and Negombo. Not the right time of year for the beach but was very relaxing by the pool. Pradeep was lovely and so helpful. He cooked us a lovely breakfast. A beautiful property.

GermanyThe beach villa was the best accommodation we had during our trip around Sri Lanka. The house is very comfortable, enough space for 6 people and great location at the beach. Pradeep and his wife were very welcoming and prepared breakfast, lunch and dinner for us. All very tasty and we enjoyed it a lot. We highly recommend the beach villa and would come back.

GermanyThe house was really beautiful and we loved everything. We just stayed for one night, but I would come back. There is a big kitchen and two big bedrooms with really comfortable beds and airconditioning. The pool is also very lovely and the beach is directly behind the house. They even clean the beach behind the house. It also has an own entrance and it's super quiet, you only hear the waves. Everything was super clean!

United StatesEverything was wonderful.
Very beautiful, clean, safe and peaceful paradise. Good A/C. Washer and kitchen facilities, very high quality of everything. The cleanest pool I saw on my trip. Staff was so professional and kind, and offered to help us in every way, even to go out and look for things at the store for me I needed before I left for the airport. Pradeep and his wife cooked a huge and delicious dinner for us, based on the food types we requested. Martinez showed us around the little town which was a quiet and friendly place. The beach was quiet too and full of beautiful shells and men fishing. We were greeted with water from a freshly cut coconut. We felt like queens here! Unfortunately we had to leave for the airport at 3am and the staff helped us make this happen easily and gave us a ride. We felt like queens here!

GermanyThere are no facilities at Nayan's place. Pradeep prepares the meals at his house and brings them to Nayan's Paradise. There is a restaurant close-by (Pub Sirak Beach Hosue, lunch and dinner) which has a seating area outside and is right next to the beach, but after dark we could hardly see our plates and the food was rather bland and basic (the usual suspects: mixed fried rice and mixed fried noodles). It is a nice place for drinks maybe but not really much of a restaurant. There is another little take-away for kottu and egg rotis, etc. just down the road (Lesli's). They do have a table and a couple of chairs, and we had our meal right there which was quite interesting because lots of villagers came by to order take-away so we had a chance to meet some of them. The area around Nayan's Paradise is cool if you want a break, no noise, tranqulity, etc. Do expect any activities or sightseeing. Bring a good book or two and maybe some basic provisions and do not expect much entertainment. Unfortunately, the beach is rather dirty, with lots of plastic being washed ashore all the time and the fishermen also not making an effort to collect their rubbish.
Beautiful room, beautiful garden, a nice little pool even. All quite clean. Pradeep, the caretaker, and his wife are very friendly and helpful, made us a delicious breakfast on both mornings. Martinez collected us from the train station with his tuktuk (chargable) and gave us a tour through our spacious bungalow and the garden. The kitchen is well-equipped, so you could prepare some simple meals. Tea, coffee, sugar, and milk, and drinking water were provided which was very generous. There is a direct access to the beach where you can take endless walks, watch the fishermen haul in their nets, sort, weigh, pack and sell their catch. Very interesting - especially after about 4 pm and until dark.

NetherlandsWe ended up here by accident because we had to make a stopover. However, we are very happy that this happened, because it was fantastic! we were taken care of by Pradeep and his wife. Super friendly people. The accommodation was beautiful, clean and the breakfast was delicious. If you are in the area; absolutely recommended! it is an undiscovered gem.

Simple, secluded and peaceful. Neither new nor flashy but it’s got everything you need to relax - and not many opportunities for any other activity close by. We particularly enjoyed the opportunity to do laundry and prepare simple meals. Pradeep was exceptionally great host and helped us with transport, cooked for us in the evening and let us checked out late. Couldn’t ask for more. More food/drinks around and we could have stayed for a week!

NetherlandsEverything was great, but one thing to note when booking the accommodation is that all of the pictures are of the villa and the bigger bungalow with the kitchen. There are 3 smaller bungalows which are much more basic. It’d be good if the listing could be more clear with pictures of the smaller bungalows as well so as to manage expectations. Can’t expect to be the only guests and always receive a free upgrade, I guess ;)
This place is a true little paradise! Martinez and his colleague looked after us very well, kindly upgrading us to a bigger bungalow with a kitchen as we were the only guests. The bungalow was perfectly clean and so were the pool and the rest of the grounds. The location is great with the property being right by the beach. We were even allowed to cut some coconuts out of the trees and enjoy fresh coconut water. They have a cook that can you provide you with meals, one evening we ordered a fish BBQ at the beach, which was fantastic! We can highly recommend Nayan’s Paradise!

United Arab EmiratesEverything was great, for swimming the currents may be a bit strong, but we enjoyed the beach walks.
This is a spacious modern villa with private pool and beach view. It is away from touristic towns, you can fully immerse in local village life and have an authentic experience. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Czech RepublicLocation: in the middle of nowhere (so distant that there is no PickMe or Uber), not even a possibility to walk to some minor interesting place. Bird sanctuary is 45 mins drive. As a result, you end up completely dependent on a caretaker, which may be a little bit annoying. Beach: polluted (there is only 1 clean part, straight in front of the villa), which makes walks along the beach very sad. Ocean: impossible to swim in due to dangerous waves. Restaurant & grocery: there is 1 restaurant 17 mins walk (average taste, not recommended), grocery store is 45 mins walk. CCTV cameras: there are functioning cameras around the house, including one directed at the private pool (!!!). When confronted, Nayan promised to have it covered - rather doublecheck.
The villa is amazing and very comfy. Great pool.

FranceThe photos and the description of the property on Booking are misleading. In the description it says that each bungalow has a pool with the view. In reality out of 5 bungalows that share the fenced palm garden near the beach, only one, the bungalow closest to the entrance gate, has a pool and the kitchen facilities and none of them have a view of the ocean (apart from the new bungalow that has not been finished when we were there that is closest to the beach and that might have a bit of a view). The photos shown on Booking.com are the photos of the only bungalow with the pool and the beach villa that is located about 200 m up the road, not the other 4 bungalows. We were given the opportunity to move to the beach villa for the 2 last nights of our stay for a better price. The villa was big and comfortable with the beach and ocean view and would be ideal for two couples or a family. There is a caretaker of the property, Martinez who showed us around the bungalow and the villa. He also sells trips and excursions in the area and that, we felt, distracted him slightly from the caretaking duties. The transport is difficult to find as the pick me app doesn't really work there. We shopped around for the transport and in the end managed to find one (not from the area) that was nearly half the price that had been quotted by the caretaker. The village is lovely, though and the villagers are genuinely friendly and welcoming and showed us the authentic slice of Sri Lanka we would not have experienced in a more touristy area. Breakfasts and dinners are tasty. They are prepared by Pradeep and his wife at their house and brought over to the bungalows and the villa. The pub Sira (about 7 min walk from the property) is the only lunch option in the village.
Its location is special and truly authentic, as it is on the fishing beach where you can observe the fishermen pulling the nets and sorting their catch. I even helped release a turtle back to the sea after it had been caught in the fishing net. That was magical. The bungalows are extremely well-equipped inside. Outside, however they lack the furniture and the covered outside space for the shade and the rainy weather.
