Once in a while, you find hidden gems that exceed expectations. Nil Ralla is such a place. Where do I start? The villa, which we had solely to ourselves, was exceptional. Comfortable, peaceful (even next to a busy road), and watching the sea from your private pool was very relaxing. Gayan and his crew of two made us feel welcome the minute we arrived. They made all our meals fresh by hand and to order. He even went out and bought us some beer and gin after a chat we had. Awesome service. The food was exceptional, and on our last night, we had a lovely candle lit fish dinner at the end of the garden by the sea. Nimali, who overseas the property, who was an excellent contact prior to our arrival, came to see us mid week to ask if all was okay. We discussed a couple of small options to make it even better, which he took on board and is acting upon. That in itself is rare and speaks volumes about all the staff just wanting you to be happy and have a good time. Spoke to one of the neighbours, who was very nice and a few others passing on the beach. Everyone is so friendly. Sri Lanka is a special place, and Nil Ralla is a perfect spot to enjoy all that the south of the island offers. I wholeheartedly recommend this villa. You will not be disappointed. We were very sad to leave. Whatever you do, take a bus ride to Galle Fort. Tickets are 25p each, and the ride is somewhat rapid in a pimped up bus. Awesome fun 👍

Our experience at this hotel was somewhat disappointing, mainly due to the price, which felt too high for what was offered. One of the biggest issues was the noise level. The hotel is located right next to a very busy road, and especially in the family room upstairs, the traffic noise was overwhelming. It seriously affected the comfort of our stay and made sleeping difficult. Several times during the night, we woke up to loud honking right outside the hotel. Another downside was the lack of a refrigerator in the room, which would have been very useful. Additionally, while there was hot water, it ran out quickly due to a small boiler, which was frustrating when the whole family needed to shower. The wifi was also very bad in the room. That being said, I must praise the hotel staff, who were friendly and helpful. The breakfast, despite offering only three choices, was the best we had during our stay in Sri Lanka and they have also kids options that our son loved. Also, for those who love wild beaches and want to experience ocean, this area is fantastic. Nearby, there is a great restaurant, Shanti Shanti, with a lovely beach where you can relax and enjoy good food. Overall, I don’t think this hotel meets the standards of a four-star accommodation. The price is simply too high for the quality provided, especially considering the constant noise from the street, which significantly affects the experience.

Street noise! Bad WiFi No fridge in the room No bar/option to buy drinks (go to Shanti Shanti!) Price too high for what you get.

Looking out over beach a perfect location to relax. Pleasant helpful staff and very large room. Breakfast on lawn was a pleasure. Whilst you can not swim from the beach directly by hotel due to rock reef there are sandy bays and pools very near by

Beautifully decorated and spacious rooms with all facilities needed. The food cooked by chef Dhammika was excellent! So delicious and every meal prepared with perfection. The staff looked after us very well and were so friendly. We want to say a special thanks to Gayan, Dhammika, Chalana, Sahas and Kaveesha for making our week at Nil Ralla perfect.

    Poor Wifi connection

We came to Nil Ralla on the 6 th of January for 3 days. It was the birthday of 2 members of our family . The staff met us very hospitable, gave welcome papaya drink and wet towel for hands. The view of the hotel is 10 out 10! Everything is so delightful and clean! The hotel manager - Gayan suggested us to prepare BBQ for us and it was really fantastic! Wonderful meat, seafood, rice and salad! He made cocktails for us as well ! In the evening they turn on the fire and the atmosphere became fantastic! Breakfast is good! They cook English breakfast and local breakfast. Serve fresh fruits every time! Give water as you ask and every time help! We came with 9 month daughter and they helped us to warm her food regularly. There is an option to invite yoga and massage to the hotel and we took our time and did it! Rooms are light and clean! There is a TV , air conditioner and electrical pot. They ask if the cleaning is needed. Even the shampoo and conditioner smell fantastic. Sleeping with the oceans waves sound is a real satisfaction! The windows vie is right on the ocean. If you want to visit paradise on earth, welcome! Our hearts are full of thanks and pleasure. Thank you team! Thank you Gayan! Thanks the owners. Sincerely , Rosikhins, Kazan.

Quiet private beach front, amazing view, shared with only a few other guests. Traveled a lot of places. Never had the experience in other places.

The property was nice but the service could’ve been better

There was no phone signal nor did the property have WiFi. We had to keep our phones outside in the garden and use hotspot to connect to the internet. From morning there were noises from banging and thudding due to construction. There were a lot of local men loitering about on the property including the beach in front so we did not feel safe. Food was extremely overpriced. There was a kettle in the room but no cups, sugar, tea or coffee provided which is very normal in local hotels. Any tea ordered was charged extra an over priced. Overall it was a fairly unpleasant experience.

Everything about The Nil Ralla Villa was exceptional. They really did a wonderful service for us and made us feel comfortable in each and every single second. They were always on time but never disturbed our privacy at any given time. Simply it was a great vacation for us.

There was nothing to dislike about our stay at Nil Ralla. They gave us a warm welcome and homely feeling though-out the time.

It is a small and cozy mini hotel. Brand new. Very clean rooms, bathroom and territory. There is a fantastic pool and sun beds. It is close to the ocean. But the most important is the staff. Very friendly and helpful, they will do everything to make you feel comfortable. Absolutely love this place and 100% we will come back.
