It's a bit down a narrow lane so cars can't reach and it is about 15min walk from the beach.

The entire family took great care of us. Very clean rooms with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Breakfast was delicious. I highly recommend renting a scooter to explore Nilaveli and surroundings.

Amazing. The hosts have tried really hard to make this property outstanding. The entrance was superb and the front garden very well maintained and perfect. We are a Family of 5, we had the family room and a double room. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The A/C was excellent and brand new. The bathrooms were basic but great condition and everything worked well. The whole place was clean and smart and you could tell the host has pride in the property. The owners were some of the most genuine and best people we met in Sri Lanka, a really lovely family who are reaching for quality and not quantity. They went out of their way to help us and nothing was a bother. The area was quiet and well located for the beach and the town. Local restaurants were close by. Look Out for the local bread TUK TUK everyday for great pastries. Shop just round the corner. You’ll not be disappointed if you visit. We will return one day for sure, Thankyou.

Great hosts. Was accompanied by fruit and tea every day. The room and bathroom was clean. Very relaxing listening to the birds in the morning. Can have a chill social vibe when everyone hangs out in the patio area. Also a delicious family restaurant with good people right next door! Highly recommend and will return if ever back in Nilaveli.

The house is very close to the beach and to the Pigeon Island tour. The room was perfect, clean and cool. The owner is super nice and helped me a lot with my Tuktuk. Also he welcomed me with a soft drink super fresh and super needed (it was very hot 😂).

There was nothing negative about my stay

What an amazing experience to stay at Nilaveli guest house! I have not experienced such amazing hospitality anywhere else. The whole family could not do enough to make sure my stay was comfortable. A couple of days in I was suffering from a migraine and they made me delicious fresh food they prepared specially for me, and even a head massage! They were so concerned about my welfare it was really like being at home with family. The room and bathroom were spacious and very clean. The price of the room was extremely reasonable and they organised me scooter hire at a very good price and also a delicious breakfast upon request. Over all it was a 10 out of 10 experience and I would recommend it to anyone. Thanks Nilaveli guest house! I will never forget my stay.

I had high expectations for this stay, as it was one of the most expensive of my trip, and as the reviews were glowing, but I cannot say I recognised anything of what was said. The bathroom was very dirty (the first time I turned the shower on ants poured out of the handle), there were water marks all over the walls and floors, and many of the fixtures were loose/falling off the walls from limescale. My towels and bed linens were stained, and I was offered a very small towel-like ‘sheet’ as a top cover. It wasn’t even single-bed sized, and barely provided any actual coverage, let alone comfort. I thought I’d have a ‘garden view’ (because my booking said so), but there isn’t a garden and I couldn’t see out of my windows. There’s limited/no hot water (which given the air con is challenging). Also, the location is very challenging. It’s incredibly local, which means finding shops/restaurants/the way to the beach is difficult, coupled with groups of aggressive local dogs who will bark and chase you, it isn’t a very relaxing environment. This is compounded by the (very) early morning call to prayer, which is loud, and woke me before 6am every day. The owner seems pleasant enough, but it was very difficult to find anyone if you needed help. This may suit some people, but with no reception area, and no real information, I found this to be odd and off-putting. In the end, I cut my stay short, which they gracefully allowed me to do without charge.

The room was large enough, the air con was good, and the bed was comfy. The breakfast is OK. The daughter of the owner is lovely, so helpful, and really tried to help.
