Goes without saying that animal sightings are by no means guaranteed, but after 14 hours of drives, we came away a bit disappointed. The reality of blocks 1 & 5 are that if the animals don't happen to be right next to the road, then you're unlikely to see much of them. One sighting of a leopard in a distant tree caused a 20 vehicle traffic jam.

Superb staff who couldn't do enough for us. Atmospheric outside, candle-lit dining with a very tasty food selection. Well equipped and comfortable 'tents'.

The only slightly negative thing is that it is quite expensive, but still you get a lot for what you pay.

First, Dhanu was great- his passion for wildlife is infectious and we learned a lot! The staff is very caring and sweet. In particular, the food was amazing and actually the best we had in sri lanka.

Amazing spot at the second entrance to Yala (not the main entrance). Hidden away in the jungle are some beautiful bungalos and without a doubt they have the best bed ive slept on in Sri Lanka. It is a very unique airbnb and I have never stayed in anything like it. The staff are very attentive and were helpful with all aspects of our stay. I couldnt find my powerpoint adaptor and the owner was able to source one for me to charge my phone. The meals are a mix between Sri Lankan food and Western food and the staff are very accomodating to any requirements. We did an evening safari on the day we arrived and then a morning safari the following day. My only advice is that you need more than one day to enjoy the location as we were on safari 2x we didnt get a chance to get into the pool which would have been cool to do in the jungle.

We had a wonderful 2 night stay in this lovely camp and were extremely well looked after by Manu and his capable team. The camp itself was very peaceful and the tented accommodation luxurious. The food was excellent and they catered for my vegan wife brilliantly. The safari drives were very well done and we saw two leopards and a host of other wildlife. A very successful and pleasant stay. Highly recommended.

Couldn’t always hear the guide on safari as he sat in the front with the driver.

The ‘tent’ had all the facilities we needed including a free mini bar, air con and bathroom with view of the stars. Staff contacted our drive so pick up and drop off were hassle free. The whole stay was well organised, and staff were amazing. Mealtimes were communal with other guests sat outside with lantern lights in the evening. The food was incredible, fresh, variety of dishes and plentiful. Pre dinner drinks and water/ snacks on safaris. There is a small pool which was welcome for cooling off. Each safari was an adventure, with an informative guide keen to give you a great experience and yes we saw a leopard.

We thought we had booked a tree house but it was in fact a small house on the ground with a tree in the decking. Our bed was not made after the morning safari and nor after the afternoon safari. We had no fresh water and were left with dirty tea cups from the morning. We were told they were too busy making a bridge to sort our bedroom. Breakfast was a small plate of fruit, and an egg with chicken sausage and cardboard white bread. For the price we paid which was considerable one would expect a much more significant breakfast. I did write to them directly after our stay to address these issues but alas they chose to ignore my two emails.

The staff are charming and the isolated situation is lovely. The candle lit suppers were fabulous. We did see a leopard, sloth bear, lots of elephants, a mongoose, and water buffalo which was great whilst on Safari. The small pool was very refreshing and lovely to sit around between Safari drives.

Myself and my partner visited here between the Christmas/New Years break. As per the notes online we had booked an ‘all inclusive’ package, it’s worth leaving a note to others who may visit in the future that if you are expecting to enjoy cocktails and alcoholic drinks they are only given out between 12-2pm and 7-9pm (and you have to ask for them they are not offered, nor a menu of choices available). Others things that went wrong/were not as we expected; despite having pictures online of small intimate tables for couples, the dining is in fact ‘family style’ and, as nice as the other guests who stayed at the same time were, as a teacher on holiday with her partner my idea of fun is not to sit with other people’s children while we are eating. Okay next point is the safari, I can only describe this as what I imagine it feels like to be going on an animal hunt. Reckless drivers, too many vehicles, and driving countless times up and down the same roads in the national park. Granted the weather had been awful with heavy rainfall during our time so the routes these vehicles could use were limited but it was very sad to see lack of order by authorities. I fully understand the economic situation in Sri Lanka and that tourist money is needed but there seriously needs to be some regulations but in place for the national parks, we were gobsmacked by how congested and chaotic this was. We expected this to be more like a ‘safari’ with wild animals, if you see them you see them, if you don’t you don’t. Also, the jeep had a rain cover that was broken and had to be held up about 50% of the 4 hours we were in the jeep by a couple sitting at the front who were on their honeymoon (it comes as no surprise that they checked out after one night) Next point is the camp manager. I don’t even have words for this guy. Condescending and patronising is probably a good place to start.

We stayed in the Water Buffalo room and it was pretty accurate reality vs the pictures. The bed was comfortable, only criticism for the room is the bathroom could do with a good bleach and scrub and some cobwebs around the lights need some attention.
