There’s no breakfast served at the hotel but there’s a small kitchen outside. It is quite well equipped but unfortunately some guests do not clean after themselves

Location is perfect, it’s just 5min walk from the Baby Surf spot, Main point is 7min walk from the hotel. Room was clean and air-conditioned. We really enjoyed the terrasse from which we could enjoy the garden. We also stayed extra two nights and the host arranged it with no issue.

Beautiful oasis close to the surf break and restaurants. The cabanas are comfortable, some with A/C. They are arranged around a spacious tropical garden with some communal areas. Really convenient for the shops and restaurants at the lively end of the beach, but away from the noise and traffic of the main road.

Our host was incredibly lovely and welcoming. The family has put a lot of effort and love to detail into the whole place. It’s a jungle oasis at a perfect location in a very short walking distance from the beach, and not on the main road with all the bars, so the music etc. weren’t too loud. That road is only a few minutes away though. However, you are in the middle of nature and you should be aware of sounds by wild animals :) we would recommend taking the room with AC in the high season, because for us it was quite challenging sometimes at night with 35 degrees and no wind outside.

I had booked for four weeks (I work remotely while travelling so prefer longer stays), but I wanted to change my booking and wasn't able to (either via Booking.com or in person on arrival). The lack of flexibility was a bit annoying, as I hadn't paid at that point, but to be fair the owner did upgrade me to an air-conditioned room for the duration of my stay. This made all the difference - the room without AC was far too hot for me. It was also a little annoying having to pay everything in cash - it would have been good to know this was the only option in advance.

These are pleasant bungalows and rooms set around a beautiful garden in a good location close to the beach and all the cafes, shops and restaurants of Arugam Bay.

A wonderful, quiet oasis, situated down a lane in the quiet part of town, yet only minutes from the beach and the main surf break. Rivinu Place is family owned and run, and the hosts are friendly and helpful. The cabana we stayed in was clean and comfortable, situated in the lovely tropical garden. I would absolutely recommend this accommodation and would stay here again, we loved it so much that we extended our stay from 1 week to 4

The location of the guesthouse is perfect, away from the busy main street and beach yet only a few hundred meters walk away. A very peaceful vibe, very friendly owners who helped us woth renting a scooter and also did our laundry. Would definitely recommend going there, and would love to go back myself!

I’m unsure if the shower was supposed to have hot water or not: it didn’t have hot water for 99% of the time, but then when having 2 separate showers in the mornings I had hot water for 2 30 second intervals and then back to cold. It would be great if the property offered consistently hot water for showers. We also used the laundry service offered and a number of white tops came back with orange stains on that we can hopefully get out elsewhere.

An amazing property that has been decorated wonderfully around the cabins so you are surrounded by nature- there is a pond with fish, along with lots of beautiful plants to walk through to get to your room. The cabin we had was great, a 2 floor home with a nice modern bathroom and a comfortable bed. Despite the actual cabin being basic in its build, it came with both air con and a fan which worked perfectly in the heat. WiFi worked well. The property has lots of nice touches: the water tap/hose outside your room so you can wash your feet to remove sand and also clean the floor area in front of your door, the kitchen being available to guests so you could keep drinks refrigerated and make food, along with the nice communal seating space outside that had plug sockets and cables so you could sit outside whilst charging your devices. The staff were amazing, always there to help you and clean your room upon request. We were also greeted with a bottle of coke each as we arrived which was very welcoming. This place is fairly new, but I’m sure it will receive many guests as it’s a hidden gem in Arugam Bay tucked away from the main road.

We really really enjoyed our time here, we had the double room with garden view which was a separate little house with a porch surrounded by the beautiful garden of the property. The location was perfect for the beach, main point and the city while still being in a calm neighborhood without noisy street or loud bars. The staff was super friendly, organized transport from Colombo, there was a clean and nice community kitchen and the room was equipped with everything you need (hangers, a wardrobe, a table, soap,…). Highly recommend!

The place is at a great location, super close to the main surf point and it has a wonderful yard that makes you feel like you are living in the jungle, such I loved . The family that owns it is super sweet and welcoming as well. Very good value for money.

They have a little kitchen, which is nice. But sometimes plates, cups or a waterboiler in the room could be useful.

Very comfortable bed with moskitonet. Nice, modern bathroom with a big shower. Balcony with table and chairs. The accomodation is in a quiet street, 10 min. walking distance to the point and 5 min. to the street with restaurants and cafés. Outside shower for cleaning yourself after surfing. Owners are very friendly!

We spent 5 nights at Rivinu Place and were blown away by the hospitality of him and his beautiful family. The room was immaculate and very comfortable, kept cool with a fan and with a lovely patio out the front for relaxing. He was always on hand to help us and provide us with advice on what to do. He was very flexible and accommodating with our check in time after we arrived very early in the morning after a night bus. We would have loved to stay longer but it was (unsurprisingly) booked out. Great value for the amazing service he provides. 10/10 would recommend.

Amazing location, walking distance to the main point and great cafes in a quiet neighbourhood. The property is well maintained, and each cabana feels private and clean. Tharanga and his family are fantastic hosts, very welcoming and with helpful recommendations for the area.

Serene Spot Close to the Surf Whether you're a surfer looking for easy beach access, or someone who simply wants to unwind in a peaceful setting, Rivinu Place is for you! My partner and I spent 3 weeks at Rivinu Place and loved every minute. The location is unbeatable – just a stone's throw away from the main surfing beach, and a 5 minute walk to the centre of town. But for me, what truly sets this place apart is how peaceful it is. The rooms are surrounded by a beautiful garden that's full of birds. The property is beautifully maintained by the family who runs the hotel. They are such warm, kind people, and the whole place feels very welcoming. Whether you're coming to Arugam Bay to surf, or just to unwind, this place is a great choice! Very highly recommended!
