We had a very nice experience in Royal Mount Ella. The apartment is cozy and has a really wonderful and immersive view on the forest. The breakfast was great, the dinner was also good and 100% home cooked. The hosts are very helpful and

Exceeded our expectations. The accommodation was clean, spacious and lovely, and the view from our balcony over the valley was breathtaking. Sampath and his team deserve a mention for making our stay so comfortable and helping with transport arrangements. Walking along the train tracks into town was another highlight - there are plenty of places to sample local produce along the way and you'll enjoy watching the monkeys.

This was our favourite stay of our entire trip, with the privacy of the room making it feel more like a hotel than a homestay. The view was absolutely incredible and we could watch the sunrise from bed. We enjoyed admiring the view from the peace and quiet of our balcony and as we ate the amazing, varied breakfast provided by the host each day. We walked to and from town a couple of times but also made use of the TukTuk service which was offered at a very reasonable price. We were given excellent advice on how to walk to Ella rock from the homestay, and also enjoyed walking to nine arch bridge and other attractions. The host helped us arrange an excellent last minute Safari in Yala, providing transport and putting us in touch with an excellent guide. This was a day trip leaving early from Ella in the morning.

nothing - we will be recommending this place to anyone we know visiting Ella.

What an amazing place! We had the best time here, the accomodation is absolutely beautiful and the team is so lovely! Samput was just the best host ever, always looking after us and helping out. The tuktuks are very handy to go down to the busy part, we loved staying further from the busy streets of Ella. The breakfasts were out of this world and different every day. I would highly recommend staying here!

Sampath is a super host, very friendly and always one step ahead! Our stay was very pleasant, the room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast is super good and you can have it on the terrace in front of your room while enjoying a super view of the landscape. Sampath also assist you with the tuk tuk rides. The location is perfect if you want to go up to Ella Rock.

Maybe the shower could be better but it’s not really a problem.

Lovely view, very nice room, and wonderful people who made us a delicious breakfast! It also has the most amazing full wall artwork in the bathroom - never seen anything like it!

    No complaints!

Fabulous position overlooking the railway line and verdant hillsides. Nice area. Good breakfast.

We are 2 older female friends and had booked the triple deluxe room for 2 nights anticipating having plenty of room for ourselves as well as our 2 large suitcases and our two cabin bags. There is no room whatsoever for luggage. Most disturbingly, when we arrived the owner lied to us about our room and told us that the bathroom had sewerage issues and was being repaired so for the first night he wanted us to sleep together in a room with just a double bed. My travelling companion refused. I asked to see the state of the bathroom in case it wasn’t too bad and we could live with it. Finally we learned he had lied and had given the triple to someone else even though id reserved the room well over a month in advance. We I insisted on having our booking honoured and finally got it. As to the lack of space for luggage the owner agreed that removing the single bed would enable the guests to have luggage in their room and he said he would reduce the beds but today I see on Booking.com the room is still being advertised as a triple.

Exceptional breakfast + service! Free pick up from station was such a pleasure. Also helped me with my transport to Ella. The owner is super kind and checks in to make sure you are doing ok which I loved! Although a little out of town, it makes super relaxing and away from the noise which is amazing! It is also close by to Ella rock if you are wanting to do that hike!

It is a little bit out of town, about 1 hour walk or 10 min tuk tuk ride which the property has so it is very easy to get there.

The host family manages the entire operations of the stay. They had accommodated our special meal requests and he dropped us in the station so that we could catch the train on time.

The stay is little away from the center town i guess

We like the room, spacious, clean, and the two queen-size beds were comfortable for us "asian build". The breakfast was one of the highlights, lots of local fruits and delicious hooper and rolled pancake filled with grated coconut & brown sugar. In the evening, we were greeted with fireflies, and in the morning, lots of birds chirped away happily while we watched the sunrise. It was nice being surrounded with nature. Occasionally, you watched the train snake through the track below us, close enough to take a shot but far enough not to disturb us. Most of all, the appointed tuk-tuk driver provides services that are reasonably priced.

The water pressure is far too low. So we had to ask for a bucket and a scoop and bathe in a traditional way. The prices listed for the different tour packages need to be more specific and adjusted. Such as, the ticket to the tea factory cost Rup 3000 per person, so we give a miss. The secret waterfall is not worth visiting, it should be replaced with another destination. While the stop at Ravana cave is not worth the climb even though the ticket cost just Rup 250 per person, i think.
