The location of the room is a little hard to find but you know from the booking. And they do their best to help you . They even returned us at night from Ella. Without charge!

Superb stay!! The family that has the room were super friendly and attentive from the first minute. Great view of the waterfall and the area around Ella. Nice , comfortable room , very clean and great breakfast! If we come back to Sri Lanka we'll come back!!

Namal and his family are super helpful! They brought the suitcases upstairs and the room was lovely! Super clean with air conditioning. Our room also had a swing and the scenery you have from the room is just amazing - you'll wake up with Ella Rock and the waterfalls in front of you! Superb breakfast with fruit, egg and different types of Sri Lankan food. Thank you Namal!!

We had a lovely stay at Secret View Homestay, tucked away in the hills just outside Ella town. It was a little tricky to find at first—our driver had to stay in touch with the hosts to locate the property—but once we arrived, we were blown away. Be prepared for a bit of a climb up to the apartment, but it’s absolutely worth it. The views are breath-taking, and we had our own private terrace with swings overlooking the hills. We could have sat there all night—it was that beautiful. We booked two double rooms, one of which also had a single bed, which was perfect for our group. The rooms were well-equipped with fridges, air conditioning, and en-suite bathrooms, making our stay very comfortable. The hosts were incredibly friendly, greeting us with welcome drinks (juice and tea) on arrival. Breakfast was included and featured a delicious fresh fruit platter, which we really enjoyed. Although the homestay isn’t far from Ella town, it’s too far to walk, so we had our driver drop us off and then took Tuk Tuks back, which were very cheap and only took a couple of minutes.

Shower was low pressure and didn’t get as hot as I’d like. Quite a few stairs, so be aware if less mobile.

It was a wonderful view - felt very peaceful. I could sit and stare at that view for hours. The host and his family were lovely, and took care of anything and everything - transport, activities, food if requested. Close to Ella central, walkable along the train line. Or host will drive you if you ask. I definitely recommend.

The view from this homestay is incredible, you can see Ella Rock, Little Adam’s peak and a waterfall. It was lovely to sit on the swing chair and look at the mountains. We had breakfast twice during our stay and it was lovely both times. The family are very friendly and hospitable, with a very sweet dog Ruby. It is about a 10 min walk into town along the train tracks, I would recommend staying out of Ella town as it is quite busy, this area is very peaceful. Only negative is that whilst the view is incredible, the bathroom was quite smelly and felt a bit unclean.

Perfect retreat in the mountains of Ella. Perfect stay if you want a peaceful relaxing stay, just outside of the centre. We got the deluxe room with balcony and the swing on the balcony was wonderful to highlight. Beds super comfy and staff were amazing, so helpful and kind.

Our stay at Secret View was perfection. Such an amazing balcony and view, we felt really spoiled! The room was also comfortable and had everything we needed. The hosts were also incredibly accommodating and friendly, making sure we had the best stay, and even gave us a packed lunch and water when we left. Very kind homestay and beautiful place.

Book this homestay! Wonderfully located just a 10 minute walk (or 5 min tuk) from Ella town, the homestay is in an amazing location and extremely peaceful. The room had everything you’d need, from a mini bar (at great prices) to TV, but what really made it was the private balcony with swing to watch the nature and the sunset. The hosts were very kind and put on a great breakfast spread each day for us, as well as helping us with tips during our stay and organising onward transport for us. The rooms don’t have AC but come with a fan and the mountain clime (in Feb) meant a fan worked well. As the homestay advertises, there are quite a few steps to the property but it is so worth it and the hosts were very helpful with our luggage so this wasn’t an issue. We hope to be back again!

Lovely hosts who were very welcoming and hospitable. They helped us out with recommendations for what to do in Ella and also gave us a ride to town on our last day. They have a home with incredible view and it was so nice to be able to enjoy tea and breakfast on the verandah. The room was perfect for us and we’d definitely recommend it.

A big THANK YOU to our wonderful host and her lovely family for our stay in Ella. Everything was perfect and we felt very welcomed. We had a comfortable bed, an incredible view with a super cozy patio just in front of our room and the location is in a quiet and peaceful area. We already hope to come back some day soon!
