Great location in Galle Fort. And the management was friendly and generally responsive.

BE AWARE: You can't leave the hotel in the morning without being let out by the management. This information is not in the hotel description on Booking.com, nor was I told this at check-in. And there's no sign in the hotel letting guests know the procedure. My first morning in Galle, I wanted to go out and walk the streets before they got crowded. I soon realized I was locked in the hotel. There was no way out, nor any information posted for contacting management. Around 7:30 AM the manager arrived and unlocked the downstairs, explaining that I needed to let him know in advance if I wanted to go out early. This information needs to be given guests upfront! It's absolutely irresponsible to lock people in a building and not tell them in advance. What if there were an emergency? Additionally, my room was very small, had no nightstand, shelves, wardrobe, or dresser, so it was impossible to unpack. I had to live out of my suitcase for the four days I stayed at the hotel.

Location value quiet

Lovely room. In the heart of the historic city close to restaurants and shops etc. Very peaceful as it was down a quiet alley.

Communication with the family who run the guest house was difficult as most of the time there were no adults there that could speak adequately English.

The location vas perfect just in the Fort area. The room was ok but not more. Small and dark, no window. The staff was very nice and helpful.

Very comfortable and friendly place to stay, right in the middle of Galle Fort. My room was spotless and the breakfast was very good. The hosts were very nice and helped with anything you needed. An easy going and relaxed atmosphere.

Great location and the staff are fabulous. The hotel is dated and has loads of character. It is not luxury but comfortable and good value for money.

Good location inside the fort

Our air conditioning wasn’t working, at first the staff denied there was anything wrong with it however later finally agreed to let us switch rooms

I am a seasoned traveller so its basic nature did not put me off. I have no interaction with the staff nor did I eat there. It was perfectly OK, just very basic. I would happily recommend to the backpacking community. The place had a nice vibe and you could go onto the roof to get views. Brilliant location but pricey, on account of being in Galle.

No hanging or storage space

The room was good, in a old fort building, nice and clean. For the bathroom you have to leave the room, but its just next door and private (no one else is using it).

High price for the value + breakfast is not included. I felt tolerated, but not welcome. There was some friendlier staff as well. We tried to extend one night since we fell ill. We never got an answer because the owner wanted to see if any "better booking" would come in. Because we felt kind of stable in the morning and not welcome, we left anyway.

Fantastic central location with Galle Fort

Great Central location, smack bang in the centre of Historic Gallle.

Great location, nothing special but quite alright

Loved the location - in the interesting humdrum of Galle - plenty of interest to access easily; lovely accomodation - cumfy beds, clean showers & fabulous ambience.

Staff were really nice. Room was clean. Location was very good.

I thought shower system was pretty bad. I didnt like that after 11 in the evening you have to call number to get in or out. I think you should be allowed to go as you wish.

Very friendly and helpful staff. They helped us with getting taxi’s and made sure we had a good night of sleep. The location is great, it’s located right in the centre of Galle Fort

Water in the shower could be a bit warmer

I had a wonderful time at Shoba's. The ambience of the place is so nice and the staff are lovely. The location is fabulous, right in the heart of the historical fort area and so close to everything this delightful town has to offer. Great value at the price. I would definitely stay here again.

Nothing

The boutique experience of a comfortable homestay with friendly hosts. Lush green plants inside the open cottage type setting makes it peaceful and soothing to the eyes. Loved the Harare boutique’s hottie reception where one can get trinkets for back home. The chef at home also can cook for you staple Sri Lankan dishes at your request.

Mirrors inside the room would be helpful. We had to go back and forth to washroom while getting ready. Also the ceiling fan is not working properly at different speed level. Though the room has AC some like me don’t prefer it.
