Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsNice place away from the normal roads. I would recommend having your own tuktuk to get here like we had. Nice bonus is the AC in the double bed room, but not in the family room, for 2dollars a night. The host made us nice breakfasts also available after climbing the Pidurangala Rock and if you want she can also make you a huge dinner with a variety of curry's.

Czech RepublicA bit far away from the road. You need to take a tuktuk or taxi if you are going early morning or late in the evening because there could be wild elephants. Only one lady speaks English.
Very friendly owner, delicious food (breakfast, also there is an opportunity to order dinner). Homestay surrounded by nature.

I loved how remote it felt. In the middle of the jungle, it was just what I wanted but also so easy to get to the center specially if you rent a bike. The host was so nice and genuine.

United KingdomThe property is a little out of the way, we had no problem getting tuktuks whilst we where there and you could also hire a bike. The drivers are wary of the elephants but picked us up early morning (5am) and the latest we where dropped was 9pm.
The room here was basic but so clean, the shower and bathroom were clean and working, aircon and fan good, Places to hang clothes and a lovely little patio! At night we saw firefly’s and sometimes elephants come! It is set in a beautiful garden and lovely jungle sounds at night 🥰. Also as everybody said the family are really beautiful and kind, Our food and breakfast was so so delicious, all fresh with veg and fruit in the garden. They welcome you in like a family member and we will really miss being around them, especially Lila who couldn’t do enough of us.

IndiaIf you like off beat places and spending a night close to nature this is the best option. With forest all around and plantations done by the host family in the area there is a lot of greenery. Host is a lovely person and will take care of your needs. She arranged Srilankan delicacies for breakfast, bread toast and lots of fruits. Bus stop is at a walkable distance and tuktuk's are available from there. We spotted monitor lizard nearby and the whole place was calm and serene especially when it was raining.

Czech RepublicThe location is ok during the day. But during the night (for example for night safari) it is harder to get a tuktuk. You can’t go by yourself because on the last 300 m to the hause might be elephants Some tuk tuk drivers won’t come because they are scared of elephants as well. The owners does not speak english at all. We had to ask about the time of the breakfast by ourselves.
The location is very quiet. You can spot various small animals. The only breakfast we had was a real Srilankan food and it was very interesting to taste it. :) The owners even open a jack fruit for us.

Germany"Unforgettable Stay at Sigiriya Nature View Homestay" From the moment you arrive at Sigiriya Nature View Homestay, you know you're in for a special experience. Lila and her family set the bar for hospitality, making you feel not just welcomed but truly part of their family. One of the most remarkable aspects of the stay is the culinary journey Lila provides. Her homemade meals are a culinary masterpiece, giving guests a genuine taste of Sri Lankan flavors that you simply won't find in restaurants. Each dish reflects her passion for cooking and her desire to share her culture. The accommodation itself is superb. The room is spacious, impeccably clean, and extremely comfortable, with large bathroom. The front door opens to a lovely space where plants and ponds create a tranquil area perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. Speaking of location, the homestay is conveniently situated within walking distance of local restaurants and markets, but renting a bike or scooter is advisable. It’s the best way to explore the stunning natural and archaeological sites nearby, all easily accessible from the homestay. Overall, staying at Sigiriya Nature View Homestay is not just about finding a place to sleep, but about immersing yourself in the warmth of Sri Lankan hospitality and enjoying a familial atmosphere that Lila and her family expertly create. Saying that I highly recommend this homestay doesn’t quite seem to capture the exceptional experience they offer; it truly is a must-visit for anyone traveling to Sigiriya.

United KingdomExtremely beautiful place, sweetest family, outskirts of the village, in the jungle as sigiriya experience should be. The room is very nice, cute and clean. Bed is very comfortable and has mosquito net. The bathroom is superb, large and has hot water. You have a small extremely cute balcony. You feel the whole house is done with love. The whole family is extremely sweet. You really feel taken care of. They make very nice local breakfast in the morning, check on you if you have any needs, they are all very kind and smiley. You really feel that you are living with a very sweet local family. At the same time you have %100 your personal space. The house is in the jungle, is a nice 10 mins walk from main road. It's on the outskirts but there are other village houses on the way closeby, you feel completely safe walking back and forth. You can see, hear animals, and have cute small visitors. As Sigiriya is a wild elephant area, it is generally not recommended to walk around before-after sunset. With scooter or tuktuk it is fine. I had two days walking, one day scooter and it was very nice. You can also get a tuktuk from main road to house for reasonable price after sunset. At an amazing jungle area like this, you don't wanna stay in busy main road. This house gives you a wonderful serene jungle experience. I will for sure again stay here when i am back in sigiriya.
