Amazing views of Sigiriya Rock and quiet location but still central. Large room, great balcony and comfy bed. The family running the property can help with everything and are very knowledgeable about the area - what to do, when to go, etc. Also a great breakfast on a lovely covered terrace.

All rooms should at least have 1 bottle of drinking water available complimentary. We had to pay for water upon our arrival, we arrived very late and had no other option.

Very good location and supporting staff

Nothing… wish we could have stayed for longer.

What an amazing find! Milton and the team were so hospitable. The location was excellent, close to good restaurants, bars and landmarks. I would recommend you take a tuk tuk ride with Milton, who was very passionate about the local area. The view and farmland was spectacular, feeling safe at all times. Lastly the breakfast was huge and delicious. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Convenient location - close to Sigiriya Rock and Pidurangala Rock (you can see both from the terrace). Owner was very kind and gave us good tips where to eat or what to do. Also arranged safari for us for a good price.

No wifi at the property. The dinner was closed by 7:30pm when we checked-in and they took cash only as payment. I had to walk to the ATM for about 5 mins in the sun, especially after our trek up the Lion Rock that morning.

The location. The paddy fields and the view is great but only for a couple of rooms and not all. Big property with lots of restaurants and an ATM nearby.

    Nothing

The view is incredible, you sleep right next to rice fields with the lion’s rock at the end, the garden is beautiful and has an interesting wildlife in itself (we saw peacocks, squirrels, fireflies…). The host was also exceptional, they provided tuk tuk transport, great advice, and laundry service. I would recommend it to anyone!

Although they were kind, the only negative place that we would like to note is the uncertinty regarding prices. Our personal experience: 1) we ordered friend rice with vegetables and egg for lunch and the next day they wanted to charge us x4 what it costs in a normal place (the person also seeemed not to be aware of the price for each item, just saying random numbers) 2) the first tuktuk ride to Sigiriya was clearly offered free of charge, but we had to ask about the price for the one to Pidurangala to actually know it was going to be charged, which seemed sketchy (and a bit expensive). To sum up: perfect place to spend a night and climb these rocks, just be aware of the potential scams and ask for the prices first.

Super clean and fresh room, perfect for a recomforting sleep. The views are incredibly beautiful and the personnel is kind.

The bathroom was a little damp and needs a bit of work but the shower was always warm and still would return at the price it is at!

We had the most amazing stay here! The owners could not do enough for us and drove us everywhere in the tuktuk! When he took us to Dambulla Cave we even took a detour to a herbal and spice garden which was super interesting. We saw over 30 elephants on a tour booked by the owner of the hotel! He organised everything for us! The setting of the hotel is incredible. We saw monkeys, eagles, peakcocks, frogs and more and also had the most amazing view of Lion’s Rock. The breakfast was plentiful too. We were looked after so well and would return!

As protected as mosquito nets look, they feel scary at night (and it’s a pain getting out for bathroom). Ceiling fans are much better, then nets aren’t needed.

Really lovely room looking out at a beautiful garden, with an awesome out to Pidurangala & Lion’s Rock in the distance. Very close for the trips and walking to restaurants.

The host is great but if you’re not very focused you might end up doing his preferred trips (and visiting where he gets commission) in his tuk tuk rather than what you really want to do! Such as a day trip to Polonnaruwa (1.5 hours each way, $30 entry). Immediately on entry you are set upon by hawkers. The ruins I found quite boring and the site boring. Eventually I asked if we could see the good stuff now but we already had! For scenery the lakeside road to dambulla (where I wanted to go) is better. And dambulla cave temples are vastly better. My room had no loo paper and only 1 working mains socket. The super early sunrise climb of Pidurangala Rock is only worth booking if the forecast is good. I did it and just saw clouds from the inside, dogs and monkeys. Note this climb has a couple of slightly exposed steps so: expect to be held up in a stationary queue, take good shoes, be careful if it’s wet.

The location, the hosts, the views, the dining room. Important: if you arrive in good weather then climb Lion’s rock. I did a local tour instead with the host and the other 3 days of my stay were very wet and cloudy - big mistake! The cave temples at Dambulla are a must see and the nearby tacky golden temple hilarious. Ride there the scenic way by the giant lake. Pradeep Restaurant in the village was my favourite in 3 weeks around Sri Lanka. Their veg curry and rice is probably the best value meal I’ve ever had and very good. Sigiriya was one of my favourite places in Sri Lanka - the others (eg. Kandy, Ella, Colombo, most coastal resorts) are spoiled by traffic, pollution, overdevelopment and hideous blaring moronic bass music (yes I’m getting on a bit!). Very comfortable room and bed and excellent mosquito net.
