Central location, nice hosts, comfortable room, sufficient breakfast

Everything was perfect. The family was amazingly hospitable. Way above and beyond our expectations. The room was spotlessly clean. Super comfortable beds, the place was just awesome! We were leaving at 6am, the hostess made sure we had a cup of coffee before we left. Cannot find fault with anything. I would highly recommend Silver rail to everyone. Thank you family for your kindness 🙏

Very nice people! Room clean and big. Room is 5 minutes tuktuk to the main turistic streets.

The hosting family was truly amazing and helpful! The dinner and the breakfast provided both were exceptionally good! It was a pleasure to stay with the family, would definitely come back!

The room was spacious and well decorated with some flowers and other decorations so you got feeling that you are at home :) Family who runs the business is super friendly and helpful. We ordered breakfast and we couldn’t believe how much food they had prepared. And whats better I had THE BEST hoppers and coconut pancakes during our 3 weeks travel in Sri Lanka. So definitely recommend to have dinner or breakfast made by family I bet you won’t be disappointed.

The only thing about which may be disadvantage of this property is the closure of railway. We knew about it, and we read reviews before booking but we didn’t expect it to be so loud. For us it was okay :)

Great big room, very clean suitable for a family

The trains are so loud and ran throughout the night, beeping their horns, woke us ub several times.

We had a really wonderful stay at Silver Rail. The room was very big and very comfortable. The family who runs it was so welcoming, they offered us tea and a delicious breakfast. They even showed us how to make the pancakes we loved so that we can try to make them at home later 😋The location was good, we could walk to the Fort everyday. Thank you so much for your hospitality! :)

The location is wonderfully convenient, close to the Galle railway station (making it easy to come and go). It’s a pleasant 20-minute walk to the Fort area, which we enjoyed, especially after a hearty meal. The room is spacious and impeccably clean, with the entire top floor to ourselves. The balcony offers a breezy view of the railway tracks lined with palm trees, adding a nice touch of local charm. We slept so well in the comfortable beds with fresh sheets, and enjoyed the occasional sound of passing trains - a beautiful part of the Sri Lankan experience. The host family was incredibly kind and helpful. Their small kiosk on the ground floor was a handy addition! We also had our laundry done during our stay which is a life saver… Thank you Silver Rail for the truly relaxing experience!

Everything was perfect!

Location was great and the room we stayed in was very spacious and clean. Hot water was available and a/c working perfectly. The hosts were very kind and helpful, they also have a store right beneath the rooms so very convenient.

I had an awesome stay at Silver Rail! The family who runs the place is very kind and thoughtful. The room is spacious and very clean and the location is only about 20min walk to Galle Fort which was perfect! It’s also cool that it’s so close to the Railway - it’s not disturbing because the trains don’t run during the night. Would definitely recommend to stay at Silver Rail.

I liked everything!

The room was spacious and incredibly clean, the hosts greeted us when we arrived asking if we would like tea and biscuits brought up to our room and is within a 20 min walk of the Galle Fortress as well as the bus/train station.

A perfect stay in Galle! Silver Rail is a superb home stay - huge room, very clean and with a gorgeous big balcony overlooking lots of greenery! Our host family were so kind and attentive, even providing tea and hoppers for breakfast in the morning! We only stayed one night but had a lovely time here and it was incredible value for money. Would definitely recommend for a stay in Galle!

Bring earplugs for the trains that go past very close

Our stay was great. The family running it is wonderful! They invited us to be part of their Sinhalese New Year celebrations. Their daughter are so sweet. Their breakfast is delicious!

The communication from Silver Rail was excellent and when we arrived we knew we had made a good choice. The hosts are so warm, friendly and kind and we immediately decided to stay an additional night. The room was exceptional and the bed is so comfortable with new sheets and pillows. The ceiling and ground fans helped to keep the room at a nice temperature but it was also so pleasant to sit out on the balcony and watch the world go by. The shower has a heater so hot or cold water is available and the bathroom is a very good size. Plenty of plug sockets around to charge your electronics and a lovely side light by the bed is a nice touch. Silver Rail is adjacent to the Train line but we found it fascinating to watch people commuting up and down the line. We had a very good sleep for both our nights. There were chairs, a table and some stools and we were offered a pot of tea which was very welcoming. All in all this is a wonderful accommodation hosted by some truly lovely people. We are so glad we stayed here and were made to feel at home straight away. Thank you and we hope to stay again if we ever return to Galle. We wish you only kindness for your future plans and success

Clean and big room. Very kind and smily family. We recommend you have a breakfast - eating traditional srilankas breakfast with view to train and running chipmunks on the trees. Lovely place, thank you

Large room just 15 minutes walk from the Galle old town. Really friendly host who made us tea and cake in the morning. Host family also own a shop under hotel so convenient for essentials whenever you need.
