Reviews of Tony's Garden House Back Packers inn

This was the perfect place for our 2 nights in Jaffna, wonderful host and very easy scooter renting and laundry service.

Loved the place and Tony is a fantastic host that cares about guests having the best of their time while in Jaffna. Location was perfect, 50mts from the bus stop, in a quite area in front of a gorgeous park and a very short walk or bike ride from restaurants and the city centre and fort. Tony and his partner were super helpful with any matter or question I had. They helped me arrange a bicycle to go around town, a tuktuk tour of the northern side of the peninsula, and find good dining spots. Breakfast was good, based on local foods - they even made it take away on my last day as I had an early bus. I had a private bathroom, which was perfectly clean and the shower was great. Although my room was in the ground floor, I never had any issues with noise coming from common areas.

Linen could have been a bit better, but nothing tragical. Room got a bit stuffy sometimes - normal in the Sri Lankan weather and with mosquito nets on the windows - but the fan was very strong and helped.

Fantastic stay, nice and central to everything. Tony is super helpful and a very good host. Will definitely stay again and I highly recommend it.

Lovely place. Clean, comfortable and the highlight was Tony himself. He was really welcoming, helpful, well informed and interesting to talk to about the region. We did laundry, rented bikes, tried breakfast food (puttu) we had not found anywhere else, and we enjoyed it so much we decided to stay longer.

The location is good, right next to a park, but our room faced onto the road and it was a bit loud 🔊 so if you are bothered by street noise (I am not) maybe ask for a room away from the street.

Location is great, Tony is super kind and helpful, and Sophie is the best!!! The room was comfortable and had everything you would need including shelves, plug adapter etc

Tony helped in any possible way: information regardin transport, arranging tuk tuks, local tips,... always with a warm smile. The place was clean, functional, located close to the centre and the room had everything: it was espacious, desk with chair, AC, fan, mosquito nets,...

Tony was the kindest and most available host. Always happy to answer the many questions we had, with the best suggestions and recommendations! Definitely recommended

Tony and his establishment were great. He sent clear communication before we arrived to help us get to his inn. We rented a scooter through him. The inn and rooms are very clean. There are a lot of common areas where you can relax. Our favorite was the balcony, which overlooks the park and trees with hundreds of fruit bats that take flight at dusk. We enjoyed every minute of our stay here.

Room was exceptionally clean and very comfortable, the AC was almost too good! The location was great for exploring Jaffna city centre, and we hired scooters from Tony one day to tour the islands nearby. The scooters were in great shape and the price was good as well. Tony was an amazing help throughout, recommending things to do, see and eat. He helped us book the AC bus to Negombo on our final day.

Excellent place to stay in Jaffna. Room was very clean and comfortable. Tony is an excellent host, very helpful. Breakfasts were delicious too.

It was perfect! Tony is so helpful and kind, the breakfast is amazing, the beds are comfortable and it was super clean. There’s nothing to complain about!

What a steal! Amazing place to stay for backpackers - great amenities, but Tony really makes this place special. Very friendly and just a nice guy, he can help you with everything from renting bikes to train schedules, and cooks a killer breakfast. Would highly recommend!

Good location and nice and clean stay. Tony is very kind and arranges a day tour with Siva, which was just perfect. Loved everything about it. Strong WiFi, clean room with AirCon and the best spot to observe big bats in evening from the terrace.

Tony’s is a must stay if you visit Jaffna, Tony is such a kind host, and helped everyone plan things to do in Jaffna, as well as visiting Tommy’s village stay in Delft Island. There are private rooms that are very affordable with air conditioning. Tony also does the laundry on site very fast and affordable.

Tony is such a friendly and helpful host. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Jaffna simply because he was so great at helping with any problems, gave great recommendations and was very welcoming.

Tony's place is a must stay for Jaffna. Located an easy 25min walk from the centre of town, it also has all the essentials nearby (shops, restaurants etc). Very clean and everything you could need. I stayed twice and Tony is very helpful with directions and recommendations plus is always up for a chat. There's lots to explore in Jaffna, but it is also nice to have a restful place to come back to and recharge. Thanks Tony!!
