The staff we excellent, the rooms we spacious and spotless, the common areas were truly blissful and relaxing. I would highly recommend.

The lunch menu could have been a little more expansive. Also we would have appreciated being notified that we have to give dinner orders early ahead of time, but the staff were helpful and kind and that made up for any minor shortcomings.

    Property response:

Dear Niro, Thank you so much for your lovely review! We’re thrilled to hear you felt relaxed and well taken care of — that’s exactly the experience we want for every guest. Regarding dinner, we completely understand your feedback. During the quieter South Coast season (June to October), we ask for dinner pre-orders so we can cook everything fresh and help avoid food waste — especially when using ingredients like fresh fish and chicken. From November onwards, our kitchen will be open all day, and you won’t need to pre-order dinner. And we have good news — an updated lunch menu will be ready in just two weeks, and we can’t wait for guests to enjoy it! It was a real pleasure having you with us, and we hope to welcome you back soon for another blissful and relaxing stay.

Absolutely loved my stay — the nature-connected experience was unforgettable. Everything was perfect, especially the open-air bathrooms that made me feel fully immersed in the surroundings. Can’t wait to come back!”

It would be great if they could block the gaps under the doors to keep insects out, and maybe add a kettle with some tea bags. Other than that, a wonderful stay!

    Property response:

We’re so happy to hear your stay was a truly nature-connected experience! The open-air bathrooms are one of our favorite features too, and it’s wonderful to know you felt fully immersed in the surroundings. Here on Sri Lanka’s South Coast, our jungle neighbors include a few curious insects — especially ants! We do our best to keep them out and advise guests to close doors and avoid leaving food uncovered, but these little adventurers can be sometimes hard to stop. For tea lovers, we’re always happy to provide complimentary tea and hot water from the restaurant — just ask anytime. We loved having you here and can’t wait to welcome you back to our little slice of nature.

I don’t usually write reviews, but SOLA in Ahangama deserves all the love. I stayed here for a few days and honestly? I didn’t want to leave. It’s one of those spots that makes you slow down in the best possible way — super laid-back, incredibly beautiful, and just good vibes all around. The Vibe The second you walk in, it’s like the noise of the world shuts off. Palm trees, ocean breeze, mellow music playing somewhere in the background… it’s got that calm but cool energy — like a hidden surf lodge that also happens to be aesthetic as hell. Everyone’s barefoot, smiling, drinking coconuts, reading, stretching, laughing. You know those places where people are just happy? Yeah. That. The Rooms Minimal but super cozy. Earth tones, big comfy bed, open-air shower, lots of light. The design is simple but feels thought through — not sterile or hotel-y. You feel like you’re staying at a really well-designed beach house more than a hotel. No clutter. Just space to breathe. The Food Breakfast here is so good. I legit still think about the smoothie bowl and that homemade granola (seriously, what was in that??). Everything feels healthy without trying too hard — fresh fruit, good coffee, all that. You eat and just feel good after. Surf & Chill The beach is super close — like a 5-minute walk — and there’s surf for all levels. Some days I surfed, some days I just chilled under a palm tree and did nothing (zero regrets). They can hook you up with boards, lessons, or just tips if you’re into it. The People Honestly what made the place special was the people. Staff is amazing — super friendly but never in your face. And the other guests? Cool humans. I ended up having great convos over breakfast and even a sunset drink or two with people I’d just met. No forced “resort activities” — just easy, natural connection.

Staying here felt like stepping into a hidden sanctuary - right on the edge of the city, yet completely immersed in nature. The contrast was magical. One moment you're in the vibrant heart of the city, and the next you're surrounded by birdsong and trees, in your own little pocket of peace. What stood out most to me was the open bathroom. Taking a shower while feeling the fresh air on your skin and gazing out into the greenery... it was something I didn’t know I needed. Everything here felt curated, but never overdone. The atmosphere was so relaxed, so quietly luxurious, with a kind of privacy that’s hard to find these days. It’s a place where you can truly be, breathe, unwind, and feel. Already planning my next visit!

We spent unforgettable days at Hotel SOLA with our family, and it truly felt like a little paradise. Nestled in the lush gjungle, the hotel offered a unique jungle atmosphere that we absolutely loved. The natural surroundings were full of life—monkeys, peacocks and plenty of different birds. It was peaceful, immersive, and deeply relaxing. The rooms are spacious, and beautifully designed with nature in mind. We especially appreciated the private balconies that looked out over the gardens. Our kids had the time of their lives! Between splashing around in the large pool, exploring the wide-open estate, and learning about all the local fruit trees, they were constantly engaged and excited. They even got to enjoy fresh coconuts picked straight from the trees, which was a total highlight. The food was awesome and a great combination of Sri Lankan and continental cuisine. The staff were warm, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. Their genuine hospitality made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. Overall, Hotel SOLA exceeded all of our expectations. It’s a perfect destination for families looking to relax, reconnect with nature, and create lasting memories.
