Hi, We r couples from India. We r on vacation in Sri Lanka. Homestay Owner Dileep is a very nice and helpful person .He is expanding his homestay business and constructing new rooms. The stay was comfortable and cool. It is value for money. Room was ok with a balcony having a jungle view. The room had a refrigerator, TV, a fan and a cosy bed. Bathroom having hot water. I gave a few suggestions to Dileep to improve a few basic things . Ventilators in bedrooms and bathrooms to be covered with mesh to avoid mosquitoes . Also breakfast was nice and delicious. Homestay is 3.5 km from city center and Kandy station on height. Thanks

Best place to stay in Ella. Let me explain why. You have the best host Dileep. He picks you up from the bus stop free of cost, greets you with smile, arrange scooters with great rates and cherry on the top serves you amazing breakfast. Rooms are so huge with great balcony where you can easily spot lot of birds and monkeys. Not only this as and when you arrive, Dileep explains the entire map of Ella and send all the places to visit along with links. So handy and useful. He even suggested a spa and we had the best massages. Only because of him, we extended our stay from 2 to 3 days. You have Cafe Freedom (run by local family) just next to the stay and they serve great food. It's just 10 mins drive to the main ella market so away from all hustle bustle. He dropped us early morning to the railway station and on top of that gave us packed breakfast which can enjoy during our train ride. Best host everrrrrr. Highly recommend stating at Solitary resort when in Ella. Thanks Dileep and you are welcome to come stay with us in India!;

Fantastic host! I cannot say enough about how wonderful the host was. I suddenly fell ill and he helped me with food, water, medical needs, transportation- everything! Beautifully kept, spacious, clean, comfortable. The best I have experienced in Sri Lanka. Included things like fridge, kettle, hair dryer and a hand towel which is the first I’ve encountered in Sri Lanka. Breakfast was delicious and over the top! Thank you so much for everything 🙏😊

I can’t rate this accommodation highly enough! If you’re coming to Ella, this is an amazing place to stay. The host, Dileepa, was incredibly kind and helpful- he picked us up from the train station free of charge, did our laundry (only charging for water, not making a profit), arranged a scooter rental, and even helped organise our transport to the next destination. He truly went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and stress-free. The breakfast each morning was delicious as well. Highly recommend!

It’s quite far from Ella city center (about 25 mins walk or 8 mins by tuktuk), but in return you get an amazing view and you are surrounded by nature

Dileepa is the most friendly person we met in Sri Lanka (and we met a lot of friendly people). We really loved this place and wished we could have stayed longer! The rooms are big and the terrace is also very nice with an amazing view

Just to mention, the walk-in shower floor was extremely slippery, so I would suggest a rubber bathroom mat be placed under the shower to prevent anyone slipping!!

This homestay has super spacious, modern rooms, with a fan, small fridge and tea/ coffee making station in the room. It had a mosquito net over the bed. Lovely soft, white linen, with comfortable pillows and double bed. There were lovely bedside lamps, a modern bathroom with a hair dryer, and a lovely open veranda to sit on overlooking the forest area. I was warmly welcomed upon my arrival. The descent to the homestay must be walked down and up again, and it is rather steep. I highly recommend this happy homestay.

Really, there is nothing to complain about!

The place is absolutely amazing! The host is amazing, such a kind man!! When I went to the city the first time, he took me to the center and told me the fair price of the tuktuk, so I don’t get scammed. He also told me that if they tried to scam me, I should call him to pick me up. Host was always available and kind, extremely respectful, hospitable, and professional, making the place perfect for solo female travellers. Amazingly clean, it was the first accommodation where I didn’t use flip flops, because it was immaculate. The mosquito net is great addition! Also, the room is huge! The terrace is beautiful. Breakfast is typical Sri Lankan and is served on the terrace, which has a nice mountain view! Photos are very accurate. I would say the place is even better in reality! It’s really been a long time since I was this impressed with a place and the host:)

The towels could be a bit larger. You also have to be prepared for a steep descent from the road to the location. We liked that, because it was charming and necessary to reach the priceless quiet location. I guess that goes for many of these jungle-type accommodations in Ella.

The lazy chairs on the terrace (with magnificent jungle view, monkeys garantueed). The very nice owner. The close proximity to town (half an hour walk, 500-800 rupi by tuktuk) in combination with the relaxing quietness of this location. Price-value is unbelievable.

Lovely friendly host and family, happy to look after your every need. Intriguing location amongst the bush on a steep hillside looking out towards Ella Rock. Excellent large and very clean room and bathroom with an outdoor sitting area for relaxing and meals. Excellent large breakfast and we also had a lovely dinner prepared by the host. 20 minute downhill walk to town and a short walk in the opposite direction to the start of the Ella Rock walk from the railway line.

There are some things to improve such as the comfort of the pillows or sheets. I would say one of the negative things is that the shower doesn't have a lot of water pressure. Everything else was perfect and I would definitely stay there again!!! The place to go and the host to meet!

It is a place with a very good value for money. It is away from the city, in a quiet area surrounded by jungle. In 15 minutes walking distance from Ella. The breakfast is very complete and served with an amazing view of the jungle. The host, Dilipa, is very attentive, both in person and via WhatsApp. He always recommends the best prices and even tries to lower it for his guests. We felt very well taken care of. The room is very spacious and the bathroom is good.

Its only about 7 minutes by tuktuk to the train station, if you want you could walk down to the city, its only about 20 minutes and you have a great view to the nature and mountains around you. The property is up a steep hill. While walking down was absolutely fine - I would recommend getting a tuk tuk back up as the walk is a little tough!

Solitary resort is nestled just outside of the center of Ella but has amazing views given it is on a hill. Dileepa is an amazing host. He was so helpful and very responsive and responded whenever I needed anything and helped to organise and even picked up me up from the train station! He also organised a Tuktuk driver for me who was very kind and I would highly recommend using in your time there. As for the facilities, the room is extremely spacious and has everything you need.
