Amazing stay at Starfish Cabbana. We stayed for 2 nights and really enjoyed our time there. Amazing garden, comfy bed and room with A/C. Great breakfast, different every day - and the best avocado toast that I had! Location is perfect, just a few steps from the main road and the beach. Last but not least, amazing hospitality! Thari was super friendly and available, and even helped us book a bus ticket.

Starfish is the best place I’ve stayed at while in Sri Lanka - you should stay here if you can. The rooms are lovely and clean with air conditioning and a nice shower, and the garden is a great place to relax in the shade away from the rest of Arugam Bay. But the main thinking is that Tari the host is the just the best most welcoming guy. He’s a brilliant cook and makes a different amazing breakfast each day as well as recommending where to eat. He also will do anything to help you out while you’re his guest: for us he repaired my friend’s board fins for cheap without us having to do anything, and also took us out (for free) with him on scooters to see the national park, some temples and watch the sunset. He’s just such a nice guy who loves to host and makes you feel as welcome as possible. Thanks so much Tari!

My stay at starfish cabbana was so good I had to go back twice. The quality and the cleanness of the facilities are very high compared to other places in Arugam bay and the garden is a beautiful oasis where you can relax with the owners dog Maya. Thari, the host, goes above and beyond to make sure you have a pleasant stay. Him and his staff are always there to help when you need anything. Also the breakfast is incredibly delicious. I wouldn’t pass up the offer to stay here, especially if you’re into surfing as it’s one of the closest locations to main point beach.

We truly loved our stay. The location was very peaceful and just a short walk from the beach – perfect for a relaxing getaway. What stood out the most was the host’s incredible availability and willingness to help with anything we needed. The room was comfortable and with only four rooms in the entire space, the atmosphere was calm and quiet – just what we were looking for. There were quite a few mosquitoes during our stay, but the host went out of their way to get us mosquito repellent, which was really thoughtful and made a big difference. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a peaceful retreat with truly attentive hosting.

Tharidu, the son of the owner manages the place. He is a very kind person! He made us a lovely breakfast every morning and ensured that we had a wonderful stay. He even did our laundry without any charges. We highly recommend to stay at starfish cabbana!

Stylish wood and concrete minimalist but spacious huts. Desk and a hammock. Lush garden. Amazing host Tari, who would take me for a trip to the forest to see some wild animals. Great location just outside dunes and the bay.

We would’ve loved it to extend our stay here. This place has everything you need and is located a bit outside of the city - so quiet in the night, it the monkeys don’t come around - still everything in walking distance and a small supermarket 3 mins walk away. The owner made this stay unforgettable with self cooked fish curry and an adventure through the Nationalpark. You can tell he grew up in this area, he knows some nice locations. The room was good with a big bed, a mosquito net, a fan! Outside you have a private part where you can relax and a kitchen that you can share. The owner is very nice and make us a wonderful dinner for our anniversary! The location is really good 😊 Plus : The dog MAYA is very cute, you must cuddle her

Beautiful place! The biggest bed ever and very comfortable. Gardens are well taken care of and adds a nice privacy to the room. Very clean room and bathroom. We were greeted by amazing and super friendly hosts who gave us complementary coffee. Tuktuk parking behind a gate which was awesome for us. Very clean place and kitchen that you can use and store and cook food in if needed. We really loved our stay here. Host gave us great recommendations for food places and sight seeing. Perfect quiet stay in Arugam bay. Just outside of the main street so you can enjoy a peaceful night of sleep. And also very close to the beach, maybe a two minute walk. The breakfast eggs were amazing, very well done. Once baked and once poached, the cook really knew what he was doing.

We recently spent a few weeks at Starfish Cabanas, and it was absolutely perfect for us as a couple working remotely. The location is ideal – just a short walk to the beach, but tucked away enough to offer a peaceful and calm environment, which can be hard to find in Arugam Bay. The garden is beautiful and well-maintained, adding to the serene atmosphere. Thari, Dami, and Brian, who work at the cabanas, are such great people! They are incredibly kind and helpful, and always ready to help with anything we needed. It was such a treat to come back every morning after a surf and enjoy a delicious breakfast. We will miss that! The stable internet connection was a huge plus. We were able to work comfortably without any interruptions. And a special mention to the adorable animals around the property – they made our stay even more enjoyable (we love you Chuty and Maya!) We highly recommend Starfish Cabanas for anyone looking for a tranquil, comfortable place to stay in Arugam Bay. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Thanks for having us! We'll definitely be back :)

Bathroom is going through not the best times (door, shower, faucet and window), but OK

Ideal location: in the very center, close to the Main Point and street and quiet, green, and clean at the same time! Very friendly people work and live here, kitchen, hammock, bed mosquito net, ceiling fan, and breakfast are included. I am happy we chose this place and I spent a restful time here.

My cabana was modern and clean, with a nice small terrace which I enjoyed a lot, together with the garden. Delicious breakfast every morning and great help from the staff. I'd definitely book again here if I come back to ArugamBay.
