How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewVery attentive and friendly staff, we felt spoiled. The view was amazing. We stayed with a toddler and found the property to be a great choice. The only noise you hear is the ocean. They helped us organise any trip we were interested in and we were very happy with every recommendation. Highly recommend.

Verified reviewWonderful villa (as in pictures), few rooms, high standard accomodation. The beach is AWESOME (even if the ocean is often rough) pure nature you can walk for km without meeting tourists.
I suggest little improvement in the quality of the towels (beach and rooms)

Verified reviewThis boutique hotel is a true treasure on the southern coast of Sri Lanka. Nestled right by the ocean, the property offers an intimate and serene atmosphere that immediately makes you feel at home. With only a handful of rooms, the experience feels wonderfully personal and private - perfect for anyone seeking peace and quiet away from the usual crowds. The cuisine deserves special praise. Every meal was a highlight of the stay - freshly prepared with local ingredients, beautifully presented, and infused with authentic Sri Lankan flavors. From the seafood straight from the ocean to the vibrant curries and tropical fruits, dining here is a culinary journey that pairs perfectly with the coastal setting.

Verified reviewPeaceful haven. Pretty much had the place to ourselves which was great, not sure it’d be the same experience if it were busy. The staff were so lovely - from our waiters to the security guard! The a la carte menu was reasonably priced and portion sizes were generous. Our room was also huge!

Verified reviewDecoration of the hotel public areas, pool and the access to the beach. Food in the restaurant and breakfast was good. I liked the beach (long and clean)
Our room was on the first floor with limited view to the ocean and the furniture was taken all the space in the room. Lighting was limited. Room on the second floor was much better with more light and space Sunbeds were quite old and limited

Verified reviewSuper quit relaxed place. Great staff and nice pool for kids.
Quit a lot of Mosquitos. We payed 175$ instead of 590$ for our room. I would not have payed 590$ so value for money is abit off. 175$ is a great price for this hotel. The turtle conservatory close by is a complete scam where they pretend they care about animals but they only use them to rip off tourist. Dont go there.

Verified reviewSuperb location with a beautiful beach. The hotel put on live music in the evenings. The food was delicious although not very varied. The chef came out to greet us which was a nice touch. Friendly staff and considered interior design.
The manager was helpful but very to the point and not that friendly. Seemed very stressed. Everyone else was lovely.

Verified reviewAn oasis of beauty and tranquility. Just eight rooms, more like a home than a hotel. Such peaceful views across the lawn onto the beach through ancient trees. It’s on a very rare patch of Sri Lankan beach with no other hotels or restaurants, just the local fishermen. It’s a magical stretch of beach with hardly any tourists on it. The powerful waves means its not ideal for swimming. But if you walk around the corner 15 min away there is a calmer huge beach, but much more crowded and built up . I did have a quick dip every day, but better to swim around the corner . On the way is a rock jacuzzi pool perfect for young kids, and very popular with the locals at the week end. I discovered it’s co owned/managed by a norwegian so the material standards are really high, beautiful local furniture, gorgeous interior decoration, sophisticated simplicity or is it Asian elegant ‘hygge’ ? The food is delicious, beautifully presented with a choice of local and international dishes, fairly priced as well. As a solo traveller it’s a real haven. The staff are particularly kind and attentive. The manager even called me at 22.00 when I wasn’t back to check all was ok.
It’s perfect. Ideally all the staff understand English better as some things got lost in translation.
