How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Flatter pillows. Very minor but would be great to have the option
Can’t fault. Perfect location in Hikkaduwa (right across the road from Salty Swarmis) and the beach. The room is beautiful and modern, has everything you need. Bed was super comfortable, and pool was bliss. The staff were so lovely and made a great coffee and breakfast. They also accommodated us for a later checkout when we had a late night flight. Would highly recommend for a stay in Hikkaduwa.

Really nice and beautiful hotel, very calm. The hotel is located on the outskirts of Hikkaduwa, which I found ideal since it was not noisy and crowded in the neighbourhood. Walking distances to restaurants and cafes as well as the beach. Excellent staff, delicious food.

I didn't notice any critical flaws. unless they cook in the kitchen for a long time, but you can beat that by ordering in advance.
Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the pleasant and positive hotel staff and immediately checked in. The hotel is small and cozy. I would like to note the cleanliness - everything is shiny, the rooms are cleaned daily. the room has a full standard set: WiFi, safe, minibar, hair dryer, minimal set of dishes. You can ask the staff for everything you need. our reservation was with breakfast, it takes a long time to cook, but it's delicious! my personal recommendation is shakshuka and avocado toast. The breakfast menu is small, and I got a little tired by the end of the trip, but it seems to me that it's like this almost everywhere. excellent location, everything is close: the beach, shops, restrooms, and a currency exchange office

We had a fabulous stay at the Temptation hotel. The room was gorgeous, and so was the view, the breakfast and the pool. We were met by excellent personell who made sure our stay was great from start to finish. We highly recommend Temptation and Hikkaduwa.

Rooms are a little bit noisy due to the busy road, instead of 2 of the same pillows, offer 2 different ones.
The cleanest place we stayed during our 2 week journey through Sri Lanka. The place is very well maintained and very friendly staff.

The best hotel we’ve stayed at in Sri Lanka (out of 5 hotels on our trip). Everything was outstanding. The staff and service were fantastic and friendly. Delicious and well-priced food in the restaurant. The bed was very comfortable. Will recommend this hotel to anyone in a heartbeat. Just beautiful!

Just nothing to Say
This hotel is excellent, which I never expected. Many hotel pictures show a more amazing beauty than it is. The real situation of Temptation is several times more than the picture. I have one thing to say, there is no such good hotel in Hikkaduwa like TEMPTATION. I would never hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone. The friendly staff are always looking out for our comfort as well as our safety. Cleanliness is paramount. Will definitely come back

There was a party somewhere in the surrounding which was quite loud the first night. The second night some guests were loud late into the night.
The hotel is wonderful. The breakfast is superb and the room is meticulously clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful time!

Temptation was such a gorgeous hotel, the pictures don’t even do it justice. The rooms were so nice and the whole place was spotless with housekeeping every day. It’s in a great location too close to everything. Would highly recommend and it’s very reasonable for what you get 😃
