I was missing the regular windows in the room. The hotel is very nice but probably needs some mantaiance.

View on the ocean is great, super nice and helpful staff, swimming pools, close to the center but still aside and very calm. Rooms are nice but in some of them there is only the roof window and is was a bit dark.

Breakfast food (Sri Lankan) was always cold. Didn’t eat Western breakfasts so can’t comment

Amazing room and view, you can walk straight out of your door and into saltwater pool; spacious and beautifully kept. Clean facilities and additional services available including laundry and spa. Perfect location to access local beaches, tulips tusk, restaurants and shops. Friendly and helpful staff. Freshly cooked omelettes to order for breakfast.

The decking around the pool needs attention, as you could hurt your feet on some parts. Not many sunbeds available if the hotel was to get busy.

We loved the pools and the amazing views of the sea. It was only a short walk into town and there was a good selection of food at breakfast, including freshly made omelettes, fruit and Sri Lankan dishes. The staff were lovely too. The family room was spacious with two bathrooms and very comfy beds!

There was nothing we didn't like. It was a shame that the second pool was closed, but this was explained to us on arrival. The WiFi worked well but kept dropping (connected, can't provide internet), although it could have been an issue with our devices.

Lovely hotel. We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment, which was the size of a small house! 2 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 seating areas and a roof terrace. Dilshan cleaned the place immaculately and even decorated the bed on my husband's birthday. We loved the spacious apartment, the pool with views over the sea and the friendly staff. The breakfast buffet was nice. The hotel location is walkable to the main street and beach in Unawatuna, but far enough away to be peaceful and quiet. There are plenty of friendly tuk tuk drivers who will drive you anywhere you don't fancy walking. It's definitely worth visiting the nearby turtle beach where you can feed and swim with giant turtles. Costs about 1000 LKR (3€) to get a tuk tuk there and back, was the highlight of our stay in Unawatuna.

The food selection is decent, but the taste could definitely be improved. The bakery items could be fresher as well. Additionally, the parking situation is terrible, and the Wi-Fi coverage is quite poor. Overall, there’s potential for a better experience if these issues were addressed.

This is a wonderful retreat that offers the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The location is serene and tranquil, providing a much-needed break. The rooms are beautifully appointed and extremely comfortable, making it easy to relax. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant stay.

    Nice hotel by the ocean
    • Leisure trip
    • Family with young children

    • Stayed 5 nights

The hotel is bit worn, and room prices are still quite high. We had for example lots of stains in our sofa, one of the wardrobes door couldn't open properly, fridge's shelf was broken, fuse went off several times when we wanted to intensify air conditioning at the second floor bed room. The staff tried to fix the fuse problem, but it still kept going off randomly. We then just lifted the fuse switch up again by ourselves. There wasn't a sink or any shelfs at the first floors bathroom (toilet + shower), instead the sink was next to the bathroom glass wall on the bedroom's side. There aren't any hand towels, but this seems to be a sort of standard in Sri Lankan hotels. Based on previous reviews, we knew that there wasn't much windows in this type of room, and it wasn't a problem for us. There was a nice balcony at the third floor facing the hotel roof and sea, but there wasn't anything to hang e.g. your wet swim wear or towels. We had our own clothesline with us.

Large rooms, everything was clean, comfortable beds, good breakfast and good food at the restaurant, friendly and helpful staff. Even though there aren't much space for sun beds, we manage to find beds when ever we needed them, nice and not crowded pools. Short walk (about 7 - 8 min.) to the nearest beach. Lots of restaurants and shops nearby within short walking distance, easy also to get a tuk-tuk. Peaceful place away from the Unawatuna's hustle and bustle. Nice to listen to the ocean and see the waves hit the rocks at the shore.

The hotel could do with some maintenance especially to the outdoor areas, pool surrounds. Although there are loads of staff working at the hotel they are not paying attention to things like providing pool towels are asking guests if they would like to order a drink, etc.

Breakfast was really good, great selection of Sri Lankan and Western options. The location is good, short walk to the beach and several good restaurants.

The location and facilities are lovely. But really it is the staff and the service that made this such a comfortable stay. The property struggles a little when the rains come in full force, but the welcoming nature and willingness to help of the staff makes it a comfortable and lovely stay. The rooms are generously sized and clean.

I expected more from the front desk; wifi-problems in the room took quite long to be resolved and they were not able to facilitate transport beyond their own vehicles. Not a really big deal. Don’t book this for the kids play room; it was terrible; poor lighting and dead cockroaches; had to ask twice to remove them. That was a bigger deal for me.

Good restaurant with nice staff. Great pools with fantastic views. Very spacious accommodation.

Extra tour arrangements and day trips are not bad, but overpriced and average value for money. Instead, book with some reliable agent in the village or over in Galle to get better deals without subcontractors, endless excuses for non- performance, or completely unnecessary detours to ‘herbal gardens’ or other ripoff schemes. Location is a bit tricky - at the end of a dead end road just outside Unawatuna. We were once stuck for a few hours after heavy downpour and flash floods covering the only village road out. Hotel-run massage services are eagerly sold, but overpriced and poor value for money - no real professionals, If you’re stopping over in the area, it’s a nice choice. But for a more up-market, less tourist trappy village atmosphere nearby, better stay in Galle to enjoy a very nice fortress town, excellent food, cafés, cool shops and lots of nice little hidden corners.

The hotel layout and design is quite lovely. The family room was in fact a small 2-floor townhouse with a nice rooftop terrace. The seaside is spectacular - a natural array of rocks where waves can crash several meters high depending on the tide and weather. Staff have been very helpful and always super friendly. Breakfast buffet was excellent with many healthy choices. Beautiful pool areas and lots of nice corners to chill.

    1. The hotel uses physical keys, which is a security concern as they can be easily copied. 2. Hot water barely comes through in the shower. 3. The Wi-Fi doesn’t reach the rooms on the third floor. 4. The area around the hotel is too dark at night, which can be scary, especially with dogs barking. 5. The safe box wasn’t working properly; you need to enter the code multiple times to get it to work. 6. No elevator available. 7. The breakfast was average. 8. Pets seem to be allowed, which resulted in dogs barking at midnight and early morning. 9. The towels were dirty.

    1. Excellent location near shops and restaurants. 2. Very kind and helpful staff. 3. The hotel offers two pools—one saltwater and one natural—which is great. 4. Large room with a comfortable bed.

Arrived at check in time but room wasn’t ready till and hour and half later, though could use facilities but everything inside cases, Quiet in evenings, only one night had a show and dinner which was lovely. £11pp not including drinks Some ambiance in the evenings to keep guests in hotel would be good. We ended up eating out in evenings locally with live music.

Rooms were lovely spacious, beds very comfy, air con effective, pools were great lots of seating areas and clean. Restaurant staff friendly and chatty. Shuttle to the beach house was excellent though not consistent, to get closer to the beach and use sunbeds there included but limited amount or to walk around the area to browse in the shops. Breakfast was very good though repetitive but lots of choices Sports hall with gym and pool and foosball for kids was great addition. And free to use.

A pleasant stay in a modern hotel

    • Stayed 2 nights

We felt that the hotel was very overpriced for the area and Sri Lanka. There were not enough sun loungers, and only one or two were in the shade. The room we stayed in was located right next to the work that the hotel was completing. This work was noisy, which meant afternoon naps and layins could not happen. Our A/C kept tripping the electrics throughout our stay, which meant that we kept having to get up through the night to access the fuse board and switch the A/C back on. The restaurant had themed food nights. However, my children don't eat fish, so on the night that they did a seafood night we had to go elsewhere to eat, which we did not want to do.

The accommodation was beautiful, with lots of room for me and my family. We asked for another bed and were not charged extra, and it was done with limited fuss. The breakfast in the morning was great and had everything for everyone. The pools were also lovely with an amazing view. We had lunch by the pool while staying there, and the food was great. My daughter and I had facials and a sports massage, and this was really good value for money, and we really enjoyed it.
