The room has a smell, but that is probably because od the way it is built and the fact that it is in nature ☺️

Very nice property in the nature. If you are looking for something like that, this is for you :) The host was very nice and deserves a 10! He: - helped us with the transportation (arranged a tuktuk to lions rock, took us to the bus in the morning when we went to Kandy) - made us breakfast to go, when we left the villa at 6.15 - took us around the lake and showed us some very beautiful places, we also saw some animals - arranged us an ayurvedic spa (which was a bit expensive, so I am not sure I reccomend)

Only thing I’d say is that it’s not in Sigiriya, it’s on the outskirts, good for relaxing but if you want to get dinner in the “city” you have to walk 30 min or grab a TikTok, which is also fine, but be aware of this when booking!

A really nice little “house” in the middle of the jungle, outside of Sigiriya. We were there for 3 nights and Athula and the staff were incredibly welcoming, making sure we always had tea and breakfast, he also took us personally to the restaurant on the first night because of the wild elephants and made sure we got home safe:) My friend got sick on the last day and he gave her some Ayurvedic tea, we really appreciated it! Also, we saw some monkeys and cool birds! They have a lot of kittens on the property which as a cat lover was amazing Breakfast was really good and abundant

Far away from any restaurants or sights, tuktuk or taxi were organised for us. Aircon did not work during the first night, as the main switch behind the house was switched off. Socket adaptor was provided but very hard to put in. Room smelled a little musty, including mattress and pillows.

Beautiful heritage building. Lovely garden, but hardly any birds or squirrels (maybe because they were not fed..?), breakfast and dinner was nice and plentiful. Guy who was running it (owner was not around) was friendly and addressed occurring issues.

    Overall maintenance could be improved.

The best (and almost the onliest) part of this stay was the receptionist, unfortunately don’t know his name, but he was brilliant. Friendly, helpful.

This was a beautiful property and the current photos don’t do it justice. The courtyard garden is beautiful and tranquil. The rooms are simple but comfortable. Unfortunately during my stay I had a serious accident resulting in injury and Atule raced to the hospital to help me. He went way above and beyond to help me. He travelled to another hospital with me, stayed whilst I received treatment and fetched water and snacks for me. The next day, he spent 4/5 hrs at the hospital helping me to be discharged. He arranged transport for me and picked up my medicine. All this whilst running a busy guest house! This goes beyond what anybody would expect when booking accommodation but it was truely appreciated. I wish that I could return the many thanks. Also before the accident, Atule was always on hand to help and guide. The food served here was the best I have eaten in Sri Lanka. Absolutely wonderful food. It would be a great shame if you did not stay at this accommodation

The only thing to mention is, that the window of the bedroom goes out to the courtyard so if you want privacy you have to keep the blinds closed.

We would really recommend staying here while you explore the area around Sigiriya. The hotel is located very close to the lion rock (about 10 min TukTuk drive), and the host is happy to help with any questions, wishes or the organization of trips. The courtyard is beautifully decorated and the breakfast was literally the best we got during our whole two-week trip. The room is small but clean and has air conditioning an a mosquito net.

    Nothing :)

Our host was so lovely and incredibly accommodating. We arrived very early and he still let us check in. That meant the world to us as the went to Sigiriya straight from landing at Colombo airport in the middle of the night. The location was only a short ride away from Sigiriya and Pidurangala, so that was very convenient. The room was nice and there was a lovely garden where he feeds the birds and squirrels every day, so they come visit while you’re having breakfast :)

    Nothing

I couldn't have felt more at home. Atules hospitality was one of a kind. I was the only guest for the majority of my stay and he showed me around the area, gave me great tips for my ongoing tour of Sri Lanka, arranged my trips and at one point even paid for my bus ticket. His cooking is excellent and I enjoyed every meal on the cosy veranda. Absolutely would stay here again.

Nothing! Just realise you may adopt a pet frog a long the way

Our host and chef made the stay complete! What a wonderful person who made us feel right at home. As soon as we arrived we wanted to walk around and he took us on a tour to see some lagoons and lions rock pointing out elephant footprints along the way. What a wonderful welcome! We were given afternoon tea and had delicious curries cooked for us! He helped us arrange tours the way we wanted to do so and they work with reliable drivers. We felt so taken care of!

The host was wonderful at meeting us although we arrived very late and he served us tea. Rooms were very clean and ready for us. Breakfast was wonderful in the morning. We felted very well looked after. He also shared recommendations on what to do or who to talk to about a local sightseeing. Even called the local tour guide for us. We are all enjoyed the place.

the garden/ patio has a lot of plants which offers lots of shade but it also attracts bugs and reptiles (non dangerous ones) so if you’re afraid of those this might not be the place for you.

Atule (the Chef and caretaker) was our highlight. His hospitality was amazing, as was his food. he helped arrange a Tuktuk for us, gave us helpful tips and showed us around the lake close by.

Dinner was a little bit expensive. However it is optional.

We had a lovely time at The Courtyard Villa. Very relaxing space with a lot of attention to nice little details (including a squirrel pub). The owner was away at a wedding but the cook looked after us very well. He attended to every need from bringing us evening tea, to organising bikes, making 5am breakfasts, organising tuktuks, to making sure we had mosquito candles so we wouldn't get bitten whilst reading on the porch. He is also a super friendly guy who has lived an interesting life. We can recommend this as a great place to explore Sigirya and also to relax with a book on the porch at the end of a great day.

There was a power cut (nationwide) which obviously is outside everyone's control but there was no explanation of what was happening. We were literally in the dark no candles or torches.

The cleanliness of this property was questionable. There was no hot water. The caretaker was very friendly and made an effort to be welcoming and hospitable. The place has great potential.

The room was slightly small for two people with luggage. But it's perfect if you have less luggage or for single occupancy.

The staff was super helpful and the property was very accommodating. They let us check in early on a very short notice, free of charge. Atul, the caretaker was always available and helpful with suggestions and recommendations. The property is quaint and lovely yet super close to the main road and the tuk tuk stand.
