We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

ItalyActually I loved everything. If I need to find minor suggestions, beds could have been more comfortable and shower water was only hot or cold.
10/10, if you are looking for a retreat in the middle of the nature, with delicious typical Sri Lanka food and a spiritual experience immerse in a beautiful well decorated site and rooms, you should stop by. They offered Ayurveda treatments, yoga lessons,.cookery class and there are plenty of waterfalls and beautiful spots for hikings. The staff is always very gentle and around to support. Of you are expecting best WiFi connections, not willing to connect with natures and animals and looking for western food and commodities look for something else.

AustraliaOh my gosh! It was so beautiful! Set in the forest, creeks all around The room was amazing and just made me feel at home. The staff were so kind and helpful and the Aurveydic treatments? So good Oh and the food?? The best I have eaten in forever - it’s all aurveydic - the flavours and spices, sooo amazing This place made me feel calm and relaxed - if I’d have known I would have booked longer

SwitzerlandThe food was delicious, but it was a bit pricey. It was traditional Sri Lankan food, which is great.
The property was incredibly relaxing and enjoyable for my first time at a retreat centre of this kind. The river and the jungle surrounding the property were both very soothing. The room’s decoration was also very special and unique.

GermanyIt's a jungle paradise and by far the most special place I have visited in Sri Lanka. I enjoyed wonderful yoga classes and very delicious meals. It's perfect for everyone who wants to escape from stress and busy days for a while 😊

BelgiumNot a minus for me but be aware that this place is really in the jungle so there are no restaurants or bars close. Full board is possible with great Sri Lankan food, otherwise other options are in driving distance.
Great place to unwind and disconnect from loud city and the heat. The center is practically in the jungle, reachable by tuktuk or taxi from Kandy and is beautifully decorated (the owner is in antiques business). Beautiful surroundings and great facilities. I took some ayurvedic treatments and they were great (there's also ayurvedic doctor). I can also recommend yoga classes in the morning in their yoga space overlooking the trees. I took full board and all the food was delicious. Very friendly staff - they helped with any special request and always provided very detailed explanations, there are also options to organize day trips. My room was huge and air conditioning was not needed since it did not get hot at all in the jungle. Planning to go back for a full ayurvedic detox program. Big plus - 3 friendly dogs and couple of cats :)

United KingdomWhile we loved the character of the old furniture and the rustic charm of the place, some practical aspects such as toilet seats could be renewed and the toilets themselves thoroughly cleaned. I maybe wrong but I think the description of the room made a reference to a kitchenette, when in reality there was just an electric kettle there.
Amazing setting with the greenery surrounding you and humming of the river and singing of birds creating all the noises you hear. Having a bath and shower outdoors but still with full privacy and enjoying the morning coffee on the terrace was fabulous. The tastefully run down design and upkeep of the buildings and the interior further makes you to disconnect from the normal life. We also very much enjoyed the breakfast and dinner buffets full of Srilankan flavours, in particular when the food was well heated up before serving. Swimming in the river was great and my wife loved the long massage and a yoga session she had. Everyone in the staff team were really professional and helpful. It was nice also have the opportunity to meet the owner and hear the unique place’s story first hand.

United KingdomThe place has many antiques as the owner ( who built the place ) is an antiques dealer in Kandy - they could do with a dust ! Maybe a fridge in the room would be helpful The towels are adhoc - all different - would be good if towels were a set !!
This is a little oasis about a 50min drive from Kandy It’s so peaceful There is nowhere nearby so we opted for half board The lodgings are set over several acres on a hillside - you can hear the river below 😊 The staff are very friendly especially ViMutday ( !!! Not sure how to spell but this is how it sounded to me ) who speaks excellent English 👍- he is full of very useful information too 👍👍😊 Food was very good We particularly loved the buffalo curd and palm sugar treacle 😋😋- dal excellent too There is no alcohol available as it hasnt got a license - some other guests had brought their own ! We went to the waterfall - 20 min walk away with the 3 house dogs who are so gorgeous - they were our guides there and back !! - the water fall was beautiful and we swam in the pool there - glorious it was We also had a massage ( amazing ) and had a really good early morning yoga class with a lovely doctor The rooms are massive too and when you suss out the hot water the shower is great It’s a very tranquil place out in the jungle - beds are massive and are very comfortable - staff are super friendly too Body wash and moisturiser is provided too

NetherlandsThe other treatments (massages etc) were nice, but a bit overpriced. Same for the food, nice, but a bit overpriced.
We really loved this location! I felt very peaceful while staying at The Kandy Samadhicentre- we stayed here for one full day while it was raining very hard. No better place to just chill and watch the rain :). it’s a very big terrain with a pleasant atmosphere. I had a yoga session with the doctor- she is very nice and she showed me some positions I never knew about! Very grateful for that! I also booked a consult with her, which I recommend!

United KingdomThis is an amazing place! It's set on a hillside in the forest, and the surroundings are really peaceful. I only stayed one night, and had an excellent Ayurvedic massage ($55 for 1.5 hours) and did a yoga session ($15). I wished I'd stayed longer! My room was in one of the many outbuildings, each with their own character. It was huge and in fact more like an apartment with its own seating area and little kitchen. The bed was pretty comfy, and my only complaint was that there was no hot water. I went for half board. Both dinner and breakfast were buffets, which were excellent and plentiful. The staff were extremely professional and helpful, and I really enjoyed my stay there. I took a tuktuk there from Kandy, which cost 2000 Rs. It's also possible to take a bus from Kandy to Orutotha, and from there it's about a 15min tuktuk ride up to the hotel (I did this on the way back). Overall, highly recommended as a relaxing retreat!

The Kandy Samadhi Center is a wonderful place to immerse yourself in local culture and food. Every detail has been carefully and thoughtfully crafted, from the unique decor to the antique furniture that gives the space an authentic charm. The serene atmosphere, combined with the opportunity to enjoy traditional Sri Lankan cuisine, makes this a truly enriching experience. A perfect retreat for those seeking peace, beauty, and a deeper connection to the local heritage.

FranceNot much we didn't like. As there is always room for improvement maybe a little booklet in room to explain how things work and what to do within the center and maybe in the surroundings. A map of the place (quite big) would be good too.
The Samadhi centre is a beautiful peaceful accommodation. The rooms are huge and well equipped, located next to a river and in the middle of nature. We stayed here when we arrived and it was perfect to rest for a few days. The super tasty local food is cooked everyday on request, the staff is super friendly and available to accommodate your needs.

BelgiumThough the place is remote, it's still close to a road with cars, tuktuks, ,... So at some houses in the compound you can still hear the traffic. I could stay in the highest room on the mountain and it was very peaceful. This place could be like an ashram. It's a pity they still serve/ provide/ allow alcohol (and smokes!). This has an impact on the atmosphere and for that reason I wouldn't go there anymore.
It's without doubt a beautiful place. The dining hall has some Harry Potter ambience, specially in the evening when the oil lamps are lit. Staff is very friendly and food very good and authentic Srilankan. If you want something else for a change, it's a good place. This place could be like an ashram. It has the perfect location, quietness and solitude. Nature is very abundant and the river inside compound is lovely.

ItalyWhile the location architecture and design are incredible, the organisation is rather confused. We only found out when receiving the bill that yoga classes were not included for instance. The rooms and houses can be quite isolated and are reached by dark steep paths and stairs which are very slippery when it rains so it is really important to ask where you will be staying if you are a solo traveller or have any even minor mobility issues. It probably should be experienced as a retreat
Wonderful experience of being in the forest. The houses immersed in nature and the design of all the spaces are beautiful. We constantly discovered new terraces and rooms. The guests are fun as it attracts interesting people who like yoga and isolated retreats.
