We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThis hotel is absolutely fabulous, located in a spectacular location. The views are incredible.During our stay, we saw monkeys in the trees from our bedroom balcony. The staff provided a 5 star customer service experience. They really couldn't do enough for us. As for the food, wow, it was of such high standard, incredibly tasty, and such large portions! When we departed, unfortunately, our taxi, via pick me cancelled at the last minute. The hotel staff pulled out all the strings, providing us with alternative travel arrangements at such short notice when we had to travel 180 kilometres. A big thank you to all the team for this. If you are looking for a unique, rural location to relax and appreciate stunning views, then this is the hotel for you. Allison Richard Wayne and Karen.

ItalyWiFi Is not what you expect for a structure like this especially because it's set in the middle of the mountains.
Everything was perfect! Caring staff and a very good chef in the kitchen. Our room was amazing and the view was perfect. We had a very good time there.

The room is so spacious and it had stunning views overlooking the mountains. The best part was at night the sky full of stars are at your eye level. I have never seen anything like that! And we rushed to the telescope on the rooftop and saw constellations that you never see through the naked eye! And the weather is so beautiful, chilly and it’s like living through the clouds. The food, the staff are top notch and highly recommend!

All of the meals we had were prepared with care, with generous and tasty portions. Nothing but good things to say about this place. Thank you so much for having us. We had a lovely visit! Sri LankaCould have had a heater in the room. Also wifi signals are at times poor and needs improvement.
Breakfast was excellent and it was located in a central location with easy access to attractions in Riverston. The staff was helpful, friendly and amiable.

Sri LankaThe rooms do not have AC, as the hotel explained this is due to limited electricity in the area and naturally cool nights. However, the afternoons were a bit warm inside the rooms at the time we checked in. A fan or cooler option would have been a welcome addition. Some windows also lacked curtains, and having them on all windows would improve comfort and privacy. For the price of $202 per night (BB), a few more amenities would have added to the experience. While a hair dryer was not initially in the room, the reception kindly provided one upon request. The Wi-Fi experienced occasional disruptions, but the staff made efforts to address the issue. Given the limited mobile data coverage in the area, consistent Wi-Fi would make the stay even more enjoyable.
The highlight of our stay was the location. The hotel is set in a beautiful area, and the view from the room was absolutely stunning. Waking up to such scenery was truly special. The food was enjoyable, though the à la carte menu leaned more toward snacks than full meals. A greater selection of main courses would elevate the dining experience, particularly for the price point. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which added warmth to our stay.

United KingdomThe package i have received is BB basis and there were no meal pricing were displayed anywhere in the site, email i have received or even in the Hotel website. When the inquiry made about asking meal plans with pricing, the response received was utterly dissatisfied. They have charged Fixed rate per meal per person and reduced to upgrade the package into full board or half board. This location is highly remote and no ear by facility for eat-out other than taking all meals from hotel. By knowing that they are misusing the meal pricing when it comes to package pricing. I have paid more than the total package price i have received for the meals since i had no other option to arrange my meals. Its techncally hidden pricing and they take the location advantage in very unethical manner.
Location , cleanliness, comfort are very good. However the booking constraints are not ethical. Staff is nice but expected better customer service from the reservation department.

NetherlandsOutdated rooms Lots of mess/garbage around the hotel, really horrible Hotel really need some maintenance and clean up. Pictures on booking look way way better than reality This should be positioned as a basic two star hotel with good kitchen and great views and a “back to nature” accommodation . And with that you have a great experience
Beautiful location in the middle of silent nature with amazing views. Food is so good and authentic although you can also get western food or nice panini for lunch Rooms are spacious but bit outdated Staff is friendly but struggle with the language

United KingdomFront staff aren't very accommodating. (Claimed to help with arranging transport but this service was not provided.) The Suite room (with mountain views) had dirty windows, mould in the room and bathroom, and stains on the bed sheets. Alongside damp bedding. The hotel was under complete reconstruction, which is fine but definitely something we should have been informed of before arrival. General value for money is not good; we have had superior service in accommodation 10 times cheaper elsewhere in Sri Lanka. In the end, we cancelled our second night and just stayed the one, as we didn't feel clean in the property. Overall, I wouldn't recommend staying here, unless the hotel comes into better management. They have a great venue, it just needs running better.
View is lovely. Staff are friendly. Food was great. Location is tranquil.

United KingdomThere were a few things that could have been improved including the food and drinks, fly nets on the windows and aircon. The room we had was huge with multiple beds but felt quite tired / not as nice as the pictures. I didn't find this place as welcoming as everywhere else we've been and the room wasn't cleaned / water replaced etc. each night.
The views are fantastic and the bed was large and comfortable.

NetherlandsApparently we were not that lucky, or maybe more critical than some tourists. The fact that in a corner of the restaurant one can consume Shisha already was a warning sign, but there is far more worrying. The room types are quite messy. The normal ‘deluxe’ room that half of our family had was actually basically a suite, with separate sitting room and large balcony. The ‘180 degrees suite’ however was despite the size a letdown: 5 beds hence more a family room, not a real sitting area, no balcony, and a lot of wasted space like a separate coat rack room with space for a suitcase and 50+ coats. And even a nice small meditation room. No experience with the ‘360 degrees’ suites in the Sky bridge tower, except that as the hotel is on a mountain slope the views are more also 180 degrees nowhere near 360’. So this confusion with rooms makes it a Frankenstein-like experience; a family room is not a suite and should not be called that, and a normal room with 2 parts can be called a suite. Breakfast (1 x Western 3 x Lankan) was excellent. Dinner however was a huge shame, and another part of the Frankenstein-risks. We needed 1 Western veggie; not on the menu but waiters agreed to make it pasta with veggies, egg and cheese. And 3 Lankan dinners, and the menu did contain all kinds of weird stuff but not a standard rice & curry. So in the end we ordered a mix of Lankan food (with toasted bread instead of rice) and mashed potatoes and chicken. Well guess it, the cook delivered pure completely tasteless pasta without anything extra, with veggies to the side; and then the Lankan/mashed mixture. He apologised later that the waiters had not told him about the cheese and eggs, and delivered at least a small bowl of hot and not too spicy tomato sauce. The waiters however had their own part to play in the mess: while we were eating the soup they started bringing mains, and 5 minutes later and our mouths full they came asking for the dessert order.
The name alone promises a Grand Old style hotel, but the pictures already show that it’s relatively new. It looks like a private mansion converted to a hotel in the last 10 years, nothing bad with that. The location is as stunning as Knuckles can be; climbing the stairs to the free Sky Bridge platform (telescope was sadly out of order) gives views of many miles. And if you have luck with the meals and rooms it could be a fantastic experience, equalling similar Knuckles hotels like Hunas Falls or Stratishla.

United KingdomWe were unfortunate enough to not get a view due to weather. This is no one's fault however given the price of the hotel, the wider offering is limited. Food and service was ok, however not notably different to other, much cheaper experiences.
