Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Strange noises from outside can be quite distracting and tiresome.
The fact that the place is closer to the beach just a walk away! Plenty of shops nearby for quick snacks and food.

The mamagement and staff were polite and helpful. Located in quiet location that is close to beach and shops. Bed was not that comfortable. Room is average size with attached showeroom and balcony. Happy with the cleaniness of the room. Overall, it was a good experience and will use again.

They had not one type of breakfast and rooms are too small, we had few issues at the hotel but staff fixed it very quickly.

There was no soap or other toiletries, no drinking water. Basic things like this should be included when you’re paying this much for a room. The lights in the hallway shone very brightly into the room from the window above the door. I got up a few times to turn them off but they kept getting turned back on. Not sure why, we were the only guests here. Nobody at reception to ask. The wifi was terrible, would connect for a minute then immediately drop out.
The room and bathroom were clean and tidy. There are 2 train stations nearby which is handy if that’s how you’re travelling. You can easily do a day trip into Colombo via the train which leaves fairly regularly from mount Lavinia station. Can walk to the beach across the train track. There is a supermarket and wine shop within a few minutes walking distance.

Not much to moan about, the swimming pool is a tiddler and a bit cold in the shade all day.. Not somewhere to hang out really.
Very safe and great location. Fully functional room with AC, clean bathroom and nice double (bit short if you're over 5'10!! Staff were lovely.

The hotel is very inexpensive - it really would be churlish to criticise as my stay there was very comfortable
The staff at The Villa were very accommodating and obliging. They gave good service throughout my stay and allowed to check out at 2 instead of 11 which was something I appreciated. The hotel is comfortable, clean and welcoming.

Air conditioning remote didn’t work so unable to adjust temperature. Had to stand on a little table to turn it on and off at the ceiling. Minor issue and can imagine it’s not the case for other rooms.
Good location very near the beach. Decent sized room equipped with fridge, kettle and cups. Staff were welcoming.

Staff were incredibly welcoming and accommodated our 3.45am arrival time without any issue. The manager was very kind, helpful, and full of tips and recommendations if you need them. Housekeeping staff were very friendly and polite too. The room itself was simple but comfortable with all facilities working as they should.

Very rarely things are perfect, the only thing was I thought the bathroom was a little small but everything worked and this would not stop me from staying here again.

There breakfast we didn't get, because they only have that time was an English menu wich is not affordable price range for us. So we go out side to take our meals.
