How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe never actually stayed here due to a chaotic experience. The night before check-in, the owner messaged that our room was unavailable because of a “waterline issue” but claimed he had arranged other accommodation. After traveling from Kandy, we found that hotel had no booking for us. When we went to Green Inn, the owner said he’d try to find us something. He secured one night in an unopened hotel, then told us to come back the next morning. The next day he texted from Mirissa saying he’d “find something”, and we never heard from him again. We had to arrange our own stay last-minute for the rest of the trip.

The hotel cancelled the booking 2 days before due to alleged water problems. We later saw this has happened to some guests as well. So booking in this place is not secure as this may happen to you too!! In our case, the manager wrote to us a few hours later and gave us 2 of the 3 rooms we booked. THE FINAL PRICE IS NOT THE ONE SHOWING ON BOOKING. THE HOTEL ADDS A COMMISSION OF ABOUT 10-20%. I suppose this is the commission the have to pay to Booking, but should not be on the guest. Breakfast is very poor. Simple sandwich and coffee or tea.
Thank you for your comments. You said your little ones were there, and 6 adults ate. That's a lie, you mentioned this problem just before you left. I don't know what kind of person you are. But think about the help you have received. People are like fingers on a hand.change thank you 🙏🏽 I Trust Karma thank you good life 🙏🏽

Verified reviewSupun was an excellent host and made our stay in Trincomalee much easier. He is very approachable and always ready to help – you can reach out to him at any time and he will find a solution for anything you need for a carefree holiday. The apartment was clean, and the beach is just a 5-minute walk away. Highly recommended!

Verified reviewThe thing we liked the most it was the staff. We got to know the owner and he was really nice with us. He made our stay better. He arranged different tours for us like going to Pigeon island as well as going whale and dolphin watching.

Verified reviewthe room was clean. location is not bad, but still it's quite a walk to the beach. to rent a scooter directly from the place was very convenient, and the breakfast was really good! Supun is a very friendly host and a fun guy who's doing his best.
there were some spots on the bedsheets, but I didn’t see it as a big problem. I hated the smell of the product they use to disinfect the room. I couldn’t fall asleep because of it on the first night — the smell was too strong, and I couldn’t get used to it. the walls are thin, so you can hear early guests, doors slamming, and all kinds of noise quite clearly. it would be nice to have some rules about staying quiet at least until 7:30 in the morning or something like that.

Verified reviewI stayed for almost a week. Very nice place. Everything is nice and new. The rooms are big. The bathrooms and decent too. The staff are very helpful. Supun and uncle Logan are amazing people. The went over and beyond to help out with anything and everything. You just have to ask and they will help out in any way they can. They also helped me rent a scooter. I didn't have to go anywhere. The scooter got delivered to the inn. The breakfast is very tasty and they always offer tea and coffee. Supun is very happy to be your local guide. Short walk to the beach. They even went out of their way to help me find a picture frame I wanted! And they can help you with transport to and from the inn. They even let me have an early check in and late check out as the train timings are very odd. I will definitely stay there again.
The only thing worth mentioning, is that there is warm water mainly during the day as it is solar heated. So during the morning and evening the water is a bit cold but I didn't mind that. Just something to note.
Thank you for your advice, it is important to us. See you again. I wish you a successful journey.
