Breakfast was simple but delicious

Wifi didn’t work at all for either of the couples we were with so we just used our data

Lovely location in a beautiful property. The pool was lovely. Tranquil and quiet (apart from a bit of noise from building work nearby). The staff were very helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was good, the sour dough bread was lovely toasted! the rooms were well appointed and comfortable with tea and coffee facilities. All in all a lovely stay!

Nothing all was great!

There was a slight problem with my room, however the staff quickly responded by upgrading my booking. All the staff are super friendly and helpful and a special thank you to Mrs Wickramasingha on reception who really was exceptional, going out of her way to help with everything that I needed and ensuring that my stay was perfect. The overall facilities both inside the rooms and outside in the garden and pool were excellent. The property location is very quiet and a short tuktuk ride into the near by town.

Second time we’ve stayed there, this time in the penthouse. Very spacious, well furnished and comfortable.

The safes in both rooms are too high, resulting in me leaving jewellery in there which very fortunately was found and handed in by a lovely, honest Danish lady. Kerstin has been brilliant and has said she will send the jewellery when she goes to Germany in May. I’m really grateful to her for taking the trouble to do this. The safe in my friend’s room was too high for her to reach so she used mine. This is the only criticism I have of the hotel, it was lovely.

This is a beautiful and serene property with the most welcoming and friendly staff especially Tharanga who was always smiling and extremely helpful. Our room was a good size and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom is well appointed. Everything you need for a relaxing holiday. A tray with tea and coffee was provided on request. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful. The whole property is beautifully furnished with lots of great artwork. The tropical gardens are exceptional with a large pool with sunbeds, It’s a 15min walk to the beach, restaurants and bars or jump in a tuk tuk. We loved the jungle side setting and watched fruit bats, hummingbirds, and fireflies from our balcony. The owner made us feel very welcome and always took time to say hello and offer assistance.

We loved our stay here. Amazing staff, beautiful gardens and lovely rooms. The property is just out of town and is so peaceful. The owner is lovely and she and her staff go out of their way to make you feel at home. Great breakfast and service. Highly recommend

THE most stunning property! The rooms are spacious, well equipped with high quality pieces/linen. The beds are super comfortable. Breakfast is yum, the pool is simply to die for, the grounds are stunning and the staff are exceptional!! We loved everything !! So much so we extended our stay to four days! The owner is an incredible woman too !!

if you are looking for the perfect oasis stay in and around Hikkaduwa, this is it ! the best hide-out on the south coast. place is unique and the service worldclass. Just go and dream away.

- super clean for Sri Lanka standards - very supportive staff - 15 minutes walk from Main Street, causing it quite, far from noise, but you could walk or pay 300 rupies for tuk tuk - excellent dinner / breakfast - fast WiFi everywhere, in other places it is usually bad

The hotel was beautiful! Staff very friendly and accommodating, the breakfast was lovely too.

This was such a gem for our stay. Staff very friendly. Accommodation walkable to the town, or tuktuk drivers were provided with journeys only 500r. We left very early so missed breakfast and the staff made us a packed lunch which was very thoughtful. Access to a washing machine for a modest fee. Great villa with comfortable bed and spacious bathroom. The pool area was spotless and great to relax in

A stunning hotel with beautiful garden/facilities/pool. The staff go above and beyond for you. They made our stay amazing. Delicious breakfast/lunch. They now serve dinner on Wednesdays however it is super easy to get a tuktuk to local restaurants for evening meals. 10/10 recommend. Thanks for having us!

Excellent small property, beautifullly maintained garden, nice swimmingpool and very nice,clean rooms and suites with modern bathrooms. The setting is quiet and peaceful, the touristic area is easy to reach. Last but not least a friendly and very helpfull team who makes your stay memorable. The friendly helpful staff, pristine gardens and clean comfortable villa made our stay a time to remember. Meals are available until 5pm each day (8pm on Wednesdays) and are delicious. Nothing was ever an issue for the manager Karin, who could organise meals, snacks by the pool, advice on local shops and even have my suit case repaired by the villa’s maintenance man. The team spoke great English and were happy to talk with you and make your stay comfortable and relaxing.

The room was beautiful and the garden area was very nice. Great atmosphere - I really enjoyed the stay

Breakfast could be better - more healthy /vegan options

The Tropcial House feels like a hidden gem in Hikkaduwa. It’s a wonderful place to stay and relax, with beautiful rooms, a lush garden with swimming pool and very kind people. It’s a 5 min tuktuk ride to the center which means you can enjoy the jungle vibes (peacocks in trees) with the beach close by.

Good host, good atmosphere and really nice pool and room!

Tropical House is located in the village of Hikkaduwa (away from the main beach) - it’s a lot quieter and more serene. The management is very welcoming and accommodating, and breakfast is excellent. We had a marvellous stay.

Given the location- you have to walk to Hikkaduwa town (which may be difficult in the heat), or take a tuk tuk. If you do the latter, the local tuk tuk cartel are some of the most pushy and aggressive touts we’ve come across. We would probably recommend using an app like Uber or PickMe to avoid getting overcharged.

Everything was just perfect! The staff is amazing, the accommodation simply stunning. We loved every minute snd wished we could stay longer.
