How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe stay good and worth the money, the staff was friendly, and they accommodated our late evening check-in smoothly. The overall experience was very nice. However, overall impression remains positive.
They did not respond to messages, and it was hard to find contact numbers for the hotel. Despite these minor issues but its not big issues.

We were not informed of Road blocks connecting to property, wasting much time detouring each time we went out. We were not informed of the sound pollution from loudspeakers from 8am to midnight, affiliated with some bizarre religious festival, which was quite annoying & gave us a headache.
Amali, we’re genuinely disappointed to see this review, especially after the extra care we took during your stay, including personally getting your son a fresh sausage bun every morning FREE of charge. Roadblocks and traditional festivals are completely beyond our control, and it’s disheartening to see our team’s effort overshadowed by circumstances we couldn’t change. Reviews like this don’t just affect us; they affect the hardworking staff who went above and beyond for you.

Verified reviewLovely staff including the owner,very smiley, friendly and helpful all of them. Literally a minute to the beach surrounded by loads of restaurants, lovely garden for chilling. They have a nice cafe. The rooms are very good value for money. I'd stay here again.

Verified reviewThe hotel is centrally located to restaurants, motorbike hire, massage and the beach. It has it's own cafe ( great chai and hot chocolate) and Thai restaurant. Our room was spacious and clean, with a comfortable bed, amazingly quiet and effective air-conditioning and strong shower. Sometimes we had trouble getting hot water though. A bonus was the shampoo and body wash provided.It has a lovely area outside to sit where you can see squirrels and occasionally langurs. The staff were friendly and kind. Would definitely stay here again.

Verified reviewPerfect location within a 5-minute walking distance from the beach (2 with a path through the restaurant). Great spacious room, clean, very comfortable large beds, all the necessary cupboards and small comfy furniture pieces. Hot water at all times. Very neat bath liquids. Delicious coffees and meals at a cafe downstairs (our room was in the second floor). Most important — perfect, very friendly, welcoming, helpful hotel team!

Great location - near the best part of the beach: the waves are smaller than on the left part of the beach, and at the same time far enough from the stinky river on the right part of the beach. Decent soundproofing of the rooms - we've booked two adjacent rooms and couldn't hear each other through the wall at all. They provide beach towels daily if you ask. The people who work there are all very friendly ❤️

Verified reviewWe had a wonderful stay in a room with a lovely garden view. The hotel is very close to the beach, which made it so convenient for us to enjoy the coastal beauty. The restaurant offered amazing food choices, and we enjoyed every meal. It was also incredibly relaxing to sit in the garden in the evening, soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. Overall, the experience was totally worth the money, and I highly recommend this place!

Verified reviewExcellent location, just steps away from the beach, as well as restaurants and bars. It has a lovely terrace and café, which are perfect for both relaxing and working. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, it had a small fridge and strong air conditioning—a definite plus in Sri Lanka! The staff are nice and friendly!
One suggestion for improvement: it would be nice to add a chair and some decorations to the room to better reflect the charming vibe of the café.

highly not recommend you to stay there, the only nice thing about their is location other things are not connected to good stay: First you can't take a shower everytime in the middle of the shower after 2mins needs to run downstairs to ask their kindness to open the water. the tap was compelety fidly moving in all directions can't use proprly, the light bulbs were almost all burned and was dark as 80% of lights didn't work they kept informing that they will fix and provide wifi and later didn't bring anything after couple of requests, the cleaning was not nice it was dirty, it was scareful to touch some dish and kettle as they are dirty (look to the photos), wardrobes don't close lock is useless, we have a sea view room and instead in reality turnened out to be a roof view. we stayed at other places cheaper and better quality of stay. highly recommend you not to go to this place and to find yourself somewhere else

As a humble two-star beach hotel, we go above and beyond to make our guests comfortable—including storing thousands of liters of water since the city blesses us with supply only three times a week. Our pumps usually work automatically, but on rare occasions, we manually intervene—like when you so dramatically found yourself mid-shower. Of course, we fixed it immediately, but that wasn’t enough for you, was it? You were already upset because we didn’t cater to your outrageous check-in demands and endless requests. Let’s not forget the part where I literally gave you money when your bank card mysteriously stopped working everywhere—such a shame you conveniently left that out of your review. But hey, it’s always fun when tourists like you try (and fail) to trash our reputation. Our record speaks for itself, and your little tantrum won’t change that. No thanks, and maybe try smiling for once—it might make your travels a little less miserable.

Verified reviewThe location is good, a short walk to Unawatuna beach and the beachside restaurants. The room and bathroom were really clean and quite large. The bathroom had really great water pressure.
There's only one plug point near the bed so it's not ideal for 2 people to share but we managed for our short stay. The only major downside to the stay was the toilet seat - it was very worn and not set in place comfortably, with a crack in the middle. It was quite loud in the garden view room, as it's right near the cafe and the music etc. from it carry into the room during business hours.
