Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Wonderful family run guesthouse, great value for money, delicious food. We ate breakfast lunch and dinner here. Loved our stay at Vibushan, would definitely stay again. Much nicer and more authentic than trincomalee.

ItalyEverything was great😊
We felt at home from the very first moment and it was hard to leave Vibushan Guest House. The place is quiet, cosy and relaxing, less than 10 minutes from Nilaveli beach. The food is AMAZING, one of the best curries we had in Sri Lanka! Breakfast was amazing as well. Everyone was really kind and helpful. We went dolphin watching, snorkeling and got the best massage so far in Sri Lanka👀 If you’re planning to go to Nilaveli, Vibushan Guest House is the perfect place to stay🌊

United KingdomMusic that played out the back at about 6am, no idea where it was from but it woke me quite a bit. Would have liked a more frequent room clean but if I asked they did it but kept forgetting to leave my key for them 🙄 Would have liked some different drinks for sale there as it was beer, water and sometimes wine. The wine was really nice though x
I booked Vibushan from the feedback. If you want basic, clean, affordable and comfortable then this place is for you. I did have an ant problem in my bathroom but this is a ground floor accommodation in Sri Lanka so what do you expect 🤷. I managed to lose my key one night and they managed to get me in. I did find the key again x The food here was way better than most places around, I loved it 😍 tasty and plenty of it, refills if I wanted. The restaurant is a definite attraction for this accommodation. I sorted a safari trip out with the owner and it was fab, so grateful for an amazing day trip 🐘 I had a double room with AC which I recommend, I only used it to cool down then the fan was enough overnight x The area was quiet, and easy walk to the beach, not too far from dive centres and a lovely husband and wife juice stand not far down that did the best lemon juice around 😍 I was here for 18 nights as I was just there to chill and dive and it was as I said basic, but a really good price. The family are helpful, kind and friendly x

United KingdomLeaving, we wanted to stay longer
A lovely warm welcome from sameera the owner. He helped us book our diving, birdwatching, lagoon trip, fishing, Trincomalee tour and transfers. Nothing was too much trouble. Fantastic home cooked food at very good prices, we didn't need to look for anywhere else to eat. They even cooked the fish we caught free of charge. The atmosphere at vibushan was vibrant with other friendly travelers enjoying the same. Nothing was too much trouble, we didn't want to leave.

SpainIf you are looking for a comfortable, friendly and vibrant place this is the right one! I've done almost all my meals with them and I really enjoyed them. Amazing breakfast and currys. Samire is always taking care of your needs and helps in everything he can. Prices are more than acceptable with a good quality-price rate. For me it was the best choice in Nilaveli!

NetherlandsWould have been nice if soap would have been provided in the shower and if the shower would have been warm. No big deal, small suggestion for improvement :)
Absolute value for money. The room was small but clean, and since the weather is so good, we didn't spent much time in our room. The kottu from the restaurant was very good!

AustraliaNothing to say. Everything was great.
We originally planned to stay just two nights but ended up spending five. This guest house has such a good vibe: peaceful, clean, and run by a genuinely kind and honest family. The owners, Samira and Kamalini are incredibly welcoming, available to help, give advice and transparent about pricing. Service was great! The food was delicious (good portion and fair price). The rooms and common areas are spotless, and everything is kept with care. It’s the perfect place to relax, away from the noise, yet just a short walk from the beach. Highly recommended if you’re looking for somewhere quiet, clean, and full of positive energy, close to the ocean.

United KingdomNothing I can think of — except maybe having to leave when we did .
Everything. The room with AC was excellent. The food was fresh, clean,,home cooked and tasty, served up in good time, and at an extremely good price. The choice of coffee and teas were great - we particularly enjoyed the French press. It was hot outside but kept cool inside the restaurant and had a really good vibe going down with all the well satisfied customers. The family all helped run things efficiently and with a smile . The owner and his wife are a lovely couple and very helpful arranging whatever you need ie tuk tuks ,boat trips, snorkelling etc. If I pass this way again I know I don’t need to look anywhere else - everything I need is here .

New ZealandNilaveli is a beautiful beach and the family who run Vibushan Guest house made my visit very easy. Comfortable room, super clean and with lots of areas to relax on the property. They also quickly organised a snorkeling trip for the next day at a reasonable price. The location is a short stroll through the small village to the beach.
