Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe place is a bit old with the painting but generally clean and tidy, The Buddhist chanting at 6am is definitely annoying
The staff were so welcoming with a lovely cup of tea and fresh cake the bathtub was excellent overlooking the tea fields.

United KingdomThe photo of the view from the bath must be out of date as there is now another building, and the view is not of tea fields as suggested (see photo). Suggestion: another mirror in the bedroom please-there is only the one in the bathroom which gets steamed up and is not near a socket.
Friendly welcome with tea & cake on the balcony. The villa was beautiful and very clean. The staff were friendly & extremely helpful. The villa is just out of town but not far off the main road.

United KingdomThe owner was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The breakfast and our treat. Can't fault the staff. I Loved the bath. Area was nice. Bed was good. Problem was there was a large amount of mold in the bathroom and bedroom. Which I forgot to take a picture. I didn't realise it wasnt a villa to ourselves and each room has someone else in. I may have just read it wrong. We were literally there less than14hrs

It had a nice ambience. The staff were really helpful eg helping us buy train tickets, buy in pizzas and suggesting itineraries. There was a nice first floor verandah overlooking a tea plantation.

AustraliaVery helpful staff, comfortable bed, good place to recuperate through illness. Thank you to the staff who helped us to be comfortable while we were not well. Sadly we didn’t see much of Nuwara Eliya but we were grateful to have a home away from home to rest up for our onward journey.

United KingdomThe noise from the upstairs room there was very little insulation and occupants were getting ready to leave from 3-4:30am which kept us awake for a large proportion of the night. The location is a bit out of the way. Bathroom in need of a refresh.
Friendly staff that were appointed to the villa and helped us arrange several excursions, generous breakfast. Quality linens and towels in the room plus tea and coffee making facilities. Shower pressure good and hot water was plentiful. We loved the tea and biscuits on arrival served on the veranda over looking the tea fields.

AustraliaWhole place could do with a thorough clean. Drain in our bathroom was blocking. Communal areas floors were dirty. Flowers in vases were wilting. It all contributed to a lack of attention to detail. Everything was Ok, but with more general maintenance it would be so much better.
Villa Tea Fields is nicely decorated and has a pool table, a nice terrace overlooking tea plantations yet still quite close to town. The adequate breakfast was included.

United KingdomOur room was rather damp. There was a dehumidifier fitted but it filled up daily. Damp is partly due to the high humidity of the area but also I think something structural in the building.
Away from town but nice location. Lovely helpful staff.

The place is not in the center of the city, which we liked. It was quiet and peaceful. Amazing porch to sit on with plantation view, very good breakfast. It was indeed chilly at night, we were prepared with warm clothes and it was fine.

AustraliaNo it met our expectations.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was delicious. Whilst the accommodation is a little way out of town, a tuk tuk ride for dinner is not expensive and it’s unique to stay so close to the tea fields. It was clean and the bed was comfortable and we slept well so no complaints from us!
