The house has a nice appearance from outside. The reception area is spotless and has the feel of a British bed and breakfast. Our room and bed were very comfortable. Very nice break and good value for money.

The bathroom is similar to many in Sri Lankan hotels. Funtional and fine but not as luxurious as we many would like.

Loved the balcony off our room! Incredible breakfast - we asked for a Sri Lankan breakfast and the best!!! Great location too!

We booked a twin but got given a double off the breakfast room, with our door hidden by a curtain, it was covered in mosquitos every time we tried to enter. It was the only place in Sri Lanka we found a cockroach in our room, and we didn’t fancy showering in the shower, it was really dark in there not where you’d hang out and my lack of sleep resulted in me collapsing the next morning although the owner kindly offered after that to drive us to the train station - I’m sure the rooms upstairs would have been fine and they were lovely people but worst place we stayed on our whole trip unfortunately

This was the best accommodation we came across so far during our Sri Lanka trip. It is very clean and comfortable, we were greeted in a very friendly way and were helped settle in quickly. The place is a little away yet still walkable distance to all the cafes and restaurants, which is perfect for us. Also received tipps around the area and loved to have access to a small balcony, a great bathroom with a full door and big shower including a fan in the bathroom to dry things up fast. Breakfast was excellent too, thank you so much!

This is a matter of taste, I enjoy a hard mattress over a soft one, still very comfortable.

Amazing staff, great location

We had a fantastic stay at the White House in Ella, and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting this beautiful part of Sri Lanka. The location is ideal—just a short walk to the centre of Ella, with easy access to shops, restaurants, and all the local attractions. The rooms were lovely, clean, and comfortable, and the upper-floor balcony was a real bonus—perfect for relaxing and soaking in the views. Just a heads-up: bring mosquito repellent if you're sitting out in the early morning or evening, as they can be a little pesky! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, even accommodating our early morning departure. We were especially grateful to receive a packed breakfast, which was thoughtfully prepared and really appreciated as we headed off to catch our train. There were also tea and coffee facilities in the room, along with a fridge, which added to the comfort of our stay. A real highlight was the breakfast served at the property—delicious and generous. My children particularly loved the pancakes with chocolate sauce, which quickly became a morning favourite! Ella Railway Station is easily walkable from the hotel, though if you have luggage or an early train, we’d suggest grabbing a Tuk Tuk from the main road. Another bonus is that the Nine Arches Bridge is also walkable—a pleasant and scenic stroll. It does get busy around train times, but it’s still well worth the visit. Ella is a touristy town, and while some of the shops are a bit pricier than other parts of Sri Lanka, it’s a great place to pick up gifts and keepsakes to remember your trip. Overall, White House offers comfort, convenience, and warm hospitality in a prime location. We would definitely stay again if we return to Ella. Highly recommended!

The location of the property was very good, only a 5 minute walk to busy street with plenty of restaurants. The staff were also very nice and accommodating as we had to check out early for Safari.

There were ants in the bed upon arrival. The fan in the room also didn’t work. Wifi was patchy and often didn’t work for long periods. Overall, didn’t think the price paid reflected the accommodation we had

I liked the hygiene level of the room and the bathroom. The location is very close to the center but not on any noisy main road. The facilities from fridge, hair dryer and multiple sockets were available. However, the kettle was old and I couldn't use it. The breakfast was fresh, tasty and of great variety. It was the best breakfast I have had during my vacation and stay in 6 different homestay (in different districts). The staff were friendly and helpful, however they need to improve their English language for better communication.

There was an annoying mosquito and mosquito net would be needed. Also, the sound of the AC condenser units hanged on the outside wall reached my room. The noise of the night club nearby continued until 11 pm. The lundary wasn't very good, since some stains remained on the clothes.

Our room was not cleaned as cleaner did not come. Toilets had skid marks & droplets. One staff works what seems like round the clock not enough rest time given.

This place was honestly one of the best places we stayed in the whole of Sri Lanka , the room, the breakfast and even the location was perfect. The staff were so helpful and they gave us a 3 course breakfast in the morning!!! The air con was perfect and so silent( hard to get around Sri Lanka). I will definitely be returning

Great rooms with a nice balcony, comfortable beds. In a good location a few minutes walk from the Main Street so you can’t hear much noise. Incredibly friendly staff!

The staff were very kind and helpful, they went above and beyond to assist us in our stay. The location is brilliant, only a 5-minute walk to main street and 2 minutes to food store. Our accommodation came with breakfast included and it was very filling and tasty. Staff will cook the eggs your way and are always available to assist if you need.
