We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

United KingdomN/A. Everything was 10/10
Large comfortable bed with a fantastic plunge pool to relax and cool down. Manori the host arranged a special full day safari for us which included food. Priyashantha also worked at Wild Wadi and he was our guide for the safari, he was very knowledgable with 22 years experience, we saw a Leopard and elephants. All staff were superb and friendly. They kindly made Sri Lankan food for us to try both evenings, and it was very tasty.

Peaceful location with a great plunge pool to chill out in after a fantastic Safari thru Wilpattu park. Staff are super friendly and can’t do enough for you. As the photos show it is rustic and down to earth accommodation which is part of its unique charm.

AustraliaDownside to the property was the food, it was very average for Sri Lankan standards. It would be nice to have a plate of fresh fruit included with breakfast, which we found was usually the norm in Sri Lanka. Also fresh fruit juice should also be included with breakfast. We did ask and were given fresh fruit juice - at no extra cost, thank you! Napkins should automatically be provided with each meal and fresh placemats with each meal would be welcomed.
Great location and surroundings. Close to Wilpattu National Park entrance. Friendly and helpful staff, from Priyashanth our guide, Harsha the manager, Nimsara and Piyumi the kitchen staff and Krishnan who looked after our room. Afternoon walking safari was very enjoyable and plenty of wildlife to be seen. Plunge pool was very convenient for a quick refreshing dip. The manager was very kind and drove us into town so we could purchase some beer and a motor scooter was also organised for our stay.

CanadaWe had the best time staying at Wild Wadi Wilpattu. The property is located about 5 - 10 minutes from the Wilpattu park entrance which not only means you can easily book a safari but you also experience some incredible wild life just steps outside your door. We cannot praise the staff enough. Everyone we spoke with was so nice and so accommodating. It’s very clear that the folks at Wild Wadi are very passionate about animals, the environment and sharing all of their knowledge with their guests. We had breakfast and dinner at Wild Wadi each night. We had traditional Sri Lankan meals and it was some of the best food we had so far on our trip. We would highly recommend booking at Wild Wadi if you are visiting Wilpattu - such an incredible experience! We will be back!

United KingdomIt wasnt a problem for me, but as you are in nature there are bugs including mosquitos, so bring repellent!
Fantastic place to stay for so many reasons. The hotel itself feels really like a safari camp with wild animals and birds all around, there are monkeys and squirrels in the gardens. Each room is very private down a small path from the main dining room. The rooms are absolutely huge and wonderfully decorated. They have a large comfortable more-than-double bed and are well equipped with a fridge, air-conditioning and ceiling fan, hot and cold shower, tea and coffee making facilities, towels and robe. The room had huge windows overlooking the forest and its own private terrace and plunge pool perfect for cooling off after a long day. We had a sri lankan style breakfast which was delicious and we ate 2 nights at the hotel. I would highly recommend the seafood bbq, so much yummy food! The hotel is situated perfectly for safari as it is right next to the entrance to the national park so only 2 minutes in the tuktuk to get to the entrance. They packed us breakfast, lunch and snacks. Priyashantha joined us for the day and was fantastic at taking us to the best places to spot the wildlife. He brought along binoculars and books to show us the birds and animals we had seen. The jeep itself has a roof to keep cool in the heat of the day on the full day safari. I would highly recommend the friendly and caring staff, the beautiful peaceful surroundings and the very comfortable rooms.

The owner went with us on a boatsafari and told us a lot about Sri Lanka and the animals that live there. The other man working there was a wild animal specialist and went with us to the national park. Because of him we saw 2 leopards! There are a lot of monkeys and peacocks, which is really cool too see. We had our dinner there and it was a really good Sri Lankan meal. Very delicious.

We all really enjoyed our stay at Wild Wadi Wilpattu hotel. From the moment we arrived (really late in the evening) we were looked after extremely well by Manori and her team - they provided very tasty good value meals and organised a reasonably priced safari for us at short notice. The rooms are clean and spacious and the surroundings very nice. Our children enjoyed seeing the monkeys at breakfast and looking out for other wildlife. We were only sad we couldn't stay longer. Would definitely recommend - thank you for a lovely stay!

NetherlandsWild Wadi Wilpattu is an absolute gem for anyone looking to experience the beauty of Sri Lanka in a truly authentic yet comfortable way. The location is beautiful, right on the edge of Wilpattu National Park, making it the perfect base for safaris and nature adventures. The atmosphere is easygoing, rustic, and charming, with a wood and bamboo look that blends seamlessly into the natural surroundings. From the moment we arrived, the staff went out of their way to make our stay unforgettable. Their warmth and hospitality made us feel right at home. The Sri Lankan food they serve belong among the best we’ve had in Sri Lanka—fresh, flavorful, and made with love. We did both a boating safari and a wildlife safari, both arranged by the hotel. The boat trip took us to see the famous baobab tree and explore the lagoon, where we spotted countless birds in a breathtaking setting. On our jeep safari, we were lucky enough to see elephants, a leopard, bears, and many more animals—an unforgettable experience! The rooms were very clean, spacious, and had good air conditioning, providing the perfect retreat after a day of adventure. Adding to the charm, we had visits from monkeys, peacocks, and squirrels, which made our stay even more special. I would definitely recommend Wild Wadi Wilpattu to anyone looking for an authentic stay near Wilpattu, where you can enjoy the luxury of great food, comfortable accommodation, and incredible wildlife experiences—all at a very affordable price.

NetherlandsIt is slightly more expensive than other accommodations, but the below makes it worth it easily.
Our stay at Wild Wadi Wilpattu was nothing short of exceptional! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm hospitality and incredible service. We had the opportunity to embark on two incredible safaris with the knowledgeable and friendly staff. The wildlife safari was absolutely breathtaking—we were lucky enough to spot leopards, elephants, crocodiles, and so much more in their natural habitat. The boat trip through the mangroves and lagoon was equally magical, offering stunning views and an up-close encounter with Sri Lanka’s diverse ecosystem. The food was simply outstanding—authentic Sri Lankan cuisine at its finest! Both breakfast and dinner were full of flavour, freshly prepared, and truly showcased the best of local dishes. The accommodation was comfortable, well-equipped, and immersed in nature. Waking up to the sounds of the jungle, surrounded by monkeys and wildlife, was an unforgettable experience. It felt like a true escape into the heart of Sri Lanka’s wilderness. What truly made our stay so special was the wonderful staff and the incredibly kind owner, who went above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience possible. Their passion for hospitality and wildlife made us feel right at home. And last but not least—the absolute star of our stay was Duan, the owner’s young puppy. He is, without a doubt, the most adorable and charming little dog we’ve ever met! If you’re looking for an unforgettable adventure, breathtaking nature, and top-tier hospitality, Wild Wadi Wilpattu is the place to be! We can’t wait to return.

FranceThe terrace door was broken and that made it difficult for us to enjoy the terrace.
A comfortable jungle cabin with a plunge pool, surrounded by nature. Lots of wildlife to observe from our room. We saw about 20 monkeys running, jumping and swaying in the trees around the pond in front of the cabin, several langurs as well, a mongoose and lots of different birds as well as some local cows and a very friendly stray dog that was sleeping outside our door every evening and followed us from and to breakfast. We had planned to go on a safari, (and for that Wadi is perfectly located), however, the nearest entrance gate got flooded and shut just before our arrival, so we were u fortunately not able to do it, but nevertheless, we enjoyed being immersed in the peaceful surroundings and observing the wildlife around us. We also enjoyed the tasty Sri Lankan food prepared for us daily by the very kind staff.

United KingdomThank you for a lovely day/evening at your hotel. We were made to feel very welcome by the owner/manager and her team who work so well together. Communication regarding booking and organising the visit was excellent. We learnt a lot about nature and various bird species nearby. The food was so very flavoursome. Loved the decor of the accommodation. What a shame the weather was so wet. We ended up cancelling the safari due to the heavy rains and winds. Perhaps we will return another time and try again. Very best wishes.

IsraelThe room is in the jungle, and therefore there were bugs entering whenever the door opened, as expected from a cabin in the jungle. The meals were fresh and rich, but very expensive relatively to Sri Lanka.
The room was built well, spacious and had a great AC. From the room windows we were able to spot animals like monkeys and squirrels, and we saw plenty of birds in the area as well. The staff were AMAZING. Super helpful and nice, always available for questions and explanations about the wildlife. We booked the safari tour from the hotel and it was great decision - they provided us with great food and we were accompanied by Shantha, a guide from the hotel, who was friendly, professional and thanks to his knowledge we were able to see two different leopards in two different days. We recommend asking for the tour with him.

From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm smiles and exceptional hospitality. The staff at this beautiful hotel go above and beyond to ensure every guest feels welcomed and comfortable. The room was immaculate and spacious. I was particularly impressed with the bed. I had such great sleep. Hearing the animals and nature sounds also made the stay even more enjoyable. There are plenty of activities to do at Wild Wadi Wilpattu such as bird watching, safari, kayaking, boat safari, nature walks, enjoy the personal pool and Manori took me to a local village to meet with locals and learn about their lifestyle. We had a very nice stay at wild Wadi Wilpattu, Manori helped us to book transport for a good price, she organize a safari in wilpattu, even though the guide wasn't very informative, we had a nice day in the park, and saw a lot of birds and animals. We had a evening boat trip in the lagoon, saw 2 old baobab trees, but only few birds, but a nice sundown. Manori drove us to our next destination, we had nuts, curd and juice from king coconut on the way, and she was very nice and informative, the price for the tour was very fair.
