How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewIt was great to stay here on my way from Semonkong to Maseru. It was great to be able to recharge my batteries. Also, the cottage is in a beautiful setting and the dinner and breakfast were fantastic. Such a great place to stay. If I pass by the area again, I will definitely stay here again.
Yves..thank you. was a pleasure to host you my friend. Happy cycling. A true adventurer.

Verified reviewThe fact that there was no electricity or cold water in the rondawel was really a dissapointment. There was not even signal for cellphones left alone the so-called Free wifi... The hostess was very friendly and really tried her best. The nature and mountains was beautiful.
THIS IS NO HOTEL NO WIFI NO ELECTRICITY ( On the site it even shows ELECTRIC KETTLE) NO COLD WATER No outside dining area or Patio as advertised on the website The seperate toilet is a Longdrop outside, where you have to walk trough rubble to get there. Don't expect more than toilet paper under "free Toiletries" Books,DVDs or music for children....... 3 old books in the corner.... No Dvds or music.....NOT EVEN ELECTRICITY!! Broken wardrobe in the other bedroom, for gas bottel and storage for their things NO SOCKETS near bed....
Kritzinger.....this is Mamello I personally took care of you during your stay and would like to thank you for the highest score it is appreciated. I was concerned you admitted that you had not read the detailed listing on booking .com. If you had it would be clear we are not a hotel but off grid cottages using sustainable power and backed up by a generator which we put on every morning so you could dry your hair. So to say we have no electricity is misleading. You had power at all times. It should be made clear to fellow travellers that you booked and stayed in our larger cottage you did not experience the rondawel which is a separate listing. Your comments about the round house are misleading you did not stay in there. You managed to conduct your business meetings online so your comments regarding having no signal are misleading. There is hot and cold water both for drinking washing and showering. Your comments regarding no cold water are misleading. There are no long drop toilets on our property all flush and are hazard free. Your comments about such toilets and rubble are misleading. In both our indoor and outdoor shower areas are toiletries including body wash shampoo and soap. We do not utilise single use plastic packaged toiletries in line with sustainable practices. Again misleading and not helpful to prospective guests. We have several tables and shaded areas for dining outside and I believe you enjoyed a braai with us. The socket in the bedroom is 30cms from the bed and constitutes near by most definitions. We have approximately 250 dvds in our library and are available on request as well as more books. I encourage our guests to explore our collection. We have replaced the wardrobe door handle and apologise it was not 100 percent. In the wardrobe are spare towels linens and duvets we store them there for our guests in case of mishaps or chilly nights and yes they all belong to us.Music is provided by the red JBL speaker in the lounge to which you Bluetooth your playlists. It misleading to say we have no music. We are sorry that we were not able to meet all your expectations and will certainly work harder to achieve the best for our guests.

Verified reviewCasa Tumi is a little slice of paradise within easy reach of Maseru. Mark and Mamello really looked after us and the added extras of cooked meals and horse riding were a bonus. Set in a quiet location and essentially off the grid, this made for a relaxed and peaceful stay. The rooms are well equipped and maintained.

Maseko. We appreciate the time taken to write your review. The review should be based on your experience at Casa Tumi not the local tavern that is neither owned or operated by us.

Verified reviewPlease was neat inside
Feel mislead. Location poor, not safe, poor food, expensive for what is offered , lots of rubbish behind property. There is only 2 small houses - one house to rent and the other one is were the owner stay. Why do they advertise it in plural form as if their is more houses for people to stay, and on different sites different names for example cottages and on other sites it is a guest house or thatched houses/cottages or round houses? If you want a proper view, you must walk over the hill or travel by car..
Coenraad..we also feel misled..you did not stay with us. You left without paying .you did not eat here. Our cottages are spaced out people enjoy the solitude. If you had got out of your car and walked 20 metres you would have witnessed a most spectacular view. Driving around our lawn looking out of your window is never a substitute for walking and exploring. Booking.com offer real reviews from real guests. You were never a guest at our cottages.

Maringa..Maps me is a great app for offline navigation as suggested in our messages to you. Our solar is suitable for charging and lighting etc not for your EV unfortunately. Safe journey.
