How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewNowhere near as bad as some here say. Granted, I have been to this road before (the Ibis Styles next door), so I know it can be rather “interesting” - especially at night. However, I was travelling on my own and never felt unsafe. The room was clearly newly refurbished and was very clean. The lady who gave me the key at the bar downstairs was very friendly and welcoming.
Yes, the road outside is loud at night (though I knew this would be the case as I’ve stayed on this road before). Grab a few beers and you’ll sleep fine.

Verified reviewThe room is pretty basic, but decent size and has the absolute bare necessities. The staff were friendly, the room was clean and the hotel was within walking distance to all attractions with lots of restaurants and shops nearby - train station just up the road.
The booking.com advert is VERY misleading. “Lively” is a huge understatement as the hotel is situated directly above a nightclub and the rooms aren’t soundproofed in the slightest. By the time the music goes off at 12AM/1AM, you then have to listen to barrels and chairs being dragged around for a further hour. You also need to be prepared for your room to smell of cigarettes, since the customers at the bar will be sat outside smoking all night and it gets into the rooms. I am a female and was travelling solo, I didn’t realise the hotel was in the red light district, as such every night I would have to get back to the hotel for 5pm/6pm and hunker down until the morning as it felt extremely unsafe even the evening, with lots of drunk people around (obviously) and some people that appeared to be on drugs too. I would not recommend this hotel for a woman or even a couple of women travelling. This hotel is by far the cheapest around, but it is worth paying extra to be in a hotel that A) doesn’t smell like cigarettes B) you can actually go to sleep before midnight C) you can go out for dinner in the evening because it doesn’t feel like you’re taking your life into your own hands by going out after dark.

Verified reviewThe room complies with the description on the booking.com. it is small but that is sufficient for one night. Towels and a small bathroom are available. It is clean and dark at night.
The hotel is located above the bar. The music was loud almost until the midnight. There is no lift and you can hear guests returning to their Rooms.

Verified reviewIt’s in a busy place but I knew that when I booked it. I prefer that part of Luxembourg for the atmosphere

Verified reviewConvenient to the train station so you can use Luxembourg's free public transportation to get here easily. There are affordable eateries in the nearby area, and it's proximal to the southern part of the old town, so even if you walk (it's two bus stops from the old town) it's not far to move yourself or your luggage. Room was spacious. Included a fan to cool the room. Adequate space and hangers for clothes. Comfortable chairs. Decent bed. Ample toilet paper. Secure. The outer door has a code. The male bartender even offered to key it in for me when I came in at night, but I had it memorized and didn't need his help.
Europe has this strange fascination with douvets. No sheets on the bed, so you sleep under a douvet or nothing, and since it was July the douvet was a bit much. The table fan helped. The establishment sits over a bar. The bar got quiet after 11PM, but there were lights from businesses across the street that flashed all night, so it might not be the most restive place. I could hear drunks in the street below outside. There was also construction which started at 6AM, but since I was catching a train at 0715 it wasn't bad for me. If you are taller that 6' (183cm) you may have trouble sitting on the toilet as the room was barely large enough for me to do so. But that's the only issue I had with the room itself.

Directly over a loud bar that stays open late and has very loud music. Cigarette smoke and smell in the hallway by the bar travels upwards and can be smelled in the room.
