How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. I had requested a lower bunk and he moved me to accommodate me.
Staff were helpful, place was very clean and good security so I felt safe. Close to the train station

When I arrived, the lift would not stop on the 2nd floor. When I pressed the button '2' it would not stay lit and the lift would not go. Decided to go to the 3rd floor and carry my luggage down rather than up the stairs.
I liked the spaciousness of the foyer, common room and the bedroom I stayed in. I loved the Indian style living room furniture in the common room. The description of the hostel mentions a 'bar' and I worried about being kept awake half the night by drunken guests. There was no need to worry - the hostel was a quiet, relaxing place.

No socket in bathroom. Some sockets didn't work. Free parking far away. Foil on beds was a terrible idea. I know it is easier to clean but accommodation is for sleeping for guests, not for cleaning for employees...
Welcome drink was great and unexpected. Some tourist information provided. You can see that they are new and trying their best. But still some to do. Breakfast. Some things that do not work were repaired during our stay.

There are no lockers in rooms, just in the common area. Most of the locks are broken so I didn't have a chance to lock away my stuff. Shower cabin was not attached and was about to fall over.
Common area looks really stylish and cozy. Good location.

Only one thing - on booking and in some opinions is information about breakfast but I was told it's not anymore. This is misleading.
It's my favourite location in Riga. Good to know there's new hostel here, hope to be back :)

Second day, the door wasnt opening and we stayed at the outside, it was so public and everyone was looking to you, in the morning the reception guy waked us. It was very bad hostel, also the toilet was no bad

Location is the best, new hostel. Hosts really nice, trying to make you most welcome, I had safe place to leave my bike, they let to bring inside. Quite spacious, tidy new hostel in perfect location, also the price is really good and bonus is McDonald's just downstairs 😁

Bedlinen were synthetic, no towel, just two bathrooms and showers. Usually hostels have a socket by each bed, this just had some in the room.
It is in city center. It is cheap. No bed bugs. Very well explained how to get in through the 3 different doors and three different codes..

No shelves in sleeping courters to put your stuff on. At least one shelf per bed should be sufficient. Toilet and bathroom floor can be mopped more regularly
Location was good. Beds and bedding was new. Facility was neat and clean. Staff was always friendly and courteous.

No air-conditioning, I sweated all night. No place to hang clothes other than the bedframe itself. No security: No place to securely stow away luggage. They had cameras, but I would call that a deterrence or insurance for the owners themselves. Privacy concerns: The host wants a picture of your passport. The details on the passport should be enough. Don't confuse laziness with standard practices. The mattresses are wrapped in plastic: They are not comfortable, and they make a lot of noise. Especially when there's four people trying to sleep on them. It's cheap though, I just didn't realize I had to suffer for it

There were no lockers, no kitchen, and the wifi only worked in the communal areas. It's not really a backpacker hostel, most guests seemed to be middle aged men with digestive problems.
Staff (I think owner) was very friendly, the place is very spacious and it's a great location; 100m from the train station.

There was only one useable shower since the door to the second shower didn‘t close properly. There were no lockers in the room or anywhere to place the luggage, so one really just had to trust the roommates. Generally the facilities were working semi-great even tho it seems to be pretty new. Lastly, it isn‘t really backpacker friendly in my opinion (as advertised), the people there either weren‘t there for leisure travel or not the youngest anymore. There‘s also no events organized by the hostel itself
The staff was really nice and helpful and the facilities were quite clean. The location was great as it was in the middle of the city so getting around in Riga was easy and fast
